Amara Beach Resort was located on a beautiful and quiet beach. The sunsets are amazing and there are several places to eat and drink along the beach. There is a 7/11 next door to the hotel and you can rent a scooter opposite. The bedroom was clean and the air-con worked well. The pool was good.

The bathroom could do with being updated slightly, the toilet seat was not secure but this wasn’t a big issue!

We stayed in a spacious, ground-floor room with big windows. The room was very clean. The resort had a lovely smaller swimming pool and very pretty grounds that were kept clean and tidy. We loved the breakfast in the morning. Many options, even for veg/vg! The staff were super nice, very smiley and welcoming. The location was good, a resort on a beach, few meters from 7/11 and some good restaurants. We had such a lovely stay!

Not the hotel's fault, but there was a group of people staying next to us and they were very noisy especially on our last night, talking and shouting on a balcony till early morning hours as if they were in a bar. Always slamming the door. It was very disrespectful towards other guests staying. It would be nice if the resort had -” Quiet hours “at night

Hotel is nice and it offers good amenities for a fair price. Location is unlucky if you want to swim and enjoy the sea. Hotel is clean and well maintained.

We did not like Koh Pangan as the destination. Very dirty, dusty place. Sea is impossible to swim in - extremely dirty water with stones and sea urchins. I tried to swim when water got cleaner, got a scratch of a stone and the wound have been healing for a 3 weeks or so. I understand why locals organise Full Moon Party - it is the only reason to come to this God forsaken island. Nearby Koh Samui is fairly developed with good clean sea. Koh Pangan is just awful. One of the worst destinations in Thailand whatsoever.

We were on the first floor with a wonderful large balcony. It was lovely for relaxing on The breakfast was not great, we are vegetarian and choice was extremely limited. The area is quite nice, we didn’t really get to the beach it was too busy for my daughter. She prefers quiet beaches. The staff were excellent. There was a man on the reception that was really helpful and friendly

the pool is weird. The pool was right out side peoples rooms there were literally steps from their balcony in to the pool and a thin walk way to one side so everyone passes by. You feel you are in someone’s private pool. It just doesn’t work right

We had 2 rooms next to each other which worked as a family of 4. Good size rooms with lovely comfy beds. Bedding & towels changed daily. Great buffet breakfast. Helpful staff. Perfect location, right on the beach but quiet at night. 7/11 just next door. Best coffee opposite and Thai food shack up the road. It was quite expensive but I think it's fairly standard for what we got.

A decent sized pool to cool off in, however many broken tiles at one end (assuming from scuba training) which can cause scrapes and cuts. Easy to avoid if you stay down the deeper end.

Staff was very sleepy & not very hospitable: At the breakfast the coffee was only refilled after 3 times signalizing them it was empty; during the dinner we had to wait a long time and the food was not brought at the same time (mine was brought when my wife already finished her dinner) even if we were almost the only guests while the waitress was dreamingly looking at the beach; the room was not cleaned properly - leaving dirty & wet towels lying on the room floor; on the last day there was no running tap water in the room/building, but when telling the reception it seems it doesn't matter to them (no explaination for the breakdown, no excuse, no clear expression of sorry - just no reaction but shrugs); no farewell wishes at departure etc., etc. All in all not the typical Thai hospitality

Very clean room. Great beach! Good location, many good cafes right next to the hotel. Nice breakfast and coffee. Hotel staff very nice helpful with scooters, diving, etc. Great value for money

Room decor is pretty old. Not a nice view from the room windows. Pool is not fun to stay in.

My partner and I felt right at home staying at Amara resort and loved relaxing in the bar and restaurant. We had a pool side room for 3 days initially but ended up extending to 6 we loved it here so much. The location itself is perfect… right on the beach with deck chairs to enjoy, amazing sunset views and amongst some other great restaurants to eat too! The food and cocktails were delicious! We went for the buffet breakfast with our accommodation and were super happy we did. There was a choice of Continental or hot breakfast with eggs cooked to your taste. The staff were so friendly. You could tell it was a great place to work. We loved the warm welcomes, good morning and smiles from all the staff, whilst they still respected our privacy when we were in the pool or on our verandah. We are queer couple travelling and would absolutely recommend Amaras as a queer friendly establishment. We would 100% come and stay here again.

The bed was a little hard for my taste, but that seems common in Thailand.

This resort was ideally located in Haad Yao close to the main beach and very modern spacious rooms with a lap pool close to the onsite restaurant overlooking the beach itself, where food and drinks were served at reasonable prices The double bed was one of softest and comfiest beds I have slept in whilst travelling Asia which was very much appreciated. There was a 7 Eleven store walking distance close by as well as a few cafes and restaurants which was very handy. Staff were very polite and very helpful in organising my return trip back with taxi and ferry tickets back to Koh Samui Airport that made everything very easy and very seamless. I would be more than happy to return here as I found the location very appealing as it is more relaxed vibe on the North West side of Koh Phangan away from the young party goers in the south. Tip: For those looking for a more peaceful holiday. Make sure you don't arrive on Full Moon Beach party day (held once a month) as the crowds and ferries / transport is chaotic on arrival on Koh Phangan and very hard to find any motos to hire anywhere on the island. Better to stay 2 days after this event when everything goes much quieter,

The room has an adjoining door (to open up if staying with families) to the other room which unfortunately doesn't insulate the noise from the other people as I was unfortunate to have other guests staying and talking late into the night and early hours of the morning during my stay. A limited buffet breakfast was included every morning with the room which it was cooked a little bit too greasy for my liking (omelettes / scrambled eggs / bacon etc including cereals and fruits). I found it too repetitive to eat every day so chose another restaurant to eat for breakfast/brunch for more variety.

Great location right on the beach and near other restaurants. 7/11 next door. The room was spacious. The bed is extremely comfortable. AC works well. The staff at both the hotel and restaurant is excellent and friendly. The restaurant has decent food. I also enjoyed the free breakfast with custom omelette.

The Wifi did not work well in my room. The tiles in the bathroom were very dirty and moldy. It needs to be deep cleaned and fixed and then it would truly be worth the price!
