I had an amazing experience at Hotel Saint Sophia! The staff were incredibly helpful, caring, and attentive from start to finish. A special mention to the manager at the reception, who went above and beyond to ensure our airport taxi driver found the best route and helped us get our luggage out without any hassle. It was so impressive to see him leave his desk to make sure we were safe and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding, offering a variety of delicious options to start the day. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—close to historical landmarks, great shopping spots, restaurants, and cafes. The location could not be better being immediately adjacent to all the major historical sites of the Sultanahmet area. Very friendly and helpful staff who show genuine concern for the guests happiness and welfare. Due to the location Taxi drop-off is 120m away but you are greeted at the location by Hotel staff (Thanks to Omar for being so efficient!)

The cleaning staff appear to leave cleaning materials and customer bedding on each floor which you have to navigate and does make some of the access areas appear rather untidy.

The location is EXCELLENT, a literal stone's throw from the Hagia Sophia. Central to the historic district, close to tram line stops. Getting to anywhere that you would like to go is very easy. We walked out of the hotel to the tram stop, took a tram and then the Marmary train to the Asian side, and we arrived on the Asian side in 30 minutes from the time we left the hotel on foot. You can get to many places on foot, but if you buy an Istanbulkart (easy to purchase and top off at the tram stop) you can save your feet and your time. The staff service was also EXCELLENT! Very friendly place. I would definitely stay there again.

The shower leaked onto the floor, even when we tried hard to keep the water inside. Other than that, the facilities were great. The hotel is smack in the middle of the historic district, and the taxis cannot stop in front of the hotel. I tried to explain this to my taxi driver, but he didn't seem to get what I was saying when I told him to call the hotel, and they would explain the drop-off point. This was only a minor annoyance, as the staff will help transfer your luggage, and it is NOT a deal-breaker. Definitely CALL the hotel before you leave the airport!

This little hotel is such a hidden gem I am almost reluctant to actually review it as I want to be able to book it in the future. This tiny (26 rooms I think) is a remodeled old Ottoman mansion. It does have a tiny elevator and a fairly tight staircase (I hit my head once on the low ceiling) but has so much going for it. First off the staff was consistently excellent. Gave us a rundown of the area and we were off to our room. The room, we had booked a "deluxe balcony room" was small but serviceable and well appointed. The bathroom was well done in marble was behind a large frosted glass wall. The bed was comfortable. and the balcony with two chairs and a table was spectacular. We could look directly at the Hagia Sofia in all its glory. It is in easy walking distance of everything in Sultanament and there is even a tram station close by. In addition its prices were in line with just about everything else in the area. We will 100% book this hotel again

Excellent location, very helpful staff

A sophisticated and beautifully designed modern hotel. The staff were delightful; incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate our spirited toddler! The breakfast was outstanding, both in quality and proportion! If we find ourselves back in Istanbul, we know exactly where we’ll be staying.

The location is fantastic as it is right next to the Sophia mosque, however, this does mean that you’re first to hear the call to prayer which disturbed our sleep two nights in a row. It is VERY loud! Also, our room was beside the tramline (there are other rooms on the other side of the hotel) so if you’re a light sleeper you may not want to stay in the old city — or you’ll need ear plugs!

Staff were amazing in their effort and accommodation of our needs. We turned up early and they were able to sort rooms immediately. Always offered a drink and a sit down chat to sort any of our needs. THANK YOU Sedat. The free afternoon tea is first class, we always made sure to attend and the bar was always ready with refreshments which was great in the heat. Our room was amazing with the best view imaginable. Directly across from the Hagia Sophia with an unobstructed view of the whole mosque. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to have an amazing stay in Istanbul, you can walk within minutes to the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the cisterns are across the street!

Fantastic location in the centre of the main tourist sights. Extremely helpful and pleasant staff. Generous breakfast. Shopping opportunities like no other city we have visited - though it helps to be impervious to the many requests from retailers to enter every shop and restaurant that you pass.

Only issue we had was defective heating controls in our room on the first night when the room was stiflingly hot. We raised this with staff the next morning and we were immediately offered another room so there was good responsiveness.

- Close to Hagia Sophia (literally behind the hotel) - close to the Blue Mosque - near the Tramvay Station : Mehmet - Love the Turkish breakfast spread which was individually placed on the table.. not a buffet.. we can eat all we want.. and I’ve been looking out for breakfast time daily so I could try everything on the menu - I love that it has a special celebration for my daughter’s birthday.. it was amazing seeing the joy in her face when they brought out the cake and sing for her.. This is my 2nd time here at Hotel Saint Sophia and I would definitely recommend this hotel to all. - The staffs are all super friendly from the moment you enter the hotel until the day you checked out. They were attentive to all our needs and always there to give a helping hand

The Hotel Saint Sophia is a lovely hotel, just across the street from the Cistern. And it is on one side of the Hagia Sofia cathedral. Topkapi Palace and the Blue Mosque are each five minutes walk away. It couldn't be in a better location for seeing the main sights of Istanbul. My room was a very high standard, with quality fittings and several nice touches that other hotels don't offer. The most outstanding thing though, was the breakfast. I ordered shashuka, which is a traditional Turkish breakfast. This came along with eleven small dishes of fruit, yoghurt and honey, olives, etc, plus a big selection plate of cheeses plus a big selection plate of croissants and breads. I would say this was one of the top two or three breakfasts I have had in my entire life. Thank you Hotel Saint Sophia for giving me such a pleasant stay.
