The Stump was an absolutely gorgeous place to stay! We were there for 3 nights and the staff were lovely and willing to help, especially Natalie (?). The bed was extremely comfortable and the best pillows we've had at a hotel! The room was impeccablely clean and they've modernised the bathroom whilst keeping its charm. Breakfast was delicious and they serviced our room daily. We loved being outside of town but recommend people to have a car as taxi's are very expensive! We will be staying here again!

The only area for improvement is that there was no small bar fridge. We accidentally bought milk for cups of tea/coffee as the little ones some places provide aren't enough, but we ended up having to discard it. Luckily they provided a good amount of long life milk daily!

So I shall start this by saying look at my other reviews as this one will look like it was written by someone connected with The Stump but it was not. So the questions is what did you like - EVERYTHING - honestly, this should be the example to EVERY hotel out there. The staff were all totally friendly but professional, The room was nothing short of amazing - it was not too big or too small but had a GREAT on-suit bathroom with a full size bath tub, water pressure like there was a fire truck outside pumping in water like their life depended on it - it was so nice - the hot water was super hot - The little extras were fabulous too, not just what you got but the quality of them - and having a nice Nespresso in the morning in my room - lush. Lets talk about the breakfast. Probably and I am not kidding the best breakfast I have had in a hotel in the UK - I am a bacon snob thanks to buying my own bacon from a farmer/butcher and it being amazing - The Stump's bacon was a very close second - the whole breakfast was exceptional - but a special mention has to be made of the mushrooms - As an Ex Chef, Mushrooms can be so easily spoiled and these were breathtaking. Quite simply the very best experience I have had on the road staying in hotels around - was it the most posh, NO, was it the most plush NO was it the most expenseive NO, but penny for penny, pound for pound, you wont find better anywhere in the UK - I travel a lot for work all over the UK - I have stayed in well over 150 different places and overall - this place is as close to prefect as I ever found. Amazing.

The only thing I didnt like is I had to leave - but have fixed that by booking in again - If you find something you dont like at this hotel, then your either super super super picky, A Footballers wife or Billionaire - other than that, there is nothing not to like.

The team were friendly and welcoming, along with giving fab service. A nice room with comfortable bed and desk. The bathroom was a good size with bath and overhead shower, plenty of towels, shampoo, body wash, hand wash and moisturizer. Good sized carpark and restaurant on site. The restaurant served good food and was a nice environment.

The restaurant was lovely and nice food. It would be nice to have vegetarian options at breakfast and annotation on the menu. The team were happy to accommodate at breakfast though which was great. It was a little hard to find someone for check in at the restaurant as they were back of house.

Excellent breakfast and the reasonable price for our stay. Two comfortable beds and good bedlinen. Very thick curtains and good funishings. Lots of parking and pleasant staff.

The entrance to the property is jam packed with diners and drinkers. Hotel check in is impossible to find because it is at the bar - which was packed. No signs. Ditto getting anyone to show us to our table for dinner. Just a little chaotic. Our room would have been great but the rooms over-looking the courtyard with walk-ways for guests are not private. Everyone coud see in. Therefore its necessary to have the blinds down which is a shame. We found someone else's razor by the bath. "House toast" at breakfast looked to be cheap white sliced bread.

We came as a family to attend a wedding. The location was convenient. Plenty of parking and we only had breakfast, This was well prepared, perhaps a little slow at times but then there were lots of us, tasty. We loved the ambience, the fire and seating. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time and wished we had more time to use the hotel facilities. Shower pressure was good and the bathrooms clean.

I would like to see Electric car chargers made available. There was very little to dislike really Had a marvellous stay.

Nice and cosy country pub. Limited menu, but the food was cooked to a very high standard. Staff were very friendly and responsive to customers. We ate our dinner seated outside, and they were able to accommodate us earlier than our original booking. Outdoor seating with heated lamps. Dog friendly pub. Rooms were immaculately clean, and the beds were so comfortable. Thank you 😊

There was nothing we didn't like. If I had to provide a reason, I would say the menu was a bit limited, which means that people may eat elsewhere because they wanted a burger, for instance. Breakfast menu could have more continental options for children especially (I'm Czech so I would say this :) I will state, however, that the food was very nice and compliments to the chef and all of the staff. I would definitely come again/ recommend it to family and friends.

Hosts couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We were treated incredibly well by all the staff. The room was comfortable with a good shower and thoughtful amenities. The food concept is fabulous and brilliantly cooked. Simple and delicious stone baked pizzas, pasta dishes and imaginative Italian starters. The wine list is very impressive, with incredibly well sourced and original wines, at very reasonable prices. We were blown away. And breakfast was great! There was nothing not to like and we are very particular. Can't wait to visit again.

Large, clean first floor hotel room with bathtub directly in main Queen room. Excellent food/menu/pub restaurant. Pizza/pasta specialties. Book your table early as it gets very busy (We went on a Tue evening & it was fully booked up). Take out available. Beautiful pub/restaurant interior and exterior patio area. Large open fireplace near dining tables. Dogs permitted in hotel rooms/restaurant. Attentive staff who fixed a room plumbing issue while we attended dinner. Very impressed.

Bathtub in the main room opposite the bed. Off main A road so some road noise but then easy to get on your way!

The hotel is so stunning and in such a serene area. And the restaurant is even more amazing. Please if you plan to stay over at this property make sure to eat a meal at their bar/restaurant. The wood baked pizzas are just insanely good and so is all the other food there and especially the ambiance… we were so impressed by everything. The room was comfortable and had everything that we needed from a very comfy bed to a quiet atmosphere. The breakfast was simply incredible. My husband had a full English breakfast and I like to eat an omelette but even though that wasn’t on the menu they especially made it for me and it was just beyond tasty. Thank you so much to all the staff at The Stump. This has been such a lovely stay.

Lovely room with roll top bath in room and very nice large modern shower room. Excellent comfy bed with quality bedding. Great nights sleep. Went into the pub for an early drink when we arrived, excellent service from Kieran behind bar. Staff happy for us to pinch a reserved table in front of open fire while we had our drinks. So many places are uptight about this but not The Stump. Interior was a lot less commercial than I expected which was great, very rustic but smart. Dinner was lovely with great pizzas, sides and service from a lovely girl. Breakfast had great quality, plentiful ingredients on full English and really nicely cooked, though we did comment that it would have been nice to have some toast while we waited or possibly a continental table to serve yourself. No fruit, cereal or pastries offered, though there was a house granola on menu amongst cooked items. This was the only slight negative but didn’t detract from our stay.

Enjoyed our stay with no complaints.
