The Gedikpasa Konagi Hotel, located near Bayazid Square and a tram station, is situated on Gedikpasa Street with many restaurants. The hotel, set in a 200-year-old historical building, offers nice rooms but no elevator, making it challenging for those with knee issues due to the steep stairs. It is also located on a slope, so you need to go up and down the hill every day. They also have a rooftop terrace that provides sea views for sunrise and sunset enjoyment, and can be used throughout the day. The breakfast provided was exceptional, featuring a buffet with a wide selection of both savoury and sweet options. The offerings primarily included traditional Turkish breakfast items, such as eggs, salami, mozzarella and feta cheese, three to four varieties of olives, steamed broccoli, fried peppers (both red and green), an assortment of fresh and pickled salads, and more. For those who prefer a sweeter breakfast, options include yoghurt with granola, biscuits, and cake, or bread with jam and honey. A plentiful selection of fruits was also available daily, including apples, oranges, plums, watermelon, and green melon. While instant coffee was served at breakfast, the tea offered was a high-quality Turkish blend. Complimentary tea bags and instant coffee were available at the reception for use in your room, which was equipped with a kettle, two ceramic cups, and two glass cups. The staff was very accommodating. The room was clean, with daily cleaning, towel changes every two days, and bedding changes every three days. They also have a safe (vault) in the room, which is very useful. The WI-FI is free and quite fast. Additionally, on two rainy days, we were able to borrow umbrellas from the hotel at no extra charge. The check-in and check-out were hassle-free.

Nothing.

I had such a wonderful time staying here! The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly and made me feel so welcome. They helped with a lot of logistical things so I could just focus on enjoying the experience. The location is great--just a 10-15 min walk from the Hagia Sophia and other popular destinations in the area, but the hotel is tucked away enough to be peaceful and quiet. In the hustle and bustle of Istanbul, it helped to have a little oasis away from the chaos when needed--there is a lovely rooftop terrace to relax on. Breakfast has a whole range of delicious options, in a really cool old room from (I think) the Byzantine era. I would definitely stay again!

This isn't a negative per se, just a heads up for anyone with limited mobility--the hotel is located on a pretty steep hill. That said, most of Istanbul is pretty hilly. However, directly up the hill is the metro line--I didn't use it myself, but it's a good option if you have trouble walking or want to go somewhere further away.

Property is in a great location surrounded by good food options and about a five minute walk away from the grand bazaar and metro station. The host were extremely kind and friendly, continually offering advice and suggestions of the local area and assisting any way they can. The hotel street is very well lit and restaurants were open to 1am every night. The terrace has an amazing view of the ocean and local mosque.

Only thing to note is the metro is uphill of the hotel, if you are not able to walk or climb inclines it will effect your stay.

Everything but the best part without a Shadow of a doubt: THE STAFF! They are very friendly always willing to help you and give you any tips about the city. The hotel is lovely too with a lot of character.

To say something ( minor issue) to have a bedside lamp to be able to read while the kid is already sleeping.

The hotel is more like a friendly Bed & Breakfast. Very pleasant and staff always ready to help. I had some unique and unexpected issues and they went out of their way to help me resolve them. Breakfast is freshly made and fruit was exceptional. All you can eat if you want a full stomach to start the day. Rooms include a refrigerator and the hotel's location is only 4 blocks from the Tram which takes you to the OLD CITY and you can continue on public transportation to TAXIM Square and even to the airport. The neighborhood is safe and the commercial stores/restaurants are vibrant and inexpensive. Taxi to airport is reasonably priced and reservations can be made by hotel staff. A police station is only a few blocks away. What more can you ask for at such a moderate price?

There was some construction that was noisy on first floor but not at the upper floors. I assume that the work will soon be completed. The internet went down but not the fault of the hotel as the entire neighborhood was without internet service.

The hotel is located in Faith district next to the Grand Bazaar. it is around 20-30 min walk to main sights Aya Sofia and Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Mosque). Despite that the first impression on location is worrisome (not very clean, very busy and chaotic) - it is a very safe area. the building is historical and has a character. It is a bit shabby though. Every room is done in different style bringing you back to late Ottoman era. It is very clean and neat inside. Personal is very nice, helpful and friendly. They have a great breakfast options and one of the best Turkish coffee.)

We had taken two rooms. Both of them were amazing, but in one of them there was a feeling of a bit illogical placing of the furniture (may be it needs to be thought upon a bit). In another room there was no proper full-height wardrobe (but this is more like a slight inconvenience). Also guests should be prepared to walk uphill to get to the main sights and there is no lift in the hotel,so may be it wouldn’t be the best place for people with disabilities (personally it wasn’t a negative point to us,but it would be nice to know for others).

Very good value for money! Excellent location, close to all major attractions. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good Breakfast. Large rooms, heating and air conditioning working. Very good price(end of November)

Room furniture and shower faucet are not in the best condition, but more than acceptable. I stayed in much worse hotel rooms for bigger prices in Western Europe. Also, you can hear noice from the hallway, but again, met this problem in many, many other hotels.

I selected this hotel as it is in the heart of the old city of Istanbul. We mingled with the people and got to know true Turkish hospitality. I could have chosen a european style more modern hotel but wanted this hotel as soon as I saw the photos especially the underground breakfast area. In my view, this is an an authentic and charming little hotel that makes you feel like you stepped back in time and space. If you love ancient and authentic structures, then this might be the one for you. Situated in a busy street, you get to see the real people of Istanbul in their everyday life. The breakfast area is an antique underground space that I find so unique! I think it is at least 300 years old if not more! As for the breakfast we got to enjoy an amazing selection every morning starting at 8 am. We came from the United States and have been in other hotels but have not seen this kind of selection of the daily breakfast including veggies and sweets. The staff is very helpful and friendly. As for the location of the hotel, being in the centre of the old city so close to all the attractions was worth it. We got the istanbul card and found the transportation to be easy. The staff even booked for us a bosphorus trip that we enjoyed. At the end we extended our stay by a few days. I do recommend this little gem that is charming and authentic. You will go home with sweet memories.

For me, there wasn’t a thing that I did not like. You don’t find helpful and friendly staff like the staff of Gedikpasa Konagi Hotel in other countries. I wish I could come more often!
