Location was good - very close to the port , not far from Galata Tower and Taksim Square. However the hills were a challenge to climb daily. The hotel is nice and small, it was also quiet and clean. The economy room was disappointingly tiny, so we upgraded to a better room. Thanks to the owner who gave us a discount. The second room was very big and comfortable. It was cleaned daily and water was served too. The rooftop restaurant has an excellent view. The staff is friendly and welcoming.

The room does not have bathrobes. We asked for two and the receptionist brought them to us. However one of them was torn up in the armpit. Nobody changed them in three days. The slippers were in yellow stains. The breakfast is not a buffet, it is served in a traditional style. Unfortunately we do not eat even half of the offered food. We expected to have pastries, vegetables , fruits and coffee. No fruits were served, no watermelons even if it’s mid summer season. Coffee was sour, so we only had tea. They served us only two eggs for two of us together, so we had to leave the hotel half hungry in the mornings.

Fragments Hotel is 15 minute walk from Taksim Square (metro, buses to airports) and 10 minutes walk from Tophane Tram station (access to Aya Sophia, Sultan Ahmet mosque, Basilica Cistern, Covered bazzar, Topkapi palace, and Dolmabahce Palace) . So it has good location with easy access to tourist attractions. The hotel is very neat, it has friendly and helpful staff, and roof restaurant has a very nice view to Golden Horn. It has a decent breakfast. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.

The walking path is very steep uphill from Tophane station to hotel, and is not suitable for people with mobility problem. If you have heavy luggage, you may need to take taxi from hotel to Taksim, because of narrow and uphill pavement.

The location is great with many cool ('hipster') cafés and stores nearby and in walking distance from Galata Tower, Istiklal Street and the metro. The room (deluxe with tub, room #501) was huge and the view was amazing! Also the tub was a nice touch, glad I payed extra for that. Great aircondition too that actually worked and was easy to use.

My biggest disappointment is the breakfast. It's very basic and honestly just seems like cheap stuff from the grocery store slapped on a plate. Skip breakfast and go eat at some of the cafés close by, they're much better. Also there were a few problems with the room: noise from the upstairs restaurant (only Saturday night though), aircondition making weird, very loud squeeking noises from time to time and yellow-ish water in the tub (the color depended on how hot the water was, so I suspect the color is from rust in the hot water pipes, but I don't know sine I didn't bother trying to fix it) Not something that ruined my stuff, but it's annoying to deal with.

It’s hard to describe how awesome it is to wake up to such a stunning view. The bathroom in Room 503 has a window, it’s such fun to have a shower with a view :) The staff is friendly and helpful. The room and the bathroom were exceptionally clean.

The pillows weren’t comfortable and the sheet sheets and the towels had some holes in them. I mean, that’s a minor inconvenience and it didn’t affect us much, but it was just weird to see. The breakfast is a joke.

The location of the hotel is great, however the walk to hotel is uphill, so it’s a bit of a workout to reach it from the main street. But there would be no view If it wasn’t on the hill, so .. Ladies working at the breakfast were not the nicest. On the first day they didn’t even tell us that we can order warm omelette, so we only ate cold things in the buffet. Only on the second day they told us about it. They were always talking behind the bar, so when I would go to order a tea - they would look at the like I interrupted their private conversation, which made me feel awkward.

Spacious house big enough for a group of 6 people. Two bathrooms. Although is separate from the hotel, we had breakfast at the hotel rooftop and the view is amazing. Breakfast was also very good. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The hotel is just 5 minutes away for a metro station. Consider that the hotel is on a hill and walking up is relatively steep.

The house was very cold when we arrived, but we solved it with the heating. The WiFi was also not working, but the staff solved it the next day. The bathrooms don’t have windows so it’s a bit puffy in there. The cleaning woman kept forgetting we were 6 people and always forgot to replace one bath towel, but easily solved with the staff at the reception by asking for a towel. In the kitchen there is not enough cutlery for 6 people, but mature if you ask for it, you get it.

We were always warmly welcomed by Bursa in the breakfast area which was a great way to start the day. The chef Fatma was very friendly and after the first day started to perfect our respective egg preferences. When we organized our day, we were ably assisted by Can and Deniz who knew what to recommend and how best to get there. Ali and Gurken also assisted on occasion. The cleaning staff was efficient and we were always made to feel welcome. Breakfast was always fresh and had a great variety and accompanied by great views!

The hotel is perfectly located and we enjoyed every minute. There was nothing we didn't like.

Great views from the spacious and bright room. Comfy big bed. Nice bathroom. Staff tried their best to fulfill our requests. Good breakfast on the terrace with nice selection. Really not much to complain.

Somehow for this price something felt lacking. Maybe it's the fact that the breakfast staff didn't greet us and didn't immediately offer all the things they can prepare. They actually can do coffee, tea, and a nice selection of eggs for free, but we had to ask for it. Also, the room has everything you expect, but in this price category, I'd hope for some small extra touches. As a result, we were satisfied but not amazed.

This hotel is a treasure. The staff is outstanding and knows their job like you wouldn't see in Europe. Friendly and competent. The room was much better than we expected for this money. Amazingly clean, comfy, superb design, perfect shower room. We were upgraded for free to get the sea view, and the view was breathtaking. Substantial breakfast on the roof terrace added to the joy of staying. We will definitely stay again for the next vacation in Istanbul.

If you are wheelchaired or poorly fit, the accessibility would be a challenge. The location is a crossing of narrow and very steep streets – this is what the Taksim neighborhood is like. So, if you don't mind walking uphill on foot for the sake of observing the authentic life of the city, enjoy paying an order of magnitude less than for the hotels placed right below this one at sea level. But if you prefer a more vegetative vacation, look for less altitude. Also, beware of the Google Maps suggestions: it will show you a 400-meter walk from Galata Port – but will direct you to the (famous) stairs: it's 400 meters up! Don't repeat our mistake of making it on foot with the suitcases. Uber, though, comes perfectly right to the porch.
