This is a cool place to be and have some fun. The rooms are air-conditioned, and the Internet is working well. There were some free food available when I was there. There are some extra services around such as barter and a painter. Additionally, if you check in late, there is 24/7 reception which is useful when traveling to Chiang Mai by bus or train.

The needs of digital nomads are not met quite easily since there are no desks and quiet places where one could work. The only place was in a bar but loud music and such made it more challenging. Additionally, the bar closes at 11. In the main building, there are some desks to work on online but the chairs feel like they can break your back, not so comfortable. The complimentary breakfast felt cheap with only a couple of eggs or similar.

Very social and easy to make friends as a solo traveller. Location is perfect everything is a close walk. Many events every day and night so it would be hard not to be entertained. There are also chill Staff were amazinggggg definitely made my stay better. Special mentions to Ale and Zee who were so welcoming and engaging.

Very minor but the pool was really shallow couldn’t swim properly haha, also wasn’t a fan of the music selection do better!!

A very comfortable hostel. I had the room on the third floor so It was silent there. A good common area to socialise and many events happening every evening allow you to get to know other people!

Nothing! It’s a great place to stay. If you get rooms on the lower floors then the music might disturb you but they anyways shut off the area at night so you will have your sleep easily.

Really good hostel, great if you’re looking for sound people and an upbeat vibe, staff were incredible and nothing was too much hassle especially Fiatz who was amazing! He made sure to look after us whilst we were there and gave us some great information about what the best things to do in Thailand are, he is a credit to the company!

Nothing it was great

Arguably the best Hostel that I’ve stayed over the past 12 years of traveling. I travel 6-7 months of the year in SoAmerica, Europe and Asia and the facility and staff are impressive. The design of the lodging, bar, restaurant, pool, cleanliness and a kind and helpful staff. Well managed facility.

Place was a bit hidden but adds to its character. Also, recommend to rent a scooter if you’re planning on staying 2 or more days which can be done there or a short walk to town from ferry.

ChiangMai has been the highlight of my 6 months travel, and particularly coming to Mad Monkey and meeting the amazing people. I was immediately welcomed by their Rep Rowan and I couldn’t be more thankful. Rowan made me feel so comfortable and welcome and we went on to spend so much time together over my 6 day stay! I made the bestest of friends here! The beds are super comfortable, the facilities are amazing from the pool, to the indoor dining area, to the gyms as well as all the lovely staff who are helpful and attentive! I absolutely will return

Massive shout out to Rowan and the manager / reception staff, just so nice and helpful!! Loved the vibe here, great social hostel the staff really get involved with the people staying at the hostel, super friendly and helpful, comfy beds, nice pool and great location, also really nice spacious bathrooms on each floor, 100% recommend this one.

Just one thing and that was the food from. Whine the bar wasn’t great 😬 and what times can be long also

Absolutely fantastic hostel. The hostel offered a wide variety of trips and activities throughout the day and evening time. Even during ‘quiet season’ in August/September the hostel was still bustling with travellers all willing to get involved. The staff were brilliant at getting everyone together and involved, big shoutout to Stefan and Chaii who were fantastic at organising our activities and taking us out each night. Would definitely recommend this hostel for anyone travelling either alone or as a group.

I did like the vibe of the hostel, fun and urban. Room was okay value for money. The location is absolutely prime right in the center of everything worth checking out and happening in Chiang Mai.

The rooms just smelled really bad, I think it's more to do with fellow dorm mates leaving leftovers and dirty clothes around and not looking after the rooms. And I don't mind the loud music either but if someone likes quiet, this place isn't for them.

We had an amazing 3 nights in Chiang Mai. The staff in Mad Monkey, particularly Chai, Corey and Peng made our stay extra special - helping to locate both a lost passport and phone and making sure we enjoyed our time here. We would 100% recommend both groups and solo travelers to stay at Mad Monkey as there is a great atmosphere, with lots of events and day trips organized by the hostel. One of our best nights out in Thailand was the pub crawl organized by Mad Monkey - this is a must!!
