The whole inn is just spectacular. The fact that you can stay in an inn that’s running since the 17. century is beyond everything. The location is amazing, there’s a church in front of the inn which was built in 1190. I stayed in the Tudor Parlour room with my partner, it was clean and lovely, the beams through the walls are just beautiful. There was a tray with tea bags and coffee and sweet treats which is always a nice touch in a room. The sheets and the towels were extra soft. Not to mention the bathtub in the bathroom, it was really nice! The dining area with the beams and old tables was also just beyond beautiful with the lights and the whole atmosphere. We had breakfast with many options to choose from with different kind of teas and coffee. We also had a dinner in the inn which again was delicious. The manager and the staff, hence the locals were kind and sweet and I can’t wait to come back in the future!

Nicely restored, centuries old building, but with all the expected idiosyncrasies….sloping floors, low doorways and ceilings, narrow stairs, no lift. The restaurant was excellent, food delicious, varied menu. Breakfast options were good. The location in the village of Chiddingfold was perfect for us.

The property closes Sunday evening into Monday. Consequently, breakfast is not available on Monday morning. This is not disclosed until long after booking and just before arrival, despite the fact that the Booking.com confirmation states clearly that breakfast is included for a Sunday night stay into Monday. A disappointment and an inconvenience.

The hotel is full of character and I enjoyed finding out about the history of the hotel in the village from the information provided in the room. The bedroom was comfy and clean, with all the essentials. Breakfast was nice, and relaxed as there were only a few guests that night.

I ate in the restaurant and was about to leave a tip when paying until I noticed that they had already added 12.5% to the entire bill, including drinks that I had earlier from the bar. I was disappointed that I was not asked of this..

Lovely historic building, good food for breakfast & dinner. In a lovely spot & perfect for our needs. Friendly staff.

Room floor was on a slope which felt a little strange. Very old furniture etc but to be expected in this type of building. Bed, bathroom etc all clean but the room was extremely dusty, cobwebs above the bed & skirting boards etc needed a better clean, even the kettle was dusty! Having said this, we would stay there again. We saw in some of the other rooms which looked better than the one we had.

It's a beautiful old building and it's clearly cherished as such but refreshingly so. Down to earth and friendly. Excellent food. I wasn't drinking so couldn't comment on the beer but it looked local and delicious! Beautiful village green and duckpond (complete with goldfish, water lillies and weeping willow), charming little cafe and obviously situated in beautiful countryside.

Homely beautiful old inn. Lots of history. Friendly helpful staff. Very clean room and bathroom. Beautiful fresh bedding. Excellent breakfast with fresh ingredients.

There was no chairs to sit and relax in our room. Step into bathroom was a trip hazard despite notice above eye level as floor surfaces same and no marking on floor

We loved the fact that the hotel is so old, dating back to the 15th century or even earlier in some parts. It has real character. The bar area by the inglenook fireplace was perfect for relaxing with a drink after a long drive. The quality of the food in the evening and at breakfast was superb: very well served and beautifully presented.

We booked one of the relatively less expensive, more modern, rooms which lacked the kind of character that was typical of the four poster type rooms as shown on the website. The lighting in our room was rather dull and during the night there was a persistent low drumming noise that disturbed our sleep. Apart from these issues the facilities were comfortable and well appointed.

Breakfast was delicious, service excellent. Evening meal was also very high quality. Facilities 1st class and the building was beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

There were far too many automatic confirmation emails. I even received one on Sat 17th confirming my stay when I had stayed on the 15th and checked out on the 16th.

Lovely historic building in near idyllic location and a real sense of that age not compromised by good modern facilities.

Nothing, very hot room, but it was extremely hot weather. There was a fan which helped a lot and buildings of that age don't have air conditioning and we'd not expect them to. No compliments at all.

The cosiest most homely place to stay with bags and bags of character! I felt like a child again, tucked up in my room listening to soft bustle from downstairs. Utterly charming and just what you need when you're working away from home.

Everything was perfect.
