Booked 11 rooms for bridal party and family. Check in was quick. Breakfast buffet was hot, tasty and good variety. Good sized rooms and recently renovated. Nice old decor and carpets. Magnificent staircase for photos in my wedding dress. Staff gave use of the boardroom for getting the bridesmaids hair and makeup. Lunch was good portions and interesting food, not too expensive. Staff arranged late cleaning of the rooms
Customer service was good, but nota always above and beyond. For example staff were reluctant to book taxis for guests and would not bring morning hot drinks to the bridal room and kitchen staff wanted to charge groomsman for taking them.

The Suite we had was very comfortable with a large bedroom, bathroom and separate lounge with sofa and chairs - and all very quiet, which was good. They very kindly upgraded our first night so we could stay in the same room for 3 nights, which was very generous of them. The hotel is in a lovely setting surrounded by their extensive golf course and we enjoyed a nice walk around the course to Old Coulsdon, 20 minutes walk away. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and the waitress Celendine was very helpful and jolly each morning. Dinner was very good and served by friendly staff with a smile! Buses ran at the end of the long hotel drive to everywhere we wanted to go, so it is also very convenient to stay without a car. A pleasant stay.
The male receptionist wasn’t particularly welcoming on our arrival, with no offer to help with our luggage. I had to ask if there was a lift as there were a lot of stairs to climb, so luckily there was one, but then we couldn’t find our room as our numbering was small and high up, so the man eventually helped us find the room, which we were pleased with except that the bedroom door needed re-painting - surprising for a Suite door not to be in a good painted condition for the price paid. Otherwise, all was good.

All staff e.g Reception, Catering, Housekeeping were approachable, friendly and able to assist when needed. The room was spacious with enough storage and little seating area next to the window was nice. Very quick to reply to queries pre stay , when booking or any questions answered when messaged.
The décor was a little dated but overall lovely venue. On the lift doors inside and out there were grubby finger prints, dirty marks etc which although we saw a cleaner polishing doors / glass etc the lift never seemed to be cleaned. The rest of the venue seemed highly cleaned and presentable.

I stayed on in my room longer than I originally intended, and the staff were all helpful and accommodating. Paula on Reception was very kind- she gave advice and information about the history of the building and how the hotel is a great venue for events, and she even offered to take some photos of me on the staircase. The cleaning ladies were also all lovely and helpful - I spoke to Nicola, Zoey, and Oxana- and there was another lady I didn't catch the name of- but they were all lovely. I was in a more basic room rather than one of the executive options, but that was fine for me- I really just needed the bath, as it helps with my hayfever, and the desk, for my paperwork. The bed was was heavenly- with a clean comfy duvet. Thank You.

We had a welcoming greeting from Reception, who answered all questions and double checked our booking. The breakfast was good and was replenished regularly and the staff did not rush you and instead went the extra mile. The late night bar tender was excellent and so happy. The rooms and indeed the hotel was "oldy worldly" because it is a very old listed building which does and will need a lot of upkeep. Do not expect a modern hotel, it is not. It has a different beauty with fantastic staff. No doubt they will be in the process of updating things slowly but hopefully they will keep the charm of the original place and had the history of of for people who are interested. All in all it was very good value, set in a lovely environment. We would stay there again.
Nothing.

This is a useful location for visiting friends in Coulsdon. The area is quiet and the staff is friendly. The room is fine as we are there to see friends so are out all day. As a base for our needs, it is fine. Even two functions during the stay did not make for noise as we were far enough away. We like the parking facility and mobility needs were accommodated but pitting us in a room by the lift. Thank you. The breakfast was nice and buffet style at the weekend.
A safe would be a nice addition but for the cost of the stay, this would not be expected.

I needed a room with a bath, as I suffer badly from hayfever, and having a steam bath is one thing that helps. Reception told me all double rooms have baths, so that's good from my perspective. More modern hotels tend to just have showers, but this hotel has both- all the double rooms have a combination bath/ shower. There's also a desk, which is good for my paperwork. I'm not bothered about "modern conveniences" like having a TV- there's one in the room but I don't watch it. The location is lovely. Martin, on Reception, was helpful - much appreciated, Thank You.

we asked for two double rooms with single occupancy, one of which to have walk in shower & preferably near lift. got exactly what we asked for. One room was "accessible" with wet room Both fairly near lift. Clean and comfortable but no air conditioning. Rooms did however have opening windows and table top fans. We didn't eat in the evening but breakfast was excellent with good selection of fruit, juices, toast, pastries, cereals & hot food.
not a lot. carpets were worn but hotel is on a golf course with players walking through.

Help yourself buffet available and non dairy milk fur breakfast Lift to the room . Room was clean and tidy Didn't get to explore grounds properly but what we saw was lovely. Good parking facilities
We had to wait for more cooked food to come out fur breakfast so choice was very limited when we were there. There was a smell coming from the carpet. I guess it's just old but may need a deep clean There was no fridge in the room and TV was kind of small compared to others but not that much of an issue as we didn't watch it anyway

A very pleasant surprise! Booked because we were going to a show in Croydon but wanted somewhere more out of the way for the weekend. Beautiful grounds and we were very lucky with the weather so could walk around the golf course and sit outside at the end of October. Room was lovely and nice view over the grounds. Dinner on Saturday evening was very good and good value - duck in particular was amazing. Our waitress was very friendly. Bar/restaurant area very relaxed.
Paid for breakfast on Monday morning. Cooked breakfast was nice but there was no buffet on for some reason so we didn’t have a choice. Coffee in pots was cold by the end of service. Language of some of the golfers on the terrace! I know it’s not within the hotel’s control but I don’t really want to hear loads of swearing when we’re trying to relax.
