I called them before booking as I was not travelling with my wife and 2 daughters and explained the situation to them as they were first time travelers to Montreux. It is a 15-minute walk from the station (with luggage). Once at the hotel, the staff were very helpful and guided my family for routes, restaurants etc.

We would have loved to have got an early check in, especially after a long journey from India. But it was not a deal breaker.

Great location, walking distance to restaurants,shops, lake and train station. Fantastic staff, reception staff were so helpful, kind and professional. The room location was great, two windows with different views. Extremely comfortable beds. Breakfast is available and looks tasty. Local supermarket nearby for fresh bread etc The reception was excellent for the internet connection, also charging sockets. Fresh hot water supplied in flasks when requested. Absolutely great price for the quality of room , service and location. Extremely comfortable and affordable. Updates on weather, activities and any information from reception. Lovely restaurant on ground floor nice menu. Would definitely stay again.

Missing a kettle in room.

The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff were polite. It was very quiet in the room, and there was ample space. The breakfast was good; however, it was surprising that scrambled eggs were available only for an additional fee, even though breakfast was already included in the price.​

The room lacked a kettle, and there was no option to have tea or coffee in the common area. Additionally, there was no laundry facility, which would have been very useful for us. Another downside was that the bathroom door didn't close completely, leaving a constant gap.

The room was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom was large and clean and modern. Staff were helpful. The free transport card was amazing. We got on the busses right outside the door of the hotel and travelled from Rennaz Village to Vevey and up the furnicular and hopped on and off at leisure. The views were spectacular and the busses were very regular. The hotel was handy to everything and although some renovations were happening it was quiet. We would stay there again. The breakfast was adequate.

Beautiful hotel - felt very grand - lovely room with view of church next door. Excellent location near Xmas markets, supermarket etc and bus stop to chateau. Uphill walk to train station with big case could be challenging in bad weather.

Strange man on front desk. Unusual manner on check in. Room not ready at 3.15 and simply told to wait in lobby while we watched multiple arrivals check in without problem! Same man reprimanded me for returning jug to counter - then made us a tray of tea!! Appears to lack consistent customer Service awareness. Hotel was busy but clearly not managing his role under pressure. Seemed short staffed. Desperately need to consider providing kettle in room - suggest bring your own tea water boiler (can buy individual electric element). Also no mini bar fridge as advertised. No apology, just told no rooms have them anymore. -

We had a wonderful experience at J5 Hotel Helvetie. The hotel exudes a charming heritage feel, making it unique and full of character. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, a tidy bit old though. A special mention to the receptionist, who was incredibly helpful. She helped us with our travel plans, ensuring we made the most of our stay. Her friendly and attentive service really stood out! Overall, a great place to stay with both charm and excellent service. Highly recommended!

J5 Hotel Helvetie offers spacious rooms with a charming, heritage feel, but it's more suited for those who appreciate classic character rather than modern luxury or fancy amenities.

Excellent room location looking out towards Lake Geneva. Easy access to the Casino (Queen Experience), lakeside walk, excellent bar (The English Pub) just around the corner, the market hall and Freddie Mercury statue, and the main shopping area. All just a minute or two away.

Not sure if the paid for breakfast is worth the CHF18 if prepaid… it’s all cold continental style. The cafes along the front offer superb fresh cooked pastries of all kinds. But as a start to the day its there ready to go. Being an old property with great character, the room door was not light tight from the lit hallways, but nit important in such a lovely hotel with history.

Spacious clean family room. A really treat to also have our room cleaned after our first nights stay. Great location, next to the Freddy Mercury Statue and a bus stop right at the door of the hotel.

If you pride yourself on warm and good service give this hotel a miss. Cold reception on arrival and at check- out it was exactly the same. When I got to the counter to let them know I was checking out, all I was told was the amount I need to pay for the city taxes. No 'good morning' , no ' how was your stay ', no 'thank you'- absolutely nothing! After just experiencing exceptional service in Lucerne, this cold impersonal service from the start to the end of our stay was very disappointing especially considering this was the leg of our 6 week overseas holiday.

The room was a good size, bathroom well fitted. the floor a little noisy. But an old building nothing to complain about. This visit my wife and I, were given a free upgrade. A very nice gift, from the manager. We were very happy to see our young Greek friend at reception, Konstantin very helpful as normal. As all the staff here go that extra mile to help you.

Nothing,- as regular visitors to this Hotel. We like coming here.

location was great.Staff were helpful & friendly.Hot water was provided when we asked so was able to make a coffee in room.Fridge was an advantage.Were able to leave our back packs there all day after checking out

Rooms a bit dated, drafts under both windows ,but we werent cold as curtains were thick & heating was warm.Found 2 insects like beetle things,thank goodness was as i was leaving or not sure I'd of slept easy.Wasnt offered the pass that let's you travel free on transport that I do believe was included
