The property was wonderful; only twenty minutes by bus to the Old Town, and with such friendly and helpful staff. My room was very clean and comfortable. I had a very lovely stay and can’t wait to return!

My only nitpick was the WIFI wasn’t the strongest; this did not have any impact on the quality of my stay, however.

Good location, easily accessible from the city bypass. Good connecting bus service with the stop going into the city centre just across the road at the bottom of the steps and the stop coming from the city right at the steps. As usual the food at breakfast was good and plentiful.

The hotel is starting to show its age and there is a fair bit of tlc required to bring it up to the standard you could generally expect for the price you are paying. In our room the TV was positioned high up which made it somewhat uncomfortable to watch. There was also no information in the room about local attractions nor about any of the facilities in the hotel which is certainly a first for me .

Leanne on Reception was extremely helpful, upgraded our room, got us a table in the bar for Dinner as Dining Room was fully booked. Nell & other staff attended to our requests & looked after us extremely well. We are so pleased to have found this comfortable friendly hotel. Breakfast was plentiful on a self serve basis. ## I wanted to explore SKIP DIVING but my partner FORBID me. As a keen recycler, I could have recycled those items & given them a new purpose!

No Welcome book in bedroom, wanted to read the info, facilities & wi-fi password if needed. Sad to leave as we enjoyed it so much unfortunately we had another appointment!

The property itself is a lovely old Victorian Hotel in a great location within Edinburgh. It is getting a bit tired in places but the restaurant and bar areas are nice, foods good and the breakfasts are lovely. The staff are polite, friendly and efficient.

Despite the leaking roof on our first night we did enjoy our stay at the hotel. I have today got my refund for the night we were inconvenienced so many thanks for that. I do think that perhaps as a hotel you revisit how any refunds are made as it took far longer than it should have.

I liked the staff especially the cleaners who were always cheerful. My bathroom was brilliant and the bedroom was good. My key card didn't work in the door one night but the staff sorted it out and gave me two key cards just incase one failed again. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room and biscuits. The room was serviced every day. I love the location and because the hotel is on a hill you get great views. Really love the building.

There is no lift and if you are on the third floor there are a lot of stairs. Personally I don't mind even though I am an older person, I like the exercise.

We think the hotel stuff makes this hotel so much better than it is, very polite, helpful. Only because of them the hotel getting 8 points!!!!! The location is very good, big private parking arrond the area!! We really liked the hotel building itself, the castle is gorgeous, but very tired. The food was quite tasty, service very good and the atmosphere too.A small note would be even better if soft music was playing. The price for the night was reasonable. We will definitely come back and pay more if the owner updates and refreshes the inside castle. Thank you.

There were no terrace umbrellas, so we could sit outside with some drink and enjoy the view, as it was raining a little bit. The hotel definitely needs an update, I'm not talking about big reformation, to start with simple things as.... Headboards ASAP!!! Cover up cracks in the walls. Glue the wallpaper that is falling off. Carpet deep cleaning Smart TV The cleaning definitely must be better

If you are looking for a good accommodation away from the buzz of the city and have limited budget this is the place to go to although location is 30mins away from the central part of Edinburgh where most of the attractions are however location of the hotel is still very accessible, there are buses which passes by near the doorstep of the hotel, while there is also a 5 minutes walk options that you can take for a better multiple buses options. Indeed I would recommend this place looking for a comfortable place to stay. Unfortunately, there is no lift, thus, if you are a female solo traveler with heavy baggage can be a challenging. Also, receptionists are very accommodating and helpful and in fact upon request they have allowed to extend for an hour the check out time at a Free of Cost , depending on availability check out can be extended for an hour further at a cost.

No lift..

I definitely recommend staying at Braid Hills Hotel! (Note for reference: I am able bodied so I didn’t need special access but I saw a ramp at the main entrance). Here is a list of things that I really liked: - it has really nice flair/charm, cool traditional atmosphere; - excellent service, really friendly and helpful (!) personnel (I had a luggage problem and the hotel was super nice and helped me out with the circumstances); - nice beds - medium soft/hard; - nice pillows - could be even ortho or smth since they were “heavier” but held a particular form while still adjusting to your head (so not just round fluffy pillow); - nice and warm room (although some of the heaters were stand alone); - enough room to lay out suitcases, a wardrobe, an ironing board, etc.; - the bathroom has non-slip tiles which is a nice touch - you won’t fall down while getting out of the shower; - very clean accommodation - didn’t see dust or whatever. Sheets very freshly washed and crispy; - overall it was a cozy room; - there are a few different bus stops, one of which is directly next to the hotel (you have to go up the stairs tho) which is great!; - kinda expensive compared to continental Europe but compared to other accommodations in Edinburgh it’s a very good price-quality ratio;

- you have to use the stairs to get to your room (which is fine) so if you have a heavy suitcase it’s gonna be a bit of a challenge; - the floor in the bathroom is of course cold (since it’s tile, which is logical and makes sense for bathroom), slippers would be nice but one-time use things aren’t good for the planet so it’s actually also a plus :) - kinda expensive compared to continental Europe but compared to other accommodations in Edinburgh it’s a very good price-quality ratio;

The old part of the building looks stunning, very gothic and Scottish! The location was good and not too far out of the centre of Edinburgh. Handy car park. The IPA in the bar was lovely. Room was well equipped and our view was amazing overlooking the castle and Arthur's Seat.

No lifts was a bit of a problem as many rooms are quite a walk from reception and two or three floors up. At the time of our stay the regular room radiators were not working so we had portable electric oil rads. Okay for the smaller rooms but one of ours was large and didn't really get that cosy. ☹️

Very clean room, halls and lobby. The staff were pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was very good, there were some beautiful views of the surrounding area from the hilltop on which the hotel is built. Plenty of shops and restaurants etc within walking distance as well as a bus stop conveniently situated across the road which leads into the city centre frequently throughout the day. Some parts of the fixtures and carpets etc could do with replacing but I heard a member of staff say that the hotel will receive a refurbishment in the coming year. I chose the hotel as I was travelling by car and wanted somewhere secure to park, which they had, and entering and leaving the city didn't prove difficult at all when I left for Loch Lomond at the end of my stay. I can definitely recommend.
