Nice comfy bed and good room layout with plenty space. It was a family room for 2 of us so maybe that’s why. Old hotel with creaky floors and doors but surprisingly quiet internally, however the noise from the pub patrons downstairs was something else. Didn’t stay for breakfast as we were up and away early next morning. Staff nice and friendly. Very good value.

The noise from the pub was unbelievable, shouting arguing hollering for hours on end. How anyone lives there on a Friday/Saturday is anyone’s guess.

It is a classic building with the feel of a castle. We had a room with a shared bathroom, which made us a little skeptical, but it was always very clean. In the same building there is a pub where we spent our evenings, very fun and pleasant.

The mattress in our room was a bit old and made noises when you turned over, which was tiring for light sleepers like me.

Perfect location in centre of town. Easy to find, close to a variety of eating options and selection of shops. Room very large, simply decorated but perfect for our short stay. Check in very easy: Woman who checked us in extremely helpful and informative of local area. Breakfast was substantial and made fresh to order which gave it a personal relaxed feel. Check out just as easy if not easier than Check in. Will definitely choose this hotel again if available when visiting area.

No aircon in room, but wasn't expecting Scottish weather to be in the 30,s. But wonderful Nikki (think that was her name) sourced 2 fans to keep the room cool. So a small dislike but easily made into a superb positive by the helpfulness of the staff

The Staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived after a long hot day cycling and were greeted with a token for a free drink at the bar. The cool bear was most appreciated. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Ear plugs were provided and very useful for when the seagulls started the dawn chorus (this sound is to be fully expected in places close to the coast). The hotel stay is very good value for those with an eye on their budget. I had a shared bathroom but was unaware that anybody else had used it. The bathroom was clean, modern and well decorated. The shower was lovely.The Carlton is is my go to place to stay in Forres. My thanks to all the staff.

Our welcome was lovely , staff very pleasant, we all received a pick a mix bag of sweeties , which went down well and my husband and I received a complimentary drinks token to redeem at the bar, which we redeemed in bar and consumed in our room.( As we had our children with us) The room was large and comfortable,beds were comfortable also. We enjoyed our breakfast again The staff were very pleasant.

The shower was temperamental and I just couldn't get the temperature right ( I tried three times , whilst helping children in shower also it just kept running very hot or freezing cold ) Slight drain smell in bathroom . But even with these things we still would visit again and it did not ruin our visit

We were upgraded to a family room 4 floors up with a good view of the town. Fairly attractive, spacious room for the two of us. The staff were lovely and we were given a complimentary drink in the bar each, which was a nice touch. Full 'Scottish' breakfast was spot on with tasty 'tattie cakes'. Good wifi and decent fully smart TV. Very good value for money.

Soundproofing isn't superb with noisy seagulls around for a while early morning, but really not that much of a problem and there were packs of earplugs supplied by each bed should any noise really be a problem. Bathroom was a bit shabby, but quite adequate.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.i had a quiet twin room with lovely views. The bed was comfy as was the wing-back arm chair in my room. The continental breakfast was more than adequate.

The staff were so friendly, the bar had a good atmosphere and drinks are very reasonably priced, a free drink per person for each day is such a nice touch, breakfast is included and there is excellent choices, there was a Sunday roast which was so nice and great value for money, chocolates with the towels for the second night, overall amazing value for money and genuinely couldn't fault anything. The hotel exceeded my expectations and will definitely stay again.

It didn't bother me but the shower water wasnt going hot for a while the first day but it was quickly sorted.

Staff where lovely and very attentive with the added bonus of each resident being given a complimentary drinks voucher and bags of sweets on check in. Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was amazing with lots of choice and the hotel is situated well within the highstreet.

Lots of stairs with no lifts or wheelchair access. Although I am a fit and healthy enough female I was giving a thought to other folk in a less fortunate position. In saying that it wouldn't put me off as I would definitely stay there again.

Loved the old hotel. Really interesting history. Felt like walking back in time. My room was clean and comfortable. The staff AMAZING. They really made my stay extra brilliant.

I wasn't so keen on the food. Sorry. But it wouldn't stop me from coming back. I'd just stick to cereal and toast. Rather than the cooked foods. And it doesn't make me want to give a lower score. I still rate it ten. Coz i'm not bothered by not having cooked breakfasts as in it didn't spoil my visit at all.
