We were originally going to stay at The Crescent hotel with other family members for a wedding but as that was full, we booked the Black Hat. So glad we did as feel that it knocks the Crescent into a cocked Black Hat! Lovely helpful staff throughout. We arrived early to go to the wedding ceremony knowing the room would not be ready. We were shown the room for later, as would be getting back after the pub closed and the manager said he would put our case in the room for when we got back. Nice easy entrance through the back door to get to our room and found that to be spacious, comfortable and very nicely designed. After a lovely and filling included breakfast we left feeling that the Black Hat was another great part of the wedding day and night

We received a very friendly welcome, and although we arrived a little before the appointed time, mine host contacted his staff to ask that our room be readied as soon as possible. We were shown to our room, the suitcase carried there for us, and everything was explained for us, including the operation of the free-standing air conditioning unit. The room was newly decorated, the bed very comfortable, the en-suite shower room excellent: both it and the bedroom were spotlessly clean. Breakfast was very good, the cooked offering hot and well-prepared, and included in the room price. We also dined at The Black Hat, and can recommend the lamb shank! We will certainly stay here on future visits to Ilkley.

Sorry, I've racked my brain, but I cannot find anything about which to complain!

Staff interactions at The Black Hat were great - checking in was handled very efficiently despite having to arrive well into a busy Saturday evening and service at breakfast service was warm, friendly and very accommodating. Room had everything you'd want and location couldn't be bettered in the centre of a lovely Ilkley, a really charming town with plenty of great pubs, restaurants, shops, walks etc. Just wish we'd had more time there and we'd stay again.

Small points and not a big concern but the response to some specific questions pre arrival via Booking.com (re late check in, info on secure parking at that time etc) could have been better and put minds at rest - we just got a generic general info email that would go to all guests. These matters were all resolved well on arrival though. Black out curtains / blinds would have been a bonus with a very bright spring sunrise.

Everything was excellent. They catered so well for our dog with a clean bowl, toy, treats and a blanket in our room for him. The room was spotless. We had a very comfortable nights stay. Breakfast was fantastic. There was a choice of yoghurts, cereals, croissants etc and a hot menu. We left there feeling it would be a pleasure to return. Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly.

The only downside was the parking as there is no car park, but a staff member came out and showed us where we could park so all good. Like I said a very helpful team.

Location was great. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Room was lovely and clean with a really good fan which was definitely a bonus. Tea, biscuits and coffee pods provided. We would definitely stay again.

Cold tap in bathroom ran lukewarm not cold throughout our stay. Light on table/dresser in bedroom didn't work. Didn't really bother us too much as only staying one night. Parking is a bit of a problem as few spaces. However street parking just outside of the car park is free from 6pm until 8am.

Book it for a one night stop. But we were informed on arrival By Will, that the weather was about to change servilely over night and plans had been put in place ( Continental breakfast in the room And if we need to have an extra night stay it was at a discount rate.) The following morning the snow had fallen heavily. But the staff went above and beyond in Their duty by travelling many miles through the snow to ensure that the overnight guests were catered for. We thought about the second night But commitments meant that we had to make an attempt to get back home. My car was buried in snow and with the help from Tony Manager, and Jonnane ( The house keeper ) helped me get my car on to a level part of the road. We stopped and helped out with the other guests card to ensure that nobody was stranded.. The staff were very professional in the way they acted. Even Archie played his part in the evening by serving us with food and drinks. We will certainly be returning. Thanks Guys for making my wife's birthday and day Special.🤗

Nothing to dislike.

Good choice for breakfast. I asked for an omelette which wasn’t on the menu and was served with the best omelette I have ever had; light, fluffy and delicious. The room was large, comfortable and immaculately clean, as was the bathroom. Slept very well in the comfortable bed. Surprised to find a nespresso machine in the room with pods. The staff were so friendly and engaging. Will definitely stay again. Highly recommend.

It’s a lively popular sports pub but it does close at 10 pm on a Sunday and 11 pm rest of the week, so not a problem.

Everything was brilliant. We had a lovely clean big room with a very nice bathroom. Wi-Fi was good, tv, tea making facilities, including biscuits, coffee machine, iron, ironing board and hairdryer. We were worried about it being noisy but it was quiet and very comfortable. Bar facilities were also good with very reasonably priced drinks with real ale on offer. Breakfast was cooked to order and the host was happy to accommodate specific requests. You won’t be disappointed if you stay here.

Lovely, well appointed room and ensuite shower room. The bed was very comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was well prepared, well presented and very filling. There was a good choice on the breakfast menu and unlimited tea and coffee All the staff without exception were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Our room was very warm, despite open windows and a fan but this was the only downside.

The whole feel of the pub and the rooms was really welcoming and homely. We were in a newly refurbished room, which was of a high standard. The location was perfect as we were right in the centre of Ilkley, just a 5 minute walk from the train station if needed. We ate from the pub menu, I had steak which was cooked exactly as I requested and it was delicious. My hubby had a vegetarian burger which again said was really tasty. The breakfast was just lovely, with the choice of full English, Continental, or both.
