Breakfast is very good. Excellent sheets and towel and a super-comfy bed. Pauline and staff were welcoming as ever and very attentive. This is a lovely pub and the rooms are small but very comfortable.

It's not a criticism of the property but a request for a return to the wonderful fresh milk in jugs in the fridge on the landing / pantry we enjoyed on previous visits. So nice to have proper milk with the very excellent tea and coffee provided. Now it's the UHT in a plastic sachet. I appreciate that most places now rely on these but it was a lovely homely touch, so if the pub owners are reading please do go back to this.

What a simply fabulous stay! The welcome by Matt, the service by Pauline in the morning over breakfast, the dinner - all was first class. The overall atmosphere of the place was wonderful. I only gave a slightly lower rating for the bed because the room was sloping (added to the great charm and authentic age of the room) and thus the bed also sloped and I thought I might fall out during the night. But the bed was otherwise very comfy and the obviously newly renovated bathroom was sensational with an excellent rain shower. The dinner was superb as was the first class breakfast. This was the last night after a 4 week tour of the UK and with a short drive to Heathrow in the morning, it was perfect. Hat's off to the staff for this one. Thank you Matt and Pauline.

Breakfast was great especially the Garden Breakfast. The whole building was aesthetically pleasing. It had a lot of character and being by the river was superb. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the staff were brilliant. I liked the layout of the room and the bathroom was a good size.

I didn't feel l had much privacy because my room was facing the car park and was above the restaurant. I had to pull the curtains to change during the day. The bathroom could benefit with having disposable sanitary bags.

I loved the location which made it easy to get to the places I wanted to visit: Waverley Abbey Trust and Watts Artist Village (Compton). The food was great, they do have big portions and the breakfast really gets you ready for the day. It's so wonderful to eat real 'eggy eggs'! Sounds strange but they are delicious. The room for a single traveller was quaint, and I liked the eco friendly botanical products in the room.

Bed was a bit too soft for me but that's just a personal preference, also there was a humming machinery noise which seemed to be constant, wasn't too loud and annoying to stop me from sleeping. Just a mild irritation to an otherwise perfect stay.

The rooms and bathroom were clean, comfortable. A bit small but adequate for our needs. Tea coffee and a coffee machine were nice additions. Breakfast was good quality, maybe the portions for some people were small but ok for us.

Car parking is a bit franatic, obviously a popular spot for locals so the seven bedroom guest could miss out on a parking slot.not sure about the requirement as to tell them wha you want for breakfast but at least you can be assured of getting what you want.

Nice place ,lovely setting ,good staff They couldn't do enough for us They have a wide range of beers and spirits which are great The bloody marys went down well

The room was very hot ,even with the radiator off and a window open all night We were positioned above the kitchen i believe so i understand The food was nice ...but being critical there wasn't very much beef in my bourginon and our tab at the end of the evening was a bit of a surprise ...but I understand these are the rates The breakfast however was wonderful 😋

Really accessible location from the A3 by car. Beautiful spot right next to the river. Tastefully decorated pub with big outside seating area that is stunning. Evening meal was delicious - every course was tasty. It was a relaxed atmosphere with very friendly and welcoming staff. Room was beautifully decorated and equipped - if a little small. We are too big for a double bed! None the less, we slept really well and had a great time. Breakfast was so tasty with lovely ingredients. Cooked breakfast may have felt a little small but after a big meal the night before it didn't matter. I thought it was great value for money and a beautiful bolt hole for a night away.

We loved everything about our stay. If I were to pick up on anything it would be that the cooked breakfast was a little small. There was only 1 slice of bacon, 1 sausage and a very small cup of beans (in addition to tomato, mushroom, fried bread, egg, black pud!). But we were stuffed from the night before so it didn't matter! And it was delicious. This is a great place to stay for an overnight/weekend getaway.

It is a great pleasure to stay in the stag. The stuff are so kind and friendly. The bed is very clean and comfy. I love the pillows here (normally I would bring my own pillow).. The room is nice and quiet. Shower is warm and water pressure is very good. Exquisite decoration everywhere. Plenty of parking space. Oh yeah the meals are excellent. I have to keep on asking for the recipie as they tasted so good. We arrived quite late and the stuff waited for us till 11. Every one in the stag is really lovely. They gave us a very good impression of Guildford and I would say we probably would love to move down to Surrey now 😀 I would recommend it to every one

Booking.com bargain! Excellent value room, especially after Genius discount plus mobile discount. Tastefully decorated to a high standard with multiple facilities available within the room - has everything you need and nothing you don't, lovely hot shower too. Initially on arriving in the evening, thought you might be able to hear noise from the pub downstairs, but no noise, really well sound-proofed or maybe room is further away from the pub area, then at night when it is very quiet, you can hear the wonderful gentle rushing of the running River Wey! Lovely breakfast too! Highly recommend staying here!

A few too many generic emails

Everything has been thought out well, here. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The decor is nice. The bathroom is clean and everything works properly. Good quality bath robes are provided. The heating was easy to control (we had a winter stay). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was nice. Breakfast is generous. This is a place that extends genuine hospitality and it seems this is getting more and more difficult to find in UK.

The windows are single glazed so in the morning the window was running with condensation. Having said that the windows were cleaned each day when the room was refreshed.
