The view is absolutely amazing! the mountain view is just right outside the window. The room is comfortable. The environment is ver peaceful. You could sit at the common area's balcony to relax. The receptionist is super friendly and nice.

Is quite steep walk if you missed the last bus to the nearby bus stop of the hostel and the last bus is before 7pm if i remember correctly. If you are with big luggage is wise to plan to reach Grindelwald train station earlier to catch the bus as it is much easier to take the bus! There's no warm/hot water during the 2nd night so it was freezing to get the shower done.

Options were great! The gluten free oatmeal and that rice cakes were the best!

There were a lot more children than expected. When reading “youth hostel” I expected the others to be in and around the teen/ young adult/ adult age range. This wouldn’t have been an issue, but I was awoken by screaming children and felt the atmosphere would have been better without kids running around or yelling in the dormitory halls.

Location and available transportation created a very restrictive situation. Last bus up to that elevated location was 19:00

Super clean and efficient. Fair warning its a little hike straight uphill from the train station unless you grab a bus or taxi. This was a great warm up in the mornings, not so pleasant in the evenings after hiking all day and the buses stop early to this point. We stayed in the new building in a family room with 2 sets of bunks and everything was super clean with a great mountain view. Downside was minimal airflow and no fans. You will have to rent towels for 12chf and a 40chf deposit if you don't have your own. You will also need coins if you want to use the laundry or want to lock the lockers. Breakfast was great and they do have dinner options though we ate in town.

Nice views of the Jungfrau from every room. All staff were friendly. it is dormitory rooms, but we were 3 families, 10 people. so we booked 6 beds room, 4 beds room and stayed like family room. Warm water came out well in shared shower room. Wifi worked well. Breakfast was beyond my expectations

price is expensive but it's normal in Grindelwald during high-season. All costs have gone up a lot after pandemic. We walked to the station, but it was difficult to go up because it was a hill, so we took a bus. you need to check bus schedule. (1-2 time per hour) The property provides free bus tickets.

A very traditional youth hostel, set back from the centre of Grindelwald so you truly feel like you are in nature. Stunning views of the mountains from the terrace and the rooms - if you are looking for a quiet hostel where you can sit and embrace and admire the beautiful Swiss landscape then this is it. Three things to mention which were different from many other youth hostels: (1) there wasn't a separate plug socket for each bed in the dorms. Not an issue for me but this may bother some people. (2) WiFi worked perfectly well 90% of the time but did drop out on occasion. (3) there is not a kitchen (but they do have a fridge you could keep items in). Also... The hostel is set back from Grindelwald and it is a STEEP slope to walk there. I managed to do this with my rucksack the first night but after that did get the bus each day. So at times it felt like I was working around the bus timetable. Overall however - a great stay in a secluded, quiet hostel, where I felt away from the tourist drag of Grindelwald and was very happy to have stayed there.

Cleanest most comfortable hostel I have been to and in a early 1900s wooden chalet with sweeping views of the Eiger to boot. Great value for money in expensive Grindelwald!

A few other reviews have mentioned the walk from the train station up to the hostel. It is VERY STEEP (feels like walking up 45 degrees for 5 straight minutes) and should not be done lightly and definitely not by someone without at least average levels of fitness. Should definitely not be done with roller bags. You can easily get a bus from nearby the train station up to the hostel but the last one runs at about 8pm so be warned and try not to arrive later than that!

The room was very spacious, and the balcony offered a direct and stunning view of the mountains. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide variety of choices, perfect to start the day. The hostel also provided amenities like a water heater and a microwave, which were very convenient. There were plenty of bathrooms available, making it easy and comfortable even during busy hours. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Grindelwald.

One thing to note about Grindelwald Youth Hostel is that the location is quite a distance from the train station. Bus service to the hostel is limited and only available until 6:44 PM. After that time, you would need to walk to reach the hostel. It's something to consider if you are arriving late or carrying heavy luggage.

The Swiss milk for breakfast was delicious, the milk was delicious, and the window had a beautiful view of the snow-capped mountains. Just at the beginning of the check in, we arrived in the evening, did not find a way to get to the hotel by bus, but carried our luggage up the gravel road. The rainy road was a little slippery, and the journey was very difficult, but it was worth it to see the scenery outside the window.

There is no hot water for bathing after 10pm.

The hostel was very clean, classy, with great staff and facilities. You have whatever you want during your stay. Great breakfast is also included. And it is a good place for those who want to find friends and make their trip more enjoyable.

The location is great. However, if you arrive later than 18:45, there is no vehicle to get you to the hostel. So, in such a case, you have climb up high-dip uphills to reach the hostel. Just anyone who wants to go to this hostel should be careful about SBB trains and local buses schedule. For me, although I already informed the hostel for the late check in, nobody told me the mentioned transfer limitation.
