Above my expectation.. best hotel in everything ..location , food , staff . The smile is in everywhere .. they give me special caviar dinner it was very delicious.. thank you

Our second stay here and, as before, the quality and comfort of the room was excellent. Although we had a couple of problems, the hotel couldn’t have been more helpful in sorting us out. The location of the hotel is excellent.

We thought we had booked a specific room (the same one we stayed in before) but were put in another room which wasn't as good. However, the hotel managed to move us to our preferred room after a couple of nights. In addition, there were problems with the room's air conditioning (during some particularly hot weather). The hotel supplied us with portable air con units which helped.

I’ve stayed in a lot of 5* hotels and wasn’t expecting this hotel to be amazing as I wasn’t that knowledgable about Sofitel but this hotel actually was one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in Europe, the rooms were amazing, staff were so attentive and helpful. The grounds were lovely, and the mix of the old building with modern fit out was perfect!

I think Breakfast could have done with a buffet, this hotel was order only with a few things to go a choose yourself. The menu was amazing and you had a lot to choose from but the wait time was quite long and what we ordered it wasn’t done how we asked or things were forgotten which was fine, we didn’t complain, just would have been easier going to get the things we wanted or have the option to.

Location, staff, breakfast

This is our fifth stay at Grand Sofitel. We always come to this hotel and have a great time. However, there are a few issues that need immediate attention: 1. Shower glass is getting old and water is invariably leaking out to fill the bathtub. 2. Terrible spa facility with broken jacuzzi, water jets in pool and lack of any attendant. 3. Despite a clear sign that kids can’t come to the pool after 6 pm. The pool is often filled with kids playing and shouting and splashing which is VERY disturbing. Despite alerting the front desk staff, NOTHING was done! 4. OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive for the value you get in return. These things have to be fixed ASAP

Fabulous hotel with charming, friendly and very helpful staff; great restaurant at Bridges and good choice of breakfast options; great location that is both central and yet peaceful. Nice decor and art works. we did not use the spa, but it looked good

Very minor irritants: taps were smooth circles with nothing to grip, so impossible to operate if you have eg soap on your hands; slightly complex lighting system with many options that you can't see if the lights are off, rather defeating the purpose; friendly but slow service at breakfast with poor attention to removing dirty items

Our superior room w/canal view was excellent. Very spacious and good view. Well laid out and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with so many choices and staff was polite. The location was good. I liked that it wasn't in the touristy part of the city. We walked everywhere

There is not one thing we did not like.

The welcome at the check-in was very good. They remembered that I said I like whiskey during the check-in, and next day they left a note in my room said they could arrange a whiskey tasting for me at the bar. It was very thoughtful. Presentation and variety at breakfast was very good. We chose the hot items from the menu and they served them to our table. We took the cold from the open buffet ourselves. We had lunch at the Oriole restaurant. Presentation and taste were very good. Room cleaning was fine, we did not feel uneasy. The location is very central, we walked easly to most places.

Taxis cannot leave you at the entrance of the hotel after a certain time in the evening, because the road is closed. This was unpleasant.

Rooms were immaculately cleaned everyday. Staff were always friendly and ready to help. We loved the pool, jets, sauna, and steam room that were all available to use.

Nothing at all! If I had to complain about something it would be the location is one block from the red light district (not our preferred spot to hang) and next door to a popular coffee house with smokers sitting outside day and night. But I think this could be true of most hotels in popular locations.

This proved to be an excellent choice for a short holiday treat. The large room overlooking the canal was perfect and the bed super comfortable. Some days it was difficult to get out of bed ! The central location was ideal, being within walking distance of many attractions and not too noisy. The staff were always attentive and helpful and couldn’t do enough to assist. The attention to detail in everything was very noticeable. One specially appreciated gesture was arriving back after a celebratory birthday meal to find some chocolate truffles on a plate with ‘Happy Birthday’ written on the plate in icing.

I really appreciated the hotel’s excellent facilities and the breakfast service. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices, and it was great that you could request specific items, which were promptly served. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay.
