My flight arrived in Chiang Mai just before midnight and the taxi dropped me at the hotel at 12:30. The night security guard took me to my room and advised me to check in after 6am. My room was on the 3rd floor—one of the suites. Hugh room, king sized bed, enormous bathroom with excellent shower—-appreciated after traveling some 30 hours. The a/c was off, but two large ceiling cassettes cooled it down quickly. In the morning, had an excellent breakfast and the helpful young man at the desk checked me in and spent a good 15-20 minutes showing me how to navigate the city to see all the highlights.

I hate that the electricity is controlled by your keycard so when you leave the room, you can’t charge your devices.

Great place to stay in Chiang Mai old city - close to lots of different restaurants and attractions. Staff were very helpful and friendly, and even contacted me after we left something behind in the hotel (they kept it until we returned to the city the next week) The TV in the room was fantastic, modern smart TV so you could unwind with YouTube, Netflix etc The pool was brilliant with a nice depth of up to 1.7m, more than normal hotel pool sides! Their breakfast was tasty, and they had dinner options which were also good. Plus, stocked beer fridge at front of hotel 👍

Lovely place in the old city. Super friendly and attentive staff, we had the family room, which was spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast sets were great, and you could pick some additional things. Special thanks for the drop off at the airport, my daughter forget her stuffed animal in the car, the man (hotel staff) came running back just before we went through security; he’s a true legend. That kind of symbolized our stay at this great boutique hotel.

Good location. Great staff. Clean and comfortable hotel. The breakfast was good. Overall a good place to stay.

This doesn’t apply to the entire hotel, just the rooms near the street, but we were in room 201, and the restaurant was directly above us on the third floor, so it was a bit noisy until 10pm or so. We also got the cooking smells (good and not so good) because of this. Just something to be aware of when you book a room.

I loved this place! I loved the whole classic feel of it. it’s charming, intimate, super clean, beautifully furnished with antiques. The staff is friendly and attentive. I felt so at home here! Loved the sweet way the rooms open to the pool/courtyard... the classical music playing. The thoughtful clothes rack to dry clothes. The location is right where you need to be to see the temples and go to markets and everything cultural.

They need to serve wines by the glass for an international crowd. And, have snacks to go with beer.

The hotel was clean, small but efficient, house keeping was good and the bed comfortable. Good shower and the room was a decent size. The pool was small but we didn’t use it, it was kept clean. The breakfast was basic but nice juice and water in a bottle so you can take away if you wanted to. The location was quite but not far from restaurants and bars and temples, just round the corner from the walking street market and a short ride to the town night markets… We enjoyed staying in the old town it was with the price we paid

There wasn’t anything that we didn’t like about the hotel, we were quite happy with everything, if you’re not expecting a 5 star hotel you will be happy to stay here… you get what you pay for, very reasonable accommodation for a very reasonable price

Staff were so helpful and friendly. Gave advice on the best tours to take. This hotel is so centrally located you can get anywhere in the old town by walking. Pool whilst small was lovely to use and it was almost always empty. Even though it’s in the centre, you can sit outside and have a peaceful breakfast. Would recommend to anyone staying in the old town.

Water wasn’t hot for showers on a couple of occasions. That would be my only complaint.

Excellent breakfast, great location, quiet and comfortable room, helpful and friendly staff

Our bathroom had a strong sewer gas odor, we are engineers who know plumbing so we had a pretty decent work around for it. Others in our group had no such complaints in their rooms. During the first shower in our room all water pressure was lost so my soaped up husband had to go to our friend’s room to finish his shower. Hotel staff reacted quickly - probably resetting a pump - and water flow/pressure returned. The problem never recurred.

The Family Room at Baan Huen Phen was great for our stay. We loved the eclectic Thai and international decor and the Khao Soy and northern breakfast basket were a delicious start to the morning. Hotel staff were quick and efficient in helping us to book activities and we enjoyed lunch at Huen Phen restaurant up the street. The location was convenient for walking and tuk tuks around Chiang Mai old town.

Wish the pillows could be a bit softer.
