The reception area was beautiful and a good place to sit for a meal and a drink whatever the weather. The pool area was lovely too. Food very good and good choice at breakfast. Location a little out of town so you need to order a taxi or tuktuk from the reception each time you need to go out but they do also have bicycles if you want to use those. I loved the fact the hotel is built into the forest as it makes for a more natural feel. Staff very helpful and attentive.

The rooms were really small but as we were out most of the day it wasn’t too much of a problem. One other issue was there was no wardrobes but only a few coat hangers to hang clothes so mostly having to keep everything on a suitcase on the floor with limited floor space.

Staff were absolutely lovely, a good location that is not in the busy typical tourist area but close enough to central area and main temples. Attentive with free snacks, shuttle is night market. Easy to get a cab and move around.

If you are looking for a grand pool, this might not be the hotel for you! The pool is small but lovely for a chill out.

We stayed at The Rim for 2 weeks and could have stayed forever. The staff are delightful, helpful and polite. Our room was spotless every day and we were very very happy there. The restaurant is great value for money with well-cooked, delicious meals. The bar is well priced with a good range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We will use The Rim as our go-to, home away from home every year. Would love to have insect screens on the doors so we could have doors open at night. Comfy, big bed. Great coffee facilities in the room. Australia channel on the TV- great for AFL season! Executive King Room.

The Rim absolutely exceeded all our expectations. The staff were simply wonderful and met all our needs and beyond. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Location of the hotel is great, just on the edge of the Old City with easy access to the center (they have free shuttles to the night markets) and less than 15 mins to the airport. Water and coffee capsules were refreshed everyday complimentary. Also the airport pickup and drop off was complimentary and easily arranged by the hotel. Every detail was appreciated! We would definitely stay here again :)

Nothing, everything was perfect.

From the moment I stepped into The Rim Chiang Mai, I knew I was in for something special. But what I didn’t realize was just how much I would miss this place and its people the moment I left. The architecture is a perfect blend of traditional Lanna elegance and modern comfort—every corner tells a story. The garden paths, the wooden beams, the serene pool area—it’s like living in a tranquil painting. But what truly brings The Rim to life is its people. The staff… oh, the staff. Every face I saw greeted me with the most genuine Thai smile. Warm, caring, always eager to help—whether it was the front desk making sure I had everything I needed, the housekeeping team greeting me with a “Sawasdee ka” every morning, or the restaurant crew remembering my coffee just the way I like it. It wasn’t just service—it was connection. Every interaction felt like family. They didn’t just provide hospitality; they shared it from the heart. They made me feel seen—and that’s rare. Whether I needed help with my plans for the day or just wanted to chat about the culture, there was always someone with a smile and an open heart. The rooms were spotless, with thoughtful touches and a calmness that made unwinding effortless. Breakfast was a dream—local delights with fresh fruit and the kind of coffee that gently nudges you into the day. When I think of Chiang Mai now, I think of more than temples and night markets—I think of The Rim, and the way it made me feel: cared for, calm, and completely at peace. I miss it already. A Home Away From Home – Thai Hospitality at Its Finest

The staff were excellent. Whether at breakfast, at the Canal restaurant in the evening, or at reception at anytime of the day all the staff were unfailingly helpful, friendly, courteous and engaging. We were in a Grand Deluxe King room with balcony which was very spacious, with a huge, comfy bed. I recommend paying the little extra for a larger room facing the garden, which is a little more tranquil than those directly facing the pool. The pool, by the way, adds another facet of happiness to the Rim's laid-back vibe. Breakfast was always well presented, varied and interesting, and regardless of your preferences it would be hard not to find something to one's taste.

Ok, there are a few flaws. Some may say that the hotel has seen better days and that the decor and finishes are a little tired. It's true that both inside the rooms and around the hotel generally, decoration could be improved. A refurbishment will need to be undertaken at some point in the next few years to keep this jewel of a hotel sparkling and relevant to the modern traveller. But understand that one could apply the same recommendation to Chiang Mai as a whole. However that's not the reason why one travels to this wonderful city or chooses to stay at this classically Thai hotel. Don't expect London chic or slick Singapore facilities. Just fethe warmth of the hospitality.

The room, breakfast and location were all great! We especially liked the authentic Thai feel of the hotel while enjoying comfort and amenities. We also really appreciated all the complimentary snacks, water and mini bar items. Very generous! And the staff were so helpful in arranging anything we needed like transportation, shopping or tours.

We did experience a lack of hot water when showering. It was never cold but only just warm. Perhaps it was the time of day but the system didn't seem to fully support the needs of guests. Also, the pool was lovely but too cold to really enjoy which was unfortunate.

The room was enormous and the beds super comfy. We overlooked the pool on the ground floor which was great. the breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of food choices. The hotel was easy to find, on the edge of the old town and the pool was fantastic on hot Thai days. The staff were great and the little touches for long stay guests were much appreciated such as a complimentary drink and a lovely tiered snack set.

There was really nothing I didn't like about this hotel, I really didn't want to leave.

As someone with some experience with various accommodation options in Chiang Mai , this is an all-round excellent choice, particularly for the first-timer. Great location on the edge of the old city, spacious comfortable rooms, (surprisingly) excellent food, a nice swimming pool, and small fitness room. Staff incredibly friendly and efficient. It’s all done calmly and effortlessly, which makes for a very relaxing time.

Small quibbles, but hot water in the shower comes for a couple of minutes , and then goes for a minute or so, but then comes back again, without too much ‘pain’. Variety of fruit available at breakfast a bit hit and miss. Some days an abundance, other days less choice. Although that seems to the case with many hotels etc in Thailand.

The staff was exceptional. We really were impressed with the young gentleman who showed us to our room the first day. Throughout our trip he would keep us updated on shuttle pick ups that we requested to go to the markets and for our drop off to the airport. We like the spacious room. The breakfast and staff were really good too.

The water temperature when taking a shower would be hot and then cool down when taking a shower. The internet was not very good, it would take a long time to bring up websites.
