I stayed for 6 nights and was very pleased with everything. My room was exceptionally quiet, clean and comfortable with a spacious bathroom/shower. The staff especially checking in were superb. I especially liked the hotel had a policy of not coming into the room if you needed anything you just needed to request it which was perfect for me. Location was excellent being near the beach (less than 5 minutes walk) and local shops and restaurants which were plentiful. For non car drivers there is a regular bus service into Torquay less than 5 minutes from the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel.

The guy at reception was very friendly and helpful on arrival. We were able to check in 40 minutes early which we really appreciated. The size of the hotel was good. There is a small lift up to the floors. Breakfast is available however we didn't order it. The room size was very good. Price for a Saturday night was very good. There was a fan, TV, iron and ironing board in the room. One pillow each for a double bed. Plenty of plug sockets and a usb port in the lamp. 8 minute drive from Torquay centre.

Free parking was on the street but the street was full as the nearby park or other hotels are very popular. There is a car park but it said it was for coaches only. You need to give I.D to check in all party members. The towel rail in the bathroom was heated and on constantly, it was very warm to touch when walking past to get to the toilet. The mirror in the bathroom is a little low. The doors in the corridor outside and other people's hotel room doors shut with a loud bang so we were woken from 7am with people up and about.

The man on the check-in was quite rude. I don't get why I had to give my full driving licence number on a check-in form when my driving licence is a picture one. Also, full payment had already been made through booking.com before our arrival. He basically said if I didn't, he would refuse us to stay there. I have travelled all over the world and uk many times and have never had to give this information. I only gave it under duress. Not happy to give out this personal information. Also He had my address on the booking form. So I really don't get this.

After talking to an amazing guy on reception after midnight even though i checked in earlier when my partner arrived the room was unsatisfactory … and he moved us and he was just amazing his customer care was 100 percent ,he aloud us to see the knew room first and was moved immediately…. Kind helpful and very professional… he asked every time we seen him if we were okay … breakfast and meals amazing and fantastic value the restaurant staff amazing too overall stay was very good .

We were booked in a room which was unsatisfactory… and the wifi was horrendous

The location near the cliffs was wonderful. The price was very competitive and there was everything you need including a bar and nightly entertainment which of course would be a matter of personal preference. The staff were helpful and the rooms were a reasonable size with everything working. I think the rating I saw before I arrived was unfairly low considering the price and the facilities.

This is an example of a decent size hotel past its best. Everything works but some parts could do with refurbishment. The WiFi isn't free, there is no daily cleaning of rooms and the lift was out of order when I arrived though it was repaired after a couple of days. The food seemed slightly expensive compared to the surrounding area but there is a room only rate so you have a choice. It is however a perfectly good base for someone who is exploring the area.

The low price for such a cozy warm welcome hotel in a very good location

The weather

We visit Trecarn quite frequently and enjoyed our stay every time. Staff are exceptional, breakfast is plentiful. Room basic but clean. We were in room 3, plenty of hot water, clean towels. If tea, coffee, milk etc is needed for the room plenty supplied if you go to reception. Live entertainment on every night.

Hotel is looking tired, needs a good overhaul. It is a shame to let this hotel go to rack and ruin.Vome on Britania hotels, please do something. It is a lovely hotel.

We had a really lovely stay, hotel a little dated but everything was great , especially the evening's entertainment, location was great too & we was lucky we had a week of glorious weather , we will definitely be back next year

Not much really , apart from they didnt replenish the tea & coffee & loo roll or towels , you had to collect from the reception & also the entertainment finished at 10 , we would have enjoyed it a bit more if it was on till 11 & maybe a late bar , also WiFi was rubbish but we enjoyed it nevertheless
