Superb location some 1000ft above Lake Geneva/Le man. Exquisite olde worlde (Belle Epoch) charm. Outstanding welcoming, efficient, thoightful and thoroughly 'professional' service, delivered by a hotel which was fully staffed, knowledgable and courteous. The building is full of 19thC object d'arte, and feels like a living time capsule from a bygone era... which matches the perfect service. The food was excellent in both quality and presentation. The views from our lake-facing rooms were almost too beautiful to describe. Mountains, lake, sunsets, silence. Near perfect. Room service was similarly near perfect, with delightful details, such as 'foot-mats' by the bedside, sheets turned down correctly for bed-time, complimentary mineral water, and a lovely range of tasteful odds-n-ends on the expansive bathroom.

It would be almost impossible to improve. Never, in all my 60+ years of travel and scores of hotels, have I found a place like this one.

The old fashioned room was fantastic and had also a good view. The garden and pool area are beautiful and the view is breathtaking. The breakfast was excellent both in terms of location and food.

The room bathroom could use some renovation. There is no AC in the hotel and we needed to ask for a fan since it got pretty hot even in June. The lobby and sitting area is a collection of old (not antique) pieces that are casually positioned in a very cluttered setting: it needs some redesign badly. The hotel is very expensive but, I suppose, that goes for everything in Switzerland. BTW, the city of Montreux is overrated.

Amazing place full of history in a calm and beautiful place. Extremely welcoming, I would say it was best welcoming in the world when we arrived. The restaurant was already closed but we were treated with delicious improv dinner in the room. Nice lake view and easy way to have a nice walk up to the mountains as the hotel is situated up the hill almost above the town. All the hotel rooms & public places really elegant, lake & mountain range view from my room was just outstanding. Also enjoyed to follow with eyes a train climbing a hill. Everything is so picturesque here. Definitely would like to come back

1) I wanted to know the names of the peaks and no one from staff members could tell me the names. I was advised to look on internet, ))) but with mountains that’d really complicated, sometimes impossible, you have to upload Peackfinder etc. At least print the panoramic map with peaks names so it could be possible to get to know. 2) There are two dining salon, one with direct lake view, another is not. Unfortunately we were not lold that if we want to have a table in Blue Salon then better to ask in advance. It was kind of disappointing because first morning you especially would like to enjoy a view. Next day was Monday so it was empty and we could sit wherever we want.

Lovely old fashioned atmospheric hotel. Very high quality, very clean and well loved and cared for with excellent staff and lots of nice touches. The amazing hill top setting overlooking the lake is something I won't forget.

We stayed during the heatwave and the hotel does not have air-conditioning as is a period building, however we were provided with a good electric fan and were able to stay cool enough to sleep very well. Not a huge amount to choose from at breakfast for vegans but what there was was good quality and delicious( fruit salad and breads)

Beautiful la Belle Époque architecture! It feels like you're in a museum since the building dates back to its 19th century inauguration. Its interior is well decorated in that style and it brings you back in time to its golden years. The view is one of a kind and breakfast outside in Summer is simply superb! I was in town for the Montreux Jazz Festival and the hotel memory outlasted that of the performance I saw!

It's a long way to the very top of the mountain so you must be driving if staying here.

Warm initial reception, both by the front desk and the porter who showed us our room. We loved the period furniture in the room and attention to detail with bathroom towels etc and toiletries; the small food snack provided; the embossed writing paper; the Victorian heaters in cast iron; the lift which worked quickly; the beautiful gardens; the chance to eat breakfast outside; the opportunity to use the sauna and jacuzzi privately; the incredible breakfast spread; the extensive collection of art and objects of art the hotel displayed. The kindness of the hotel owner’s wife, who let us have one of the hotel’s clothes hangers with the hotel name upon it as a momento of the stay.

The view, from one of the side rooms, was not especially impressive, but then, we did pay proportionately less for it.

This is a wonderful privately owned and operated hotel. It makes a change from the sameness of the multiples. Waiters are in white jackets and bows with excellent customer service. The location itself is a little village in its own right up a steep hill overlooking Montreux and the lake. The view in the morning is the most magnificent view I have ever had while enjoying breakfast. Staff are friendly, especially Jasmine, on reception. This hotel represents old world values in the best possible sense.

Maybe the bathroom in my room could do with a bit of a refurbishment. It's a bit old-fashioned - and not in a particularly good way.

We have been coming here since 1988 when we discovered it by accident and love it. As you ascend the mountain you enter into a more elegant age. It’s not whizzy high tech but is beautiful and to eat on the terrace overlooking the lake is magical. Breakfast scrambled eggs are amazing. The pool and gardens overlooking Lake Geneva are beautiful

My shower pressure was a bit weak - ok - but not brilliant but we were on the top floor. The room was great though.

A magnificent, characterful, nineteenth-century hotel in an excellent state of preservation standing 2500ft above Montreux with correspondingly wonderful views across the lake. Excellent outdoor pool. Lovely period bar and restaurant, the outdoor section of the latter allowing full appreciation of the view while dining. Lovely (if correspondingly expensive) meals.

My comfortable room was beautifully decorated but the tiny ensuite bathroom (clearly carved out of the original room) was more suited to a two-star hotel than four. I could forgive this in the context but in any other circumstances would have regarded this as a major complaint. Tea and coffee-making facilities in the room would have been appreciated.

The location was perfect. The views are absolutely stunning - really breathtaking. The grounds and garden are beautifully maintained, friendly staff. Also handy to be given a voucher for free local transport and discount on local attractions. The hotel is only a few minutes walk away from Glion station but they very kindly arranged to pick us up and take us back (very handy with the luggage)

Very dated bathroom, no air conditioning and breakfast was a somewhat disappointing (in terms of choice and service). It is a lovely building but the overall decor is an assault to the senses - feels more like a dated, over the top museum than a classy or traditional hotel. The art, ornaments, furniture are excessive so it makes it difficult to notice and appreciate individual pieces.
