Fab area so close to the centre but far enough away to not get the noise, very clean , staff very helpful and a pleasure to be around. Celebrating Sonkran with you all was amazing too and a great experience.

Nothing to majorly dislike , but does need a bit of tarting up in the outside areas , nothing major ! The only thing of concern was how many chlorine tablets were in the pool , it’s ruined our swim wear , this just needs looking at there were far far to many (pool plant operator qualified UK) put into the actual pool not the filter system.

Didn't have enough Sunbeds and shades otherwise we'd love to have used the pool a little bit more and the girl at the bar was rude when I didn't purchase a drink from her and she kept staring at me when I was talking to people in the bar area which I found uncomfortable

The staff and bar restaurant are awesome and so very friendly Martin and his crew help you meet so very many people The hotel is quiet but right in the centre of all the action We made so many friends JJ the owners son is very professional and helpful

Air con could be improved

The location was perfect for accessing main activities in the area. The beach, shopping and Bangla road all within short walking distance. Loads of street food vendors to choose from, offering authentic Thai food only a few meters from the hotel. The staff were really helpful and friendly. For a budget hotel, you get a lot for your money. A lovely pool area that gets a lot of sun.

My only dislike was the shortage of coffee at breakfast. Only 1 cup is included with breakfast and additional have to be paid for. While this was not costly, it did irritate me. Maybe its just me!

From the moment I arrived at this hotel, I got an instant 'vibe" about this place, absolutely fantastic, friendly atmosphere and you quickly feel part of the Expat family. Martyn and every single member of staff are the friendliest people I've ever met, every one of them greeted me by name with a smile. The room was very comfortable and spotless, it was cleaned daily with fresh towels, clean bedding and bottled water. The hotel restaurant and bar was good value for money and the food was lovely. Martyn ran this place how a hotel/bar should be run, he takes the time to get to know everyone staying at the hotel, always on hand to help with any questions you might have about your stay, taxis, trips, etc...the bar has something going on most nights, so as a solo traveller it was perfect. The location could not be better, 3 mins to Bangla Rd. 5 minutes to the perfect spot on Patong beach. I cant rate this place highly enough, I spent the best 12 days of my trip here and made some wonderful friends. I will be back as soon as I can! If you're in doubt about booking this hotel, BOOK IT! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED 💯👌❤️

If I have one very slight negative, I struggled with the lighting in my room, but not a big deal

There are many advantages to this hotel. First, its location is unbeatable. Smack bang in the heart of Patong, right next to Bangla Street, yet conveniently away from the noise and bustle. Patong Beach is walking distance away. This place is mostly popular with long-staying expats, hence its name. The best thing is the swimming pool and the twin retro sports bars (yes, there are two bars at the property; one closes at 11 p.m., the other at 2 a.m.). All-women management, known for their extreme niceness, politeness, and helpfulness, completely runs the property. Their playful nature makes the environment very informal and enjoyable. The property has a very open policy towards outside guests and is non-intrusive, which I really like. There is also provision for massage, and the housekeeping is top-notch. They can arrange and book tours to the nearby islands and other tourist spots on the island. The street leading to the Expat Hotel has many low-cost eating options, which are additional advantages.

The pool at the Expat Hotel was out of service for a few days. I had to use the pool at the next-door Yorkshire Hotel, which has one of the best gyms in Patong, a steam and sauna, and a great pool.

excellent location, very close to night life but the location of hotel meant the hotel was very quiet. Clean rooms, friendly staff, nice bar/restaurant and swimming pool.

I would've liked a kettle in the room

Well situated from Bangla Road. Comfortable room without any frills. Basic bathroom. Nice and clean swimming pool. The receptionist was easy to get along with. Organised taxis and Tuk tuk. There is no lift and she was willing to carry a heavy suitcase up 3 flights of stairs. She stored a parcel for us whilst away on a 10 day trip. The breakfast is standard, but ample. They serve good quality coffee with breakfast!!! I would recommend if you are a no frills person

Location is excellent, walking distance to Bangla Road, shopping centre and Restaurants. Amazing atmosphere, the staff are always friendly and make you feel more than welcome. Been staying here every holiday over the past several years, previously stayed at bigger resorts, they just don't feel they care to much about their guests.
