El barrio Lanna is a perfect hotel in Chiang Mai. We had sn amazing stay and we liked so much their instalations. All was very clean and tidy. The building looks like colonial, it is very nice. Boutique hotel with exceptionally comfy bed/mattress. It was easter weekend and staff member kindly did a happy easter sign for my 10 year old which was appreciated. Location is great and walking distance to most things. Breakfast was good too and the added afternoon coffee/drink station is a nice touch. Overall enjoyed our stay!

They requested $1000 baht or equivalent for security card deposit and could not check out until they ‘viewed’ the room which we felt was not a nice experience to the customer. Appreciate cards can be lost but they already have your credit card details and could work out in a more pleasant manner. We travelled in 7 different hotels in Thailand/Cambodia and this was the first time we had this experience. Room was a little small for the superior triple but comfortable all the same. Pool area fills up quickly (only 5 deck chairs) so be prepared not to have a seat when using the pool (appreciate hard due to limited space) as the pictures show a bigger space that the actual area (it is a great pool).

Nice big comfortable room, great bed, excellent shower, lovely staff and a balcony. Location in old town is good, which made things within walking distance. The entrance path leading to the reception and how they have used the plants was pretty. No problem with WiFi.

I was a little disappointed with the breakfast, it was pleasant but definitely lacking options and each morning I felt like I couldn’t really find something I wanted to eat. The pool looks lovely but it’s a little small. The hotel is next to a school and although I could not hear the children the road outside of the hotel got busy during drop off and pick up time. Balcony view was not the best.

All staff are so lovely, they really want to make sure we have everything we need. I like this hotel because the room design is comfortable to stay in and the service is very helpful and friendly also always smile :) Breakfast was lovely and the location was perfect - we found it so easy to get to the places we wanted to visit. We could have easily stayed a little longer. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. I was swimming and suddenly the staff took the initiative to give me a towel. I was very happy with the service of this hotel. I recommend you try to stay this hotel. I stayed 2 times in this hotel while going to Chiang Mai.

The El Barrio Lanna is a gem of a hotel, located in a quiet back street but right in the centre of Chiang Mai old town. A calming, relaxing, intimate place to stay, yet convenient for the main attractions of Chiang Mai. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and were very accommodating, even arranging a 5am check-in for us, courtesy of the lovely security guard. The breakfasts were brilliant, served in a well-appointed little restaurant. Our room was excellent - everything was top quality. The pool area (in a small courtyard) was a highlight, even offering all-day complimentary soft drinks and tasty biscuits.

The insects by the pool in early evening - maybe they could have used a few incense burners?

Extremely nice and helpful stuff, beautiful and comfortable room, had everything we needed, nice pool, albeit a bit cold. There were freely available snacks and drinks by the pool during the whole day, which was a nice touch.

The breakfast could have been a bit more varied, although we did love having a choice of how we'd like our eggs and getting them freshly cooked. Also, once you leave the room, the electricity goes out and you can't use a different card than the one, which unlocks the room, to keep it on, so we couldn't leave the air conditioning running in-between. But neither of those significantly affected our stay.

Loved the room with the mountain view! I got to see the sunrise and sunset without leaving my bed and the balcony looked out onto plants so I felt like I had a jungle view despite being right in the city center by the big temples, shopping streets, and night market. The service was wonderful, the room large and comfortable for relaxing, the sheets were soft and the room very clean! The pool looked clean and refreshing, although I didn't get a chance to try it. The security at the entrance who helped with the luggage and late returns added peace of mind and a friendly face to the stay. The snacks and drinks available by the pool changed often for variety and were such a wonderful addition! I would definitely come back/recommend this hotel.

The mini toiletries felt like something a lower-end hotel would offer and took me out of the luxe experience. The room service is also only between 10am - 2pm so I ended ordering from grab in the evening when I had to catch up on emails (I saw several other hotel guests doing the same). Not a big deal as it's right beside the night market and several restaurants!

The room is nicely prepared for 3 pax and the hotel personnel are quick to answer my questions prior arriving ensuring that I booked the correct room. Is a boutique, small & cozy hotel to spend your time in the room and have some family time. The hotel is located at the Chiang Mai old city and is convenient to walk a little to temples and even restaurants. One of the nights I grab food and it was a recognisable place, so thumbs up. And we had tour packages and the picked up from hotel is smooth without much problem too!

We arrived a little earlier than check-in time and got to wait for quite sometime, it would be better if the reception could give an estimate so we can go out and come back rather than keep waiting because we heard - wait just a moment but that took over 45 minutes.. If you come with old folks, you have to really use grab or tuk-tuk to come back to the hotel or else it would be too far to walk.

We stayed for two nights at El Barrio. The hotel may be a little secluded and away from the main road but you will get the privacy while it is still within walkable distance. The room is cozy and bed is super comfy. Love the interior of the room as well. Breakfast spread may be limited but it was delectable. There were free flow of hot and cold beverages provided during the stay which is very thoughtful. Pool may be small but it was very serene environment. Staff is polite, friendly and helpful.

The hotel is a boutique hotel in the old town area. Rooms have a nice touch of Lanna architecture which we loved. Nice timber detail and timber doors opening to a small balcony with an outdoor setting overlooking the pool downstairs and mountain views. We loved the large very comfy beds and very modern bathroom which was extra large and had doors opening to a balcony if you chose to open it!! We loved the drinks and little cookies with cool drink and Tea and coffee set up poolside as soon as you enter. So welcoming after a hot day out. The hotel is located in a quiet secure side street 6 mins by taxi from the airport. We walked to the main road to the restaurants and the temples. Dont forget to take the hotel card with you as you head out. Don’t miss Wat Jet Lin Temple which is just around the corner and has a peaceful garden with a canal where you can feed the fish and turtles (purchase feed with your coins). A real oasis three minutes away from the hotel. We also walked to Wat Chedi Luang at night after dinner (open till 10pm) and there was no one around. It was lit up. It was a whole different experience. All walking distance from the hotel and we felt very safe at night. There are tuk tuks which invariably drive past the hotel so very easy to get transport as well. The reception staff are very helpful with booking tours. The breakfast buffet has an egg station where you can order your selection of eggs cooked to your preference. Couldn’t fault anything during our stay here. I would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay in Chiang Mai.
