Staff interactions at The Black Hat were great - checking in was handled very efficiently despite having to arrive well into a busy Saturday evening and service at breakfast service was warm, friendly and very accommodating. Room had everything you'd want and location couldn't be bettered in the centre of a lovely Ilkley, a really charming town with plenty of great pubs, restaurants, shops, walks etc. Just wish we'd had more time there and we'd stay again.

Small points and not a big concern but the response to some specific questions pre arrival via Booking.com (re late check in, info on secure parking at that time etc) could have been better and put minds at rest - we just got a generic general info email that would go to all guests. These matters were all resolved well on arrival though. Black out curtains / blinds would have been a bonus with a very bright spring sunrise.

Book it for a one night stop. But we were informed on arrival By Will, that the weather was about to change servilely over night and plans had been put in place ( Continental breakfast in the room And if we need to have an extra night stay it was at a discount rate.) The following morning the snow had fallen heavily. But the staff went above and beyond in Their duty by travelling many miles through the snow to ensure that the overnight guests were catered for. We thought about the second night But commitments meant that we had to make an attempt to get back home. My car was buried in snow and with the help from Tony Manager, and Jonnane ( The house keeper ) helped me get my car on to a level part of the road. We stopped and helped out with the other guests card to ensure that nobody was stranded.. The staff were very professional in the way they acted. Even Archie played his part in the evening by serving us with food and drinks. We will certainly be returning. Thanks Guys for making my wife's birthday and day Special.🤗

Nothing to dislike.

Good choice for breakfast. I asked for an omelette which wasn’t on the menu and was served with the best omelette I have ever had; light, fluffy and delicious. The room was large, comfortable and immaculately clean, as was the bathroom. Slept very well in the comfortable bed. Surprised to find a nespresso machine in the room with pods. The staff were so friendly and engaging. Will definitely stay again. Highly recommend.

It’s a lively popular sports pub but it does close at 10 pm on a Sunday and 11 pm rest of the week, so not a problem.

Everything was brilliant. We had a lovely clean big room with a very nice bathroom. Wi-Fi was good, tv, tea making facilities, including biscuits, coffee machine, iron, ironing board and hairdryer. We were worried about it being noisy but it was quiet and very comfortable. Bar facilities were also good with very reasonably priced drinks with real ale on offer. Breakfast was cooked to order and the host was happy to accommodate specific requests. You won’t be disappointed if you stay here.

The whole feel of the pub and the rooms was really welcoming and homely. We were in a newly refurbished room, which was of a high standard. The location was perfect as we were right in the centre of Ilkley, just a 5 minute walk from the train station if needed. We ate from the pub menu, I had steak which was cooked exactly as I requested and it was delicious. My hubby had a vegetarian burger which again said was really tasty. The breakfast was just lovely, with the choice of full English, Continental, or both.

The Black Hat is an ideal location in the centre of Ilkley. Our room was smallish but very well planned and extremely clean. All mod cons in place including an essential fan ( it was hot weather). Particular mention of the smart bathroom. The decent tea and coffee making facilities ( and x6 little milk pots!) was particularly appreciated. Much better than many we have experienced. Very friendly staff and an excellent full Yorkshire breakfast in the morning. We were going to a party so didn't sample the pub's offerings but the selection looked very good and the menu is extensive.

The only downside ( which they can't do anything about) is the car parking. On the plus side the large central town car park is right next door but is expensive ( and 8am to 10pm every day) and Ilkley is not great for free street parking these days.

The Black Hat is a great historic pub in the centre of Ilkley. It’s in a central location right next to the car park and within easy walk of all of the shops, bars and restaurants. It’s also very close to the riverside parks, which offers some lovely walks around the river Wharfe. My room (named after Yorkshire cricketer Fred Trueman) was very comfortable, clean and modern. It had everything I needed. The veggie breakfast was great and the managers and staff were friendly. My room overlooked one of the main roads through town, which could be a little noisy if you have the window open in the early hours of the morning. There’s a separate internal sliding window that cuts down the noise to a minimum, though, so it wasn’t a problem. I really enjoyed my stay and would come back again.

I absolutely enjoyed my stay here at The Black Hat. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and the room was as expected. It was clean, modern, and comfortable. My favorite was the full English breakfast in the mornings. Grabbing a pint in the evening on the patio out back was also a highlight. Would recommend to anyone traveling through Yorkshire!

The pub closed a little early, but the same goes for essentially every place in Ilkley.

Breakfast was great, we had the veggie full English and there was plenty of it! The location was handy for our needs, parking was easy (public car park behind the pub) although of course we had to pay for it. The team were super friendly and helpful. We were in a huge rush when we checked in and they were really accommodating to our needs. Thank you!

There was nothing we didn't like - it might be useful to note that the room faces onto a busy road but with the double glazing it was fine; the room was accessed up a flight of fairly steep stairs but it was no problem for us.

Lovely place to stay in the heart of Ilkley. The room was large and spotlessly clean. The access to the town and wider with the train service was perfect for us. It was a really nice atmosphere and the staff were welcoming and sorted anything we needed. The breakfast was great. Will be recommending this place to friends and definitely returning ourselves!

It does get a bit noisy from the pub and the road but the pub was really quick to quieten down after closing.
