Henna Hotel Istanbul is an absolute gem in the heart of the city! The location is simply perfect—just a short walk from iconic attractions like Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and the Blue Mosque. Plus, the Sultanahmet tram station is only a few minutes away, making it incredibly convenient to explore the rest of Istanbul. The hotel is situated on a lively street filled with charming shops, restaurants, and just steps away from a delightful little bazaar, adding to the authentic Istanbul experience. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, but what truly sets Henna Hotel apart is its exceptional staff. From the moment you arrive until the time you leave, they greet you with genuine smiles and go above and beyond to make your stay special. We were especially touched by their thoughtfulness—they surprised my wife with a birthday cake and checked in with us daily to offer helpful tips on activities and transportation. Their hospitality made us feel right at home. If you’re looking for a hotel with an unbeatable location, wonderful service, and a vibrant atmosphere, Henna Hotel Istanbul is the perfect choice!

We spent six nights at Henna Hotel Istanbul as a family with two older teenagers (18 and 20) and had an excellent stay. The location is truly ideal for visiting the main historical sites on foot, including Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace. Our superior room was quiet and comfortable, overlooking a peaceful courtyard with a small fountain. We were warmly welcomed each evening by Sema, who remained consistently professional and kind throughout our stay. The hotel manager, Ali, was both approachable and highly efficient, always ready to offer helpful advice or assistance, whether at breakfast or in the cozy ground floor lounge. The buffet breakfast, served on the rooftop terrace, was varied and generous, with a stunning 360° view over the Bosphorus and the old city. The rest of the staff were equally attentive and discreet. Overall, a very well-run and pleasant hotel that we would happily recommend for families or couples looking for a calm, well-located base in Istanbul.

The breakfast is one of the highlights of the hotel--rich and varied, something for everyone, and it is on their rooftop, which has terrific views. The wind up there can be challenging, but that's Istanbul. The location at Sultanahmet has benefits and drawbacks: on the one hand you are just a short walk to the major sites, on the other hand, walking up and down the street means negotiating with aggressive restaurant and shop-owners. That's the price you pay for being in a touristy area. The hotel staff were lovely and helpful. They definitely help make the Henna Hotel a place worth choosing.

Great location in the heart of the old town with elevator access and modern room with comfortable beds and bathroom. Very clean. The walk in shower was spacious with consistent temperature. We loved the large shared roof deck with a view of the Blue Mosque. We got some lovely nighttime photos of the lit up mosque without the crowds. Excellent and plentiful buffet breakfast from 8-11. We loved the extended hours since we were only in town for a 15 hour layover so we were able to sightsee early in the morning before the crowds and then return for a leisurely breakfast. We were able to see (and take exterior photos) of the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia, plus visit the Spice Bazaar (sizable but not overwhelming and very clean bazaar with beautiful architecture and lovely spice and sweets stalls with far less crowds and less aggressive stall holders than the Grand Bazaar) and thoroughly visit the Basilica Cisterns within 2.5 hours, all by walking. So, the hotel’s central location was key! Helpful hosts arranged a private airport to hotel transfer for 60 Euros. We landed at midnight at the Istanbul International Airport (without any checked luggage) and arrived at the hotel at 2:20 AM (it took a total of 2H20M to get to town from the airport - and we had a VERY smooth process without any crowds, traffic, or delays!). Found the “Greeter” easily with the hotel’s directions. The “Greeter” coordinates private transfers for many hotels and will call your name and walk you to your vehicle when it has arrived. We waited for about 20-30 minutes before our ride arrived and were conducted to our vehicle (which we’d never have found on our own!). The hotel also called a taxi to take us back to the airport for 37Euros. They negotiated the price for us to make sure we got a fair deal, very helpful since we know from past experience in Istanbul when we were ripped off by a taxi driver.

The room was small, there was little space to walk between the furniture and the bathroom. Not a surprise in the old town. Just be careful so to avoid bumping into the furniture. We stayed in the Pera Palace in a prior visit to Istanbul. While that hotel was luxurious and had large rooms and exquisite ambiance, we liked the location of the Henna better and it feels more authentic to us.

I never write reviews but I felt like this was a must. I can’t express how much I’d recommend anyone to stay here if they are visiting Istanbul! The location is perfect, walking distance to major sights like Hagia Sophia, blue mosque, topkapi palace and more. The hotel is located near restaurants and shops and is so safe. The hotel is so clean, rooms are spacious and have everything you need, shower was amazing. Breakfast is perfect with plenty of choice and an unforgettable view. But the real reason why you should stay here is the staff. They go above and beyond to meet your every need. So friendly and kind. They greeted us every time after a long day exploring, gave us many recommendations and helped us with airport transport. I can’t recommend this hotel enough 10/10 best hotel I’ve stayed in.

Everything about this hotel was great, from arriving the front desk was excellent with their customer service, very helpful with where to visit and how to travel there. We had a garden too. which was great, very roomy, nice big bed. Cleaning service to room every day, and to a good standard. The shower was excellent, nice and powerful, the accessories ie, shampoo etc smelt lovey too. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and they gave us a cake which was very nice. The breakfast was delicious, every day it looked so nice and tasted lovely too. Fresh omelettes made upon request if desired. A also a shout out to the younger members of the team, very polite and helpful, you are a credit to the team. The roof terrace was a lovely place to eat in a morning, we salon went up there i. the afternoon to relax and enjoy the views. All staff were very friendly which was great to see and so helpful. Thank you very much, highly recommend this hotel it was GREAT.

There was nothing to not like.

The hotel has a perfect location, the most important sights can be reached on foot in a few minutes, but the metro is not far away either. I often just went back to the Blue Mosque in the evening, when it was very empty and beautifully lit. The choice of restaurants in the immediate vicinity is also great. The hotel itself is also a dream: the breakfast is amazing and the staff are so incredibly friendly and helpful. They really look after you. Everything is more than clean. But the absolute highlight is the roof terrace, where breakfast is served and where you can simply relax during the day and in the evening (this is another great advantage of the location: you can simply go back to the hotel every now and then without much effort). I could never decide whether I preferred to have breakfast with a sea view or a view of the mosques. Conclusion: This small, family-run hotel is a dream. We will be back.

It’s 11/10! Amazing hotel, cozy clean rooms, super tasty breakfast included with a lot of cheese , vegetables and some turkish traditional meals on top of standard european meal. Tasty coffee and possibility to enjoy rainbow coffee)) Amazing 360 view on the city from the roof. Sunsets and sunrises👌Very close to sea, quay, both most popular mosques, a tram with direct transport links to the heart of the city on the same part and piers, Karakoy, Istiklal on another. Especially I’d like to admit very professional, supportive and kind hotel manager and all stuff. From all my soul highly recommend the hotel! Also important : I had single trip and it was absolutely safe for the young lady in that part of the city, in general as in all public places I’ve visited :) Looking forward for my next time to stay in Henna❤️

Out stay at this hotel was a delightful experience, largely due to the exceptionally helpful and friendly staff who consistently go above and beyond. The management is highly professional and pays attention to every detail. Breakfast offers a rich and varied selection, featuring fresh and delicious fruits and vegetables. One of the standout features is the rooftop, with stunning view of the sea and the blue mosque. The room was a bit tight for two people but very clean and comfy. The hotel is located in the charming old town which is perfect for sightseeing and walks. However, be prepared for persistent restaurant invitations from nearly every establishment, which can be a bit overwhelming at times. Despite this, once you navigate through the bustling streets, you can truly relax in this peaceful oasis. A big thank you to the staff for making our stay so enjoyable and above all for the beautiful surprise!

At first, I hesitated to book this hotel since I usually prefer 5-star stays along the Bosphorus—even if they’re a bit far from the old city. But wanting to immerse myself in the culture and history, I chose this hotel in Sultanahmet—and I’m so glad I did. From the moment we arrived, Ali, Ahmet, and Sema made us feel like VIPs. Ali was incredibly attentive, always offering personalized suggestions on the best places to visit and when to go. Ahmet took the initiative to arrange my hammam experience when I didn’t have time to book it myself. Sema was also so helpful, even organizing our airport transfer on short notice. The staff here are genuinely warm, welcoming, and always smiling—it made the stay feel like home. The hotel itself is spotless, well-maintained, and ideally located—just a short walk to all the major tourist spots and great local restaurants. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy Istanbul’s cultural roots with heartfelt hospitality.
