The rooms upstairs have elevated arched wooden ceilings which creates the good feeling of staying at a little house, very special. The garden view from the balcony onto the lush green trees is almost therapeutic :-). One of the biggest bonuses in contrast to other hotels is that there is no music played outdoors and not at the bar, instead birds and the sea are heared...which is in complete harmony with the established old trees in which local wildlife is at home and would be otherwise exposed to unnecessary noise. This adds to the special nature and character of this resort...there is none comparable in the area although there are other nice resorts nearby in some of which I have stayed before. The breakfast is of higher standards than at the neighboring resort hotels. The meals at the restaurant are excellent and of good value...compliments to the chefs. The beach at this hotel is cleaner than at other neighboring properties. The staff is professional and takes good care of their customers. The caretakers of the green property have a genuine smile for everyone who has eyes for such culture. When walking onto this property after checking in I could not help it to feel a few waohs going through me, a good and peaceful energy of nature took over. I had not been to anything comparable on Phuket before. The guests were all great and seemed to be on a level of similar appreciation, which added to the overall atmosphere.

It would be difficult to find any

In general the resort is amazing! You have plenty of space within the garden and pool areas to relax. The room is very big, clean, a lot of towels and the bed is very comfy. The breakfast in the morning has a lot to offer and from the resort there are plenty of restaurants, supermarkets and shops.

To be fair, we just stayed there due to diving on the Similan Islands. The wood in the rooms is due to humidity a bit moldish and without having the AC on you smell it a bit. The bathtub is for older people (not us) difficult to enter as you have to take a big step down (just Want to mention this). If you want to travel 15 hours to only stay in a resort, relax and not seeing something from real Thailand, this is the perfect place :) We didn't like the other people staying there (bringing their towels early in the morning to reserve sun beds, felt very embarrassed!).

Beautifully designed, this is truly a tropical paradise. Such a relaxing place to stay, even though the hotel was full it was still possible to find yourself alone in one of the many lovely swimming pools. Staff were always friendly and polite. Perfect location wise too if you’re after a very relaxed and laid back pace. There are plenty of good local village restaurants less than 5 minutes walk away. A real bonus for us was the lovely beach and the little beach shack restaurants dotted along it - perfect for sunset drinks and barefoot dining.

Nothing that affected us at all. However, to note that this probably isn’t suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The hotel and grounds are on a very steep hill, mainly served by steps and extremely steep ramps. There also isn’t a lift, so be prepared for a hot climb up the stairs if you’re staying on the top floor.

Nice big comfortable room with good lighting. Breakfast had a huge range of options but a little disappointed at the basic fruit selection with no mango or passionfruit. Lots of different pools and plenty of well spaced lounge chairs. We had been here a long time ago- maybe 10 years or so and we like the location on the beach and the friendly small village with well priced restaurants- eg. Mali, My Thai and Sorrento and the 2 locals just along the beach for light lunch.

We were in the back block on the 2nd floor with a nice balcony facing a smaller pool, but and lots and lots of steps and ramps to reach the breakfast restaurant and probably 6-7 minute walk from our room to the beach. They really need to have an elevator. Didnt like the shower setup having 2 steps down to the bath.

This was our third time at the Khaolak Merlin Resort. The hotel has a beautiful setting amidst very green vegetation and at sunset one hears the cicadas in the garden. The beach is perfect for swimming and also walking. As it faces west there are beautiful sunsets. The breakfast was fantastic with abundant choice and it was possible for us to sit outside every morning. Nearby, within short walking distance, are many inexpensive but good restaurants. We asked for early check in, which we got at no extra charge.

Loved the spectacular setting, very lush and unobtrusive. Buffet breakfast was delicious too. The pools were amazing. Rooms lovely. Travelled off peak so very good value for money.

Amenities a little dated, but currently being renovated so that's perfect for those visiting next season, but a little noisy for us. Very large hotel that seems to offer 'all inclusive' package tours. Just remember when you book that, all your money goes to one provider and the local community misses out. Lots of the local restaurants etc look.like they struggle so remember to spread the love.

The greenery and open space.

This was an eco friendly hotel supporting wildlife and the ecology but little to no effort was made to tidy the beach area, Eden resort next to Merlin did this daily.

Our stay at Merlin hotel was beyond any expectation we could have had. We visited in May 2023 for our honeymoon, and they were kind enough to upgrade us to one of their private pool villas. We were blown away with how incredible this villa was! The rooms were absolutely stunning, and all the small details like fresh flowers in the bathrooms, a beautiful arrangement on the bed and the gorgeous pool with tropical plants all around just made it that much more special. The food was tasty (we were pleasantly surprised with the variety and quality of the buffet breakfast) and the service was impeccable. The beach was also stunning, and the perfect spot to watch the sunset over Khao Lak! We could not be more grateful for Merlin hotel giving us the dream start to our honeymoon, and could not recommend the hotel enough to anyone looking for a place to stay in Khao Lak!

Exceptionally green area, you live like in a wild forest. At the same time, the facilities are great, 2 big water pools, direct access to the sea. Very friendly stuff :) P.S. Recommendation: Don’t hesitate to go outside of the hotel! There are plenty good places along the beach (Kate’s Kitchen) and great massage 5 mins walk: B.Dok Bua Massage with cheaper prices.

The bathroom had creaking doors, old hair dryer and no coffee machine in the room (there were enough coffee at the breakfast though). The hotel map lacks the toilet facilities, it was hard to find them on your own. All others things were great.

Beautiful hotel in jungle in front of a stunning beach. Comfortable bed, good air conditioning and shower. Lovely balcony overlooking a quiet swimming pool. Quiet room. Good location only a few minutes walk from bars, restaurants, laundry, massages and tailors. There's also great bars/ restaurants 2 minutes walk along the beach. If you like nature/ birds it's a great location.

The drinks were not cheap but you have an empty fridge & supermarkets on your doorstep. The plugs were behind the beds. If they were made as singles it would be OK but as a large double they were behind the mattress.
