Located a short walk to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace. Great Breakfast buffet. Close to lots of restaurants…our favorite, Palatium Cafe.

Steps & steep hill up to attractions on Sultanmet Square however they have another entrance that elimnates most of this, if you ask about it.

Everything about the Hotel Royan was exceptional, from the courteous staff, plentiful and delicious breakfast to the comfort of the room. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul.

Booked for my parents, as it was my mom's birthday. They sang her happy birthday and gave her a cake, as well as a gift. It was so thoughtful and nice. Breakfast great and great location.

Our room was in a separate building to the main hotel which involved walking up various steps, not an issue for us but might be for anyone with mobility difficulties

AMAZING. Let's start off with that. I stayed her as a solo female traveler during my post surgery recovery and it was wonderful! I truly felt taken care of. I booked for a basic standard room and on the day of, I was surprised that they gave me a complimentary upgraded room (a mini studio) on their 6th floor with a good view instead. The room was really nice and modern, had ample space and super clean! They were so accommodating of my post surgery recovery that they gave me a room that was away from the noise and had a lot of privacy as there was only 1 other room on the floor. Perfect for my stay, I loved every bit of the room! The room also had a complimentary fruit plate waiting for me, what a nice finishing touch! The location of this hotel is conveniently located and only a short 7 min walk to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Arasta Bazaar, and surrounded by a lot of restaurants and shops. It's a slightly busy area so you'll feel safe here if you're a solo traveler. The breakfast buffet has a decent spread and you can have breakfast on their terrace/rooftop with a good view of the sea! Really picturesque! Also, the menu for the food room service is good! Lastly, the staff knew I was going through post surgery recovery and were so incredibly nice, helpful and accommodating to my needs the entire time, some of them even went above and beyond such as providing me with complimentary herbal tea that would help with my swelling, really fast food room service, provided me with complimentary turkish coffee and tea while waiting at the lobby etc. Overall, I had a really great experience staying here! Highly recommend.

Nothing, I liked everything.

This is a super little hotel. The location is perfect for visiting all the most popular tourist attractions. It is located a 5 minute walk down hill from the Blue Mosque etc in a quiet little back street. We had one of the bigger rooms with a Bospherous view and a settee. I'm glad we selected this room. It was worth the extra cost. We found our room to be quiet, no noise issues at all. The room was very smartly furnished, everything was in excellent/new condition. The room was kept spotlessly clean. The bed linen was changed often. The mattress was very comfortable. The staff were charming and very helpful. We ate in the downstairs restaurant once, on other nights we were tired so they brought the food to our room. The hotel is very hard to fault. I would definitely return if holidaying in Istanbul again.

It is very hard to fault this hotel, it is lovely. My only slight reservation is the breakfast buffet. I don't think it is very hygienic for 40 or so guests to serve themselves using the same tongs and spoons, some people clearly had colds, and then expect us to peel and eat fruit, or pick up bread etc with contaminated hands.

Located within walking distance of major historical sites, etc. and with many dining options around that area. As dozens of others rightly noted, Mr. Aziz and his staff are uniformly friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is immense and really a feast; kitchen staff are attentive and regularly refill as needed. Nice view of the Bosphorus too and has some outdoor seating. Enjoyed the hotel's restaurant a couple of times for drinks/snacks and meals such as when we returned late from a day trip to Ephesus. Staff seemed happy, a tribute to great management and training. Would gladly return.

The restaurant ran out of a couple of items but that's to be expected.

This place is underrated; I wish we stayed longer. From the moment we walked in from the wrong side of the hotel the wonderful receptionist (I lost her name card - I think she was Cigdem)gave us a warm welcome. Ferhat then took over, what a welcome. Everyone at the main reception was amazing. Specially the chap that offered tips on what’s not to do and what we should do. The beds were comfortable; room was cleaned everyday: the breakfast view was wonderful. The location of the hotel is the cherry on Top. It’s an easy walk to all the tourist sites and the sea. Fantastic options of restaurants, cafes and spas. The owner Fatih is a true leader that lives by example. He was extremely helpful to us even offered a free luggage. We went to Istanbul for our wedding anniversary. We received a beautiful present coffee cups set. This will be our goto place next time we are in Istanbul. A big thank you to all the amazing staff at the hotel.

Really enjoyed staying in the hotel for a week with my husband and my parents. Very modern and quite new hotel with all you need to enjoy comfortable stay. As opposed to many other hotels in Istanbul, this one is in European style. Breakfast was really nice and they also have restaurant on the ground floor if you are not in the mood to go and explore the local cuisine. Especially worth mentioning the stunning view from breakfast terrace! I would say it was one of my favourite experiences staying in the hotel in Istanbul so far.

I wouldn’t call it a deal breaker, but just a warning that hotel is located at the bottom of the hill and you would need to go up every time you want to go to the centre. It is really short walk (10 minutes), but for my parents it was difficult to do it every day. However, if you want to go somewhere further you can always call a taxi.

Hotel was excellent with the service it provided. Reception staff were very helpful with advice on transport and places to visit. Provided maps and advised on the different mode of transport to available. A special thanks to Fatih and Ferhat who were always willing to help. The breakfast was good with a lot of choices and restaurant staff were very attentive. Hotel was very clean. Would highly recommend staying here. Only drawback is the streets are quite steep in some areas by the hotel. This would be a struggle for someone with mobility issues or a wheelchair user. Lots of places to eat nearby.

The rooms are a little on the small side. Not much room to move around as suitcases took up some of the space.
