The Red Cow is a great location to stay when visiting Richmond, UK. It was a very quick walk from the train station and very easy to get into the city centre. It is 4 guest rooms above a pub so it's quite noisy when the pub is busy, but we didn't mind that. Our room had 2 single beds (which we required) and was very small but it worked for us. The beds were not very comfortable but doable for a couple of nights. The shower water pressure was great, but no wash cloths if you are used to having those provided. Everything in the room was complimentary - ceral, milk, yogurt, water, instant coffee. The pub has a Thai / Cambodian restaurant in it. We only ate there one night and the food was quite good. My travel companion got sick while there and they were so nice and made her a bowl of chicken broth and even brought it to the room for her. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful.

Not that is was a real dislike, but beware - Tuesday morning at 6am is beer delivery day. OH MY Goodness I bet they delivered 30 kegs of beer - rolling them down the cobblestone street and putting them down in the cellar. That is a crazy noise to hear at 6am. The only other small thing was outlets. We had our adapters but there were not enough accessible outlets. We had to unplug the TV to use the hair dryer. I guess that's just UK travel.

I had a truly wonderful stay at The Red Cow Hotel in Richmond upon Thames. The staff were absolutely amazing—extremely friendly, accommodating, and genuinely helpful. One standout moment was when we needed to extend our stay. Initially, we were told we'd need to switch rooms, but the staff went above and beyond to arrange for us to stay in the same room. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made our stay so much easier and more comfortable. The bar staff were another highlight—so friendly, chatty, and welcoming. They even invited us to come down for a drink, which we sadly couldn’t take advantage of due to health reasons. However, it’s something we’ll definitely return for in the future! A special shoutout to the cleaner, who was an absolute gem. She was not only excellent at her job but also a pleasure to chat with—so understanding and easy to communicate with. It felt like she genuinely cared about making our stay enjoyable. Overall, every member of the team made our experience exceptional. We can’t wait to come back again—next time, we’ll make sure to visit the bar too! Highly recommend this place for its amazing staff and great atmosphere.

Staff was amazing, friendly and personable. The building itself was beautiful and historic. Everything was full of character and very fitting for the surrounding area. The breakfast was helpful and filling, as well as the tea facilities. The food downstairs was delicious and smelled tasty all evening. It never got too rowdy or loud downstairs. Even when people on the street were yelling it was more entertaining than anything. The surrounding area is charming and walkable and the nearby restaurants are also delicious and well priced. The inn was also conveniently located near the train station, which helps when its raining!

The transition between the bed and bath has a tiny screw that's not screwed in as deep as the others. If you look close enough you'll see a little bit of my tights on there

Room was clean and comfortable, although a bit tight, but expected. Staff were friendly and was an easy process to check in. Bus service runs right by the Inn and easy to get around. The bathroom was clean and everything worked well. Outlets to charge phones were a bit lacking, but again, not surprising in an older building. We would stay here again. Please note that music in the pub below plays until 11:00 on Saturday Nights, so plan around that.

Really don't have any complaints.

Lovely clean spacious room and comfy big bed. I liked the fact that all the breakfast stuff was in the room to help myself. Had a sneaky bowl of cereal before I went to bed. Great central location and helpful staff who let me leave my case there before check in time. Easy check out as you just leave your keys in the room.

There isn’t really parking there. At weekends you can park locally but not during the week easily. The shower was okay, but water pressure isn’t that strong. Anyone not used to the sound of planes will find it a bit noisy, particularly on a Sunday, it that applies to the whole of Richmond not just here.

The pub itself had great food, Thai and Cambodian. The atmosphere was great with live sports and live bands on Saturday and Sunday night. The location was great for access to the town and Richmond park. The bedroom (room 2) was a little tired but fine. There was a huge comfortable bed, TV, table for kettle and coffee, test and biscuits. In the cupboard there was a mini fridge with plenty milk for drinks and complimentary breakfast items as the bar isn't open for breakfast.

The room was a little tired. A lick of paint on the skirting boards was needed and the main light was missing but there were bedside lamps. The shower rail was loose and there was a wonky tap but nothing you couldn't work around.

Only a five minute walk to the train station, a supermarket five minutes away as well. Good size room, with the added bonus of breakfast included via cereals, milk, and a small fridge, jug and hot drinks. Downstairs was a bar - Tuesday night was quiz night ! We had a problem with the shower and they fixed it quickly with no issues-very responsive.

The bonus of having the bar downstairs meant that there was a bit of noise, but just bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

Excellent staff. Check in a quick and easy. Staff were very kind and helped me with my bags. They recommended the food at the pub (which is delicious- excellent recommendation). All my staff interactions were exceptional. Room was nice and clean. It is small, but that was fine as a solo traveller. I appreciate the heating being turned on prior to my arrival. I felt safe and secure.

Bathroom was a little dated and a bit of black mould in the shower. Other that that is was an excellent place to stay

Quaint place central to Richmond. Really wonderful staff and pub on the first floor. Room had everything we needed. Plenty of space for the three of us. Comfy bed. Good breakfast options.

Not an issue for us, but there in no elevator. Just an FYI. Also, there is usually a band in the pub below on Saturday night. It sounded like they were in our room with us. However, at the stroke of 11, on the dot, they stopped playing. Just something to consider if you need to get to bed early to make your flight the next morning.

They immediately changed our room when we found a problem. The second room was clean and comfortable. There are several amenities and restaurants nearby.

The first room was incredibly pokey and the plumbing did not function properly. They did change us and upgraded when we raised the concern. You need to be careful if you are booking a twin: not sure about the other rooms but this was very tiny and dark.
