The trip was good, hotel was lush, really nice touch with dog friendly greeting gift. Staff were really attentive and friendly with one exception our evening meal server. Evening waitor asked if all was OK with our meals, to which I replied all was ok but that the bacon chop was very salty. He just replied he would feed that back to the kitchen, total couldnt careless attitude. Didnt ask if it was edible or if I wanted to order something else or replace the chop. I had to leave more than half of it as it was too salty to eat. We both ordered white chocolate Arctic roll, very disappointed it was prebought Arctic roll not freshly made, with just coulis and few raspberries and blackcurrants, very over priced at £8.50 a portion. However the breakfast was exceptional and value for money, even sausage for the dog and staff were lovely and friendly. Shame about the bacon chop and male waiter as the hotel was lovely as were all the other staff

Amazing value for money. Our room was spectacular. We had a large bedroom with separate lounge area, large bathroom with roll top bath and shower with Breakfast for £130. The room was clean and nicely furnished with the usual suspects complimentary. Water, biscuits, tea and coffee etc. The pub and restaurant offered a better than average pub menu, more gastro pub i would say and was very reasonably priced with a good selection of wines and spirits. Staff were very friendly. We actually stayed here as we were attending a brewery tour at Hogsback Brewery, and it was the perfect location as only a few minutes drive up the road. Got a taxi meaning we could both enjoy the beer without worrying about getting back. Breakfast was the best of the meals. Locally sourced produce, excellent quality and plenty of choice. Would definitely recommend to families and couples and would definitely return!

Everything about our stay was lovely. The friendly staff, the rooms were cozy and impecably clean, breakfast was excellent as were the evening pub meals we had. The accomodation is in a separate annex to the side of the pub so noise is not an issue. If we come back to this área we will definitely stay at the Princess Royal.

There was nothing to criticise only a suggestion that perhaps a wider selection of teas/infusions available in the room (coffee selection was 5*) and a note to remind guests that milk was available from the bar (and it is proper milk not the usual UHT in environmentally unfriendly plastic pots!).

The room was excellent - large, well equipped and very clean. There is free parking directly outside. Dinner in the pub was very good too.

Breakfast wasn't so good - avocoado on toast was too mushy and the sourdough bread was not bakery bread but tasted like it came out of a packet. Also I requested an Americano coffee and was told no I could only have "jug coffee" (filter?). However later in the breakfast room I spotted other guests getting capucinos so I queried this and was told that there was an extra cost for coffee from the expresso machine. I should have been told this as I would have gladly paid. Lukewarm jug coffee spoiled my breakfast experience. My breakfast server was glum and unhelpful but she was the exception and all the other staff I met were excellent.

The facilities are simple and cozy, allowed for our dog and even left her treats, bowls and a food mat. Coffee, tea, and sugar, spoons in room with coffee pod maker and kettle. Fridge, with water and milk. Adjustable temperature remote, plenty of outlets and lighting. Nice bath products (shampoo, cond, lotion, soap). Friendly staff in Inn and Pub. Good response to one issue we had.

One cleaning issue in bathroom (underside of toilet seat and rim unclean when we arrived) but it was dealt with immediately. Overflowing can in dog exercise area. Visible rodent traps outside.

Although there are no facilities such as gym, the rooms are exceptionally clean and comfortable, with easily adjustable and effective aircon/ heating. The in-room facilities are very good, plenty of quality coffee, tea, a fridge, fresh milk and a free beer! The beds and bedding are very comfortable indeed, up there with the best I've experienced in hotels and the rooms have good sound-proofing, so I always get a good night's sleep. Bathrooms spotless (as with the rest of the room) always lots of hot water and plenty of soap, shampoo etc. The pub provides lovely food and great beers, the breakfast is outstanding. All staff I have encountered are friendly, helpful and personable and parking is right outside the rooms, offset and screened from the road.

I used to work here back in the day before the hotel was added so knew location and nearby facilities etc. The room was ok ground floor was a Sunday night, had to order take away as was late for restaurant. Staff could not of been more helpful with plates, knives / forks etc - easy check out (box on table) - dog room with water bowls and treats !

OK...so booked via booking.com added one dog with me, zero mention of additional cost - even screen printed the booking to show all costs included. I called hotel to double check I had booked a pet room and no issues etc, again no extra costs were mentioned. I checked in on the day with dog left in car to the point I had my room access card in hand and was just walking away when I mentioned was the room still dog friendly - the person then jumped in saying he did not realise I had a dog and required an additional £10....now I had just driven 6hrs to get here and could not be bothered to challenge but at no point through the whole booking process was it mentioned about an additional £10 per dog fee - this is something the process needs to review...and its only a tenner - humm but ya know !

Excellent first impression. The grounds and pub are well looked after, well maintained. Friendly, welcoming staff. Ease of checking in. A welcome board outside of our accommodation, which was a lovely touch! Everything was clean, tidy and smelt lovely. Great location of car park just outside of our accommodation. Everything was made super easy and this was much appreciated. Food in the restaurant was delicious and staff were friendly and attentive. Wish we had a place like this nearer to us!

The staff - in particular Alejandra, Roger and Emma were extremely helpful, polite and professional. Thank you. The room was better than photos suggested and the generously large accessible wet room was very well equipped for my husband with limited mobility needs. The beds were extremely comfortable. The complimentary products provided were of good quality and generous. My burger was the best I have ever tasted. The breakfast buffet provided a good selection of continental offerings and the full English was good.

Nothing.

We had a very spacious comfortable room and the coffee and tea making facilities were very good. There was even a small bottle of milk in the fridge which was a nice touch. We stayed over the New Year period and although the pub was busy there were plenty of staff who were friendly and helpful. We didn‘t eat in the restaurant but the breakfasts were very good. I was a bit worried about there being no lift to the 1st floor after recently having knee surgery, but the stairs were low rise and and not steep and easily manageable.
