A nice cozy boutique hotel in the old town, walking distance to the temples, night market, restaurants and the Three Kings monument. It is always kept clean. We need to remove our shoes before going to our room (they provide lockers for shoes and slippers to roam the hotel and room). There is daily breakfast made to order from Western to Thai (love the choices). The hairdryer provided was great! And enough power outlets for charging devices. Room has a nice little balcony, though it was about 34 deg Celsius when we were there, so too hot to sit there in the day. They also left us additional snacks on our last night.

Nothing worth complaining.

The location is perfect. You can walk to anything within the old city walls and the night bazaar is just 15min of walking distance. And the sunday walking night market is literally outside the hotel. The thing that stood out for us was the staff. Everyone was so kind and humble, it almost made us shy. Breakfast is good. You choose what you want from a fixed set of options and it's freshly made and delicious. Special shout out to lady Phung, the kindest woman who was serving us breakfast every morning. The switching to sandals did not bother us at all. We would easily recommend booking Makkachiva when visiting Chiang Mai.

We were with 3 people in the room so it would have been nicer if the room was a tiny bit bigger. Also maybe more storage space to place your clothes?

i loved that it was a boutique hotel. small and intimate. you entered and accessed your room right-away. the breakfast that was included was insanely good- lots of selections and grateful for our waitress, Puhg who always took such good care of us. she always remembered that i take 2 cups of coffee and water. the staff- Fon & Fah were always more than helpful in helping us plan tours, taxi and had the best restaurant selections. Always felt at home, is what you get from these smaller boutique hotels. the staff was just amazing and i couldn’t thank them enough for the care they always provided. the location is another great reason to stay here. it’s centrally located to many shops, temples, restaurants and bars. walking distance to anything. i would highly recommend this place to anyone. get the room with a balcony- the views of people passing by and flow of the city is nicely appreciated. we rented a tuk tuk for a few areas we couldn’t cover by foot.

i loved everything about the hotel.

Superbly stylish boutique Hotel in the heart of the Old City. Stacked full of lovely little Thai touches and lots of great art throughout. A feast for the eyes. Breakfast had a dozen Set options, most were pretty tasty, both Asian and Western. Bed was lovely and hard although pillows very soft. Staff were attentive throughout. Complimentary fruit and soda was much appreciated. Adjacent to walking street and the Sunday market. Wat Chedi opposite is a real gem.

Not a lot to dislike here- only the cramped bathroom and the limited closet space stopped us giving Makkachiva a 10.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, with decoration in dark wood and Thai motives, and a very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. The room was spacious and extremely clean. You cannot wear shoes inside the hotel (only hotel slippers) and that makes it feel cleaner too. The breakfast is not buffet, instead you choose a breakfast set from a menu. They have 4 or 5 Thai sets and a couple continental ones (eggs, bacon, etc). Breakfast is served until 12, which allowed us to go out, visit the city during morning and come back for a late breakfast (or early lunch), and trying the Thai breakfast sets (noodle beef soup - undescribably delicious). The location is superb - walking distance from everything in old town (if you can tolerate the heat!!).

Can barely think of one thing. I would just suggest the hotel could rethink the shower tray/floor, which has a step on it making it a bit challenging to stay under the shower.

The hotel serves excellent a la carte breakfast which is very tasty and filling. The hotel staff were without exception very courteous and helpful. The hotel is situated within the old city so accessible to most tourist locations and restaurants. The rooms are not huge, but comfortable and clean.

If there is a scope for improvement then it is probably the lack of storage places in the room. There are no cupboards and drawers to put things away. This is especially frustrating when your stay is for several days.

Perfect location in the old town - everything is in minutes of walking distance, very nice design - somewhat spiritual in context with the city's overall atmosphere, they also ask you not to walk with shoes in the facilities and give you slippers. Very warm and welcoming service, breakfast is a la carte, but they accommodate your requirement if you want some changes e/g/ veggie option etc. Highly recommended

This hotel is simply beautiful, relaxing and welcoming from the moment you walk in. The art and decor of the building is truly worth taking time to look at. The staff was excellent, and extremely helpful and friendly. We enioyed coming back to the hotel every evening to a nice greeting. The breakfast was nice and the service first rate.

The room has no drawers, so you have to keep your clothes in your suitcase.

Hotel Makkachiva was a pleasant surprise, we enjoyed our 5 nights stay greatly. Location was perfect, in close walking distance to everything. Staff was very polite and professional. A special thank you to the lady at the breakfast venue. Such a delight to observe her kind spirited way to serve, even with special requests. Room service was performed meticulous everyday. Would definitely suggest to booking a room on the 4th floor with the balcony.

Nothing really.

Clean, serene, well located hotel. Love how calm everything is in the hotel. Love the greenery all around. Good breakfast selection and while it is not buffet, it’s enough to fuel you for the morning. Highly recommend!

We could hear the next door neighbor- but I think we just had a particularly loud and boisterous group of girls next door! Once they settled down to normal (non-shouting/excited) conversations then we can’t hear anymore
