Large 1st floor bedroom with even larger bathroom with shower/bath. Bathroom floor heated. The bedroom was configured with a double bed and a single bed. As there were only the two of us, we were able to place our two travel suitcases up on the single bed - beats balancing theme on chairs of having one or both on the floor. Peter and Debbie were very attentive hosts. Sumptuous breakfast. Free off-street parking. Wi-Fi good. The major attraction was the Clovelly village which was a two minute level drive away. We could have easily walked, but chose not to as the village itself was on a very steep slope and we were pacing ourselves for that. We did the trek on two consecutive days and definitely had made the correct decision.

We only stayed one night but were very impressed with The Old Smithy, Debbie and Pete gave us a warm welcome and the accommodation was immaculate. Breakfast was fantastic too with great quality local ingredients including homemade raspberry jam and eggs from their own hens. Clovelly is in walking distance, it's an incredibly steep hill but worth the effort. There is a land-rover service available if you get down to the harbour and don't fancy walking all the way back, but it only goes as far as the visitor car park which is roughly halway to the accommodation.

We have no complaints, this is one of the best B&Bs we've stayed in.

Wonderful location. Just around the corner from the Clovelly Village. If you walk, be prepared to walk back up a very steep hill!! The bus stop is near the bed and breakfast, 5 minutes walk. Staff were really friendly, breakfast fab. Room had everything, hair dryer, mini fridge with milk, kettle etc. There is no eating amenities nearby, so you will need to eat before arrival and / or stock up if you don't have a car. The Red Lion at the bottom of Clovelly village - their kitchen doesn't open until 6 pm. Visitors centre does sandwiches.

The room was very clean and had all the usual facilities. The breakfast was really good and the people really friendly. Had a message prior to stating about issues with one of the hotels in Clovelly to ensure I could prepare for dinner.

The walk from the visitor centre. But that was mainly down to me and my walking that day. I was knackered but walked up to the B&B from the village.

We loved the layout. It was great having a separate sitting room. We didn't expect this even though we'd viewed photos!! The area was lovely and the B&B gorgeous. Fantastic cooked breakfast and Debbie and Peter were lovely. Debbie even gave me some of her homemade jam!

The location was perfect with easy parking. Debbie was lovely and made us feel very welcome. The room was spacious, very clean and the breakfasts were superb. Would definitely recommend.

The room had lots of little extras to make our stay comfortable, but maybe a couple of coat hooks would have been useful to hang our coats.

Breakfast was delicious and our room was extremely comfortable. Also, there was an outdoor seating area at the front of the property which was ideal to sit and have coffee after a gruelling walk on the SW Coast Path.

Having walked from Westward Ho (11 miles strenuous walk) on the SW Coast Path, to then walk another 0.5 miles up a steep, uneven path/road was hard work. Also, we found out on the last day that we could have asked for a packed lunch to be prepared for us. It would have been helpful to know this before our stay, particularly, as it would have been good judging on the breakfast quality.

Loved the location, the b&b is nicely maintained and very comfortable bed and lovely seating area with tv for relaxing. Good bathroom and shower. Fridge in room which is really handy Parking on site which is a bonus Breakfast was amazing and hosts lovely and so helpful with advice for surrounding area and restaurants. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. If going into clovelly which is a must staying here - do not under estimate what a killer the hill is on the way home :) after a meal and a few wines in the new inn the hill was very hard work. We walk a lot so didn’t really believe the reviews ….

Would have given full marks across the board except the property was quite a way from the tourist part of Clovelly. As we were walking the SW Coast Path it meant a long uphill slog to get there from the famous cobbled High Street… not ideal after a long day’s walking! Then (after a nice shower) having to walk back down to the High Street to eat and then once again make the half hour uphill trudge home again. Having said that, there’s nothing the owners can do to change the geography and their B&B is good value for money compared to anything closer! I would advise any other walkers to do more research than just checking Google Maps (like I did) as this won’t show the considerable height difference between touristy Lower Clovelly and the more residential Upper Clovelly.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely property and felt very welcome. The room, for three people, was ideal for our visit to Clovelly village. Our hosts were able to give us lots of information on Clovelly and the coastal path walks. The breakfast was amazing.
