Lovely friendly staff from the reception desk to the breakfast room. Room 111 clean and looked recently decorated. Great linen, towels and clean carpet and mattress cover. Great view of the Minster. Breakfast first class poached eggs to order were perfect. Thank you for the £3 off each voucher. Lovely dining room bright clean and light. Very close to local shops, bars and to our families wedding venue. Fan in room it was hot so we used this for the whole 48 hours.

First impressions of hotel from the front it looked very tired needs sprucing up a bit. There was also lots of building work going on nearby which some rooms looked out on. Car park ground was uneven bit difficult with a wheelchair. Litter dropped here and there. The curtains although thick, didn't stay together so let in light . I did solve this though by drawing them and tucking them behind the windows safety bar. More plug sockets needed bed side would of been useful for phone charging . The ones at the desk were placed too low so it was difficult to fit some plugs into them.

Restaurant food was excellent (sausage and mash, haddock and chips). Location was good for getting around. Free parking and wifi. I asked the restaurant staff to help with a special request and they couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely view of Grimsby minster, even had the bells serenade us on Wed night.

It would be nice to have a slightly later checkout without having to pay £10, but at least they were upfront about it. While the location is convenient, it is central Grimsby. and some people nearby could be a bit intimidating for a lone traveller. Beds were rather firm.

The room was very neat, only that we saw a blood stain on the bathroom shower which was not from me or my partner. The breakfast was great, with enough coffee, tea, and sugar, but the milk was not. The hotel is in an excellent location - not far from both the bus and train stations, and also has shops around it where someone could quickly go and buy what they need. So, I like the room, the location, the environment, and the staff services. I will be at St James again.

I don't think there is anything that I don't like about the hotel and its services. The only thing I can say I don't like is the limited channels of the television in my room.

Situated directly opposite Grimsby Minster, a lively and welcoming church, the St James Hotel is blessed with a lovely view, but has the lively shopping precinct just round the corner. The rooms are comfortable and the bed very comfortable. All the staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the breakfasts, which were a bargain when coupled with the hotel discount voucher, and the 'restaurant' meals during the day were tasty and reasonably priced.

For the price, I could have no complaints at all.

The property itself is lovely. We had a room that overlooked the church and it was incredible to wake up to such an amazing view. The rooms are spotless but very dated. However I don’t go to hotels to stay in the room and it was completely adequate for a place to sleep. I’ve stayed here numerous times and will continue to do so. Fab little place. Fab price. Fab location. What’s not to like. 👍

Rooms were just a bit dated. Nothing major. Had everything you needed. Comfy bed . Don’t even want to give a negative because we really enjoyed our stay

The room was clean and tidy nice furnishing But was very noisy during the night from noises of people outside swearing and shouting Also the bathroom wasn’t the best as it had a shower over the bath which being disabled I couldn’t use apart from that the staff were very helpful and polite Breakfast was excellent The location was good close to the station and a really nice view of the Grimsby minster The price I paid was not the price advertised I saw the hotel on line for £179 for 3 nights When I arrived I was told it was £260 for 3 nights I don’t know why but I paid anyway

The noisy room with windows that where very difficult to open

Lovely hotel, staff so friendly and helpful and relaxed atmosphere. Facilities very good and everything you could need for a nice stay and good drinks tray including decaff coffee and biscuits and room very clean. Breakfast was good value for money at 7.95 with the voucher given on checkjng in. Good location for access to town and buses with good free parking facilities. Nice meal in restaurant. Hotel excellent value for money and overall a lovely stay overnight whilst visiting relatives.

Not a complaint about hotel but such a shame about down and outs gathering outside of hotel on cathedral green and could see they were a problem for the staff and were being a nuisance by coming into hotel to complain about silly things.. Felt sorry for the hotel having to deal with them but saying that felt safe when going for cigarette as smoking area at the back in private car park. Maybe a suggestion would be to block off entrance to cathedral green and have the one entrance in the car park where maybe it would be more difficult for them to gain entry? But maybe that has been tried I don't know. Only issue was room was very warm and couldn't open windows but slept comfortably with fan supplied with room so not a drastic issue.

I liked the building itself and found it was close to all the amenities I needed, the staff were exceptionally lovely and were always willing to go above and beyond to help with anything needed throughout my entire stay at anytime both day and night , the rooms were comfortable and clean and all amenities were covered including parking, lift and easy access for my disabled mother.

There was nothing that I disliked about the property I was highly satisfied with everything and would recommend St James hotel to anybody visiting Grimsby.

we like the st james it close to town and to family that lives in grimsby the staff are helpful and will help with any problems you may have

the st james is a super hotel BUT it needs a bit of love and attention things like dirty marked carpets some of the paintwork is flaking off AND WHY OH WHY do you put the flimsy usless bin liners that you use they are rubbish you have plug sockets on the wakk above the units so low the wire on the plug wont bend enough to put the plug in and the carpet in the dinning room is disscusting with stains and dirty marks all over do an undercover boss and see your self

Staff were professional, helpful and friendly, using good old-fashioned customer service skills. Location was great, 5 mins from the railway station and close to shops/pubs etc... It's an old-style hotel with fittings that reflect this but all perfectly serviceable and outstanding value for money.

Room was hot, understandable as south facing but this was only mid-March. Probably wouldn't suit the Instagram brigade.
