Absolutely lovely stay at the Sydney arms, we stayed for 3 nights was greeted by the manager Danielle on arrival lovely lady ever so friendly she showed me to our room and gave a nice speech about what we could expect and how the facilities worked. Nice and comfortable room very clean. We additionally only booked for a two night stay but wanted to stay an extra night explained this to Danielle and she sorted it out and booked us in straight away we had to move rooms on the 3rd night as first room was booked on the third day we thought we would of had to wait to check into new room but she managed to have a second room straight away witch was freshly decorated looked lovely, we checked in on Saturday and she said they can offer us a roast dinner on the Sunday with 10% discount as we were staying with them but unfortunately the chef was sick on Sunday and as a sorry for the inconvenience Danielle arranged for us to go to their sister hotel a short while away to have a carvery on the house. Perfect stay overall and manager couldn't do more to help us were booking again for bank holiday weekend looking forward to going back ☺️

I stayed in the Plaza room, a single bed with small ensuite. While it's starting to show its age, this was extremely clean with a very comfy bed, great water pressure to the shower, and only a minutes walk to the Dorset Record office , the reason for my stay in Dorchester. I stayed 3 nights from Wednesday and while Friday night's pub noise was audible it wasn't very loud and I still slept well. Friendly staff and one kindly carried my suitcase upstairs for me. Nice atmosphere in the pub. I'd return here if I needed to use the record office again.

Manager was really friendly, very relaxed. Great value for money. The bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. Generally very clean, check out at 11 is great too.

Not really an issue, but as the hotel is attached to a pub and I stayed on a Friday night it was very noisy until midnight, however I knew this would be the case when booking - the price of the room was the cheapest in the area, you want gold standard then pay the prices! The manager was also very clear about the noise too and after the pub closed it was silent so a good nights sleep was still had.

Spacious, very light and super clean ensuite room. Really helpful and kind pub manager was really interested in whether I found the place ok or not. Only thing I had not taken into account was the noise levels on the Friday/Saturday nights as an old building with no sound proofing. However, it did not spoil my stay.

Noise from pub below on the Friday and Saturday nights. Didn't occur to me before I booked. Meant that I went to bed a lot later than I really wanted although I slept really well. Another time I'd take ear plugs

Friendly and attentive manager, old building but room clean and with all usual facilities. Bank holiday weekend so very good value as most other places, big chains in particular, wanted double the amount. Manager warned it was karaoke night but not too bad anyway and all quiet after midnight. Did not eat there so can't comment on food but was offered the option for evening meal in pub or even in room. Not too far from Dorchester West station so good location. Dorchester South station a bit further on.

Nothing.

The location was excellent in relation to the town and all amenities and the pub itself had great grub on the evening and a nice atmosphere. The rooms were clean and aired out and the staff were wonderfully welcoming.

There was no car parking at all except for a pay and display down the road, I couldn't find anything to state this before going so it would be nice to mention it when booking. The rooms were very basic in some respects which I think let it down slightly but it was still brilliant value for money.

Enthusiastic welcome from manageress and nice, very clean, bright room which was excellent value for money as Dorchester in the summer can be very expensive, Good quality towels and bedlinen and loads of tea/coffee/milk supplies.

Communal area such as stairs and corridors could do with a little TLC to match the nice quality of the bedroom.

Nice clean rooms, great hosts being very helpful. We had the room above the main bar on a weekend so could hear the music and fun below from the room but that was expected. We had parking very close by on the main road which was easy. In all very good and would return for sure with no hesitation. Thanks

Kettle could do with descaling and a water supply for teas and coffee as couldn’t fill the kettle up from using the sink very easy.maybe supply with jag of water . 😃

The staff were really great. They were friendly and very accommodating.

Stairs. My wife is disabled, but to be fair, where are you going to get pub accommodation without stairs, so we can't really complain.

The Sydney Arms is located within short walking distance from train stations and town centre, however it is right next to Dorset Hospital which is reason we stayed there over the Christmas period. The owners and Staff were excellent could not do enough for us. Room was a good size with all the amenities expected.

As room above a pub it can be a little noisy when punters are leaving, however it did not last long and would not stop us from staying there again.
