Location is perfect closest car park walking distance Abbey Grounds Car Park (it is expensive tho). Nice and spacious room but a tiny bathroom. Good shower. Room was very clean and comfortable. Quiet room. Easy check out (drop off keys box).

No breakfast available although you have many choices near by. For what you pay for one night they could at least leave you natural coffee and some biscuits in the room. When checking in, you have to walk through the pub and everybody stares at you I found that super uncomfortable. Also they wanted us to pay for our booking again when we had already paid in advance. Everybody makes mistakes but please make sure that you know in advance whether your guests have paid or not.

Very tidy, centrally located, with a lovely cute pub downstairs. We parked at the Sheep Street short term car park which was only a couple of minutes away by foot. There was also a long term car park nearby. We stayed in a family room, it was spacious and very comfortable, with personal little touches. The bed was comfy and there were block out curtains. The rooms were very clean, including the carpet. During the night it was quiet, but before 11 pm there were of course pub noises from downstairs.

The communication could have been a little better, we didn't get a reply to our message on Booking. Also they didn't tell us we could check out by dropping the key to a box in the morning, we found this out when we went to ask. There wasn't a hairdryer in the room which was unusual. The wifi was a bit spotty. The kitchen was supposed to be open until 9 pm but to our disappointment we found out it was closed already before 8.30 pm.

A great pub close to all amenities. Comfortable room. Wonderful staff. great bar and restaurant.

The tiniest bathroom I have ever experienced! Could just about get 2 hands in the washbasin and no space for any toiletries in the shower The bar was lovely and traditional with excellent food. But we were slightly put off by a large dog on a bar stool slobbering across the bar. It was nauseating. Don't mind dogs in bars .. but really? slobbering across the bar was unacceptable. Hey.. the owner was obviously a local dog-owner. who made a big deal about getting the dog up onto the bar stool..but it took her 10 minutes to persuade the poor animal. Even the dog wasn't too keen on it! Not sure how it fits in with health and safety.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great position in centre of town with parking within a few minutes walk. Easy access to the room at all times of day & night. The room has just been refurbished to a very high standard and the bed was very comfortable. The pub was lively, which suited us, but we didn't notice any noise in the room, either from the pub or surrounding area. Great cafes within 30 seconds walk, so no breakfast not an issue.

With being very recently refurbished a few minor snags (eg kettle missing) but these were all sorted quickly. Check when food will be available if you want to eat in the pub on the evening.

The room was beautiful, with high ceilings, a kettle with many different types of tea, a TV (that had streaming capabilities), and lots of natural light coming through the windows. The bed was also quite comfortable, and the shower pressure was lovely. It's also secluded from the restaurant downstairs, so it's very quiet and cozy. Value for money was very high.

Only a very slight qualm, but the bathroom was very small/cramped. That is to say, turning on the shower meant a rapid entry into the shower itself, as some of the water could've escaped into the toilet area! The sink is also very small, so filling up the kettle was a little awkward.

We had booked another place, but they suddenly cancelled on us so the Golden Cross was a last minute choice. We were suprised to find we liked it! Location very central Spotless Helpful, attentive staff Modern , large rooms in an cool old building

No parking.....we needed to park a little ways away and pay for parking. .....but it was fine. It's above a pub, but it wasn't noisy.

The location was perfect for me with decent parking just around the corner. The rooms are recently refurbished and the showers hot and powerful; bed was super comfy. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Sam sells the place brilliantly. Rachel and the restaurant team work very hard and produce lovely food - Tapas and Chicken Supreme stand out. The ale is lovely (my hangover said too lovely!)

They are so popular I cant get the rooms I want for the same time next year!

The location was good for the town. The bed was comfy and the facilities in the room were enough to enjoy the weekend.

The toilet seat wasn't fixed securely so had a wobble. One of the windows knocked with the wind blowing. Everything was good. The ceiling on the stairs was a tad low and banged my head a couple times coming from the landing down the stairs until I got used to ducking as I came down them

The bed is comfortable. Bath room and hot shower is excellent. Just prepare to carry your luggage up the narrow stairs, I think all the apartment should be the same. We are prepared and cabin size is just good .Wifi is a bit slow at the top level, maybe due to wifi extender. We had dinner at the resturant and some beer, and it is very good .

Nothing to "Don't like"

I loved the overall vibe of this place. It was great to see the bartender check us in. The room was perfect for our family of 4. The only downfall was the unit did not have air conditioning but most places in England do not have AC. We would definitely stay here again. The town was so charming.
