A good old-fashioned, homely and spotlessly clean hotel with all the amenities I needed. Perfect town centre location in stunning Nidderdale and a short drive to nearby Harrogate for work. Landlady Lynn and her friendly crew made me welcome from the minute I arrived and no request was too much to ask of them. Keep up your kind and individual offering Lynn. I hope to revisit.
The quaint sliding windows were difficult to open (during scorching heat) and need decorating/carpentry attention. My room at the back of the hotel was close to the kitchen below and a thrumming extractor fan. However it was turned off by 10pm latest each weekday night I was there and was otherwise wonderfully peaceful. A two-storey high marquee (not the hotel’s, I was told) was positioned adjacently, very close to the bedroom widow. Sadly, it almost completely obliterated any view to the back.

We had both dinner that evening and breakfast the next morning in the hotel. The staff looking after us were very pleasant. Car parking was across the street, only 1 minute away from the hotel.
The hotel doesnt open there doors until 09.00 hours although we were given a key for access if we were late that evening. What we didn't know was that the guests entry to the bar & restaurant area was also locked (for obvious reasons to do with the bar). Access for guests wishing to departs earlier than 09.00 was through a side door at the bottom of the bedrooms stairs which to all intents & purposes looked like a fire door which we were reluctant to use incase it set off an alarm. Other than that, the hotel is in a good location on the high street.

The room was lovely - huge with two double beds in it overlooking the High Street, so absolutely perfect, really. Lovely bathroom with an easy to use shower and the breakfast was very good too with a choice of small, medium or large Yorkshire breakfasts and alternatives for vegans and those wanting something lighter. All good!
This wasn't the Crown's fault, but we were disappointed that the chef closed the kitchen early. We arrived around 6-6.30pm, on a Friday and checked in; we had a drink at the bar then a wander down the street to the park and the Nidd and around the back streets; it was a lovely evening. We returned to the Crown at 8.15pm and ordered drinks and asked for a menu and although it was a Friday night, the guy behind the bar said kitchen was closing so we had to go elsewhere for food which was a real shame but it was very quiet in terms of diners at the Crown so it was our fault, really, for not checking before we went wandering round. Otherwise, can't fault the place :)

Staff are friendly and welcoming, food is good. Our room was more than we had anticipated as we had booked a deluxe twin but actually got a sort of suite with one double room and one twin sharing a bathroom - which was ideal for my daughter and I sharing. Beer is also good with several real ales on tap. We were able to eat on Saturday night despite the fact that the phone reservation I had made earlier in the week had not made it though to the restaurant and so the kitchen was in the process of closing down as we arrived - and they were unruffled by the unexpected addition of another person when my brother turned up :-)
Whilst the food was good overall the Eggs Benedict on Saturday morning was a bit of a let-down. Although it was presented beautifully and really looked the part my daughter found it almost impossible to cut through the muffins, it was as though there was a really hard crust on the bottom of each. It is also unusual to find breakfast served with no offering of cereals nor any marmalade etc for the toast. To be fair, the medium breakfast was ample to keep me going until lunch time in any case :-)

Staff where amazing..didn't get the name of the girl behind the bar with black hair and glasses but she was absolutely brilliant great personality friendly and made our stay great and homely ..the crown pub is an amazing welcoming place..breakfast is so delicious
We didn't like the fact we could hear the kitchen on our room ..the chef and waitress arguing during breakfast one day and the choice of language used..the matress on the bed was so uncomfortable for us..

Staff were excellent and very accommodating, went out of their way to serve a slightly earlier breakfast. The restaurant was very busy in the evening and the food looked scrumptious. Bedrooms more than comfortable and had all the amenities you would need, including fresh milk in a flask...
Only a slight niggle, breakfast could start earlier and then we would have not been in such a rush. Though, we appreciate the effort to knock up a sandwich for us in the morning.

Busy family run pub in the centre of Pateley Bridge serving excellent evening meals, great atmosphere. Deluxe twin room was very small but spotlessly clean, well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast - no cereals, yoghurt, but lovely and very generous full English/eggs Benedict etc - more than adequate, really good.

Family room was great with two bedrooms. Although the pub was busy, the room itself was very quiet. Breakfast was fantastic, even a small breakfast was large! Accommodated for gluten free too. Staff were friendly. Light in child’s room wasn’t working when we arrived but they came and changed the bulb straight away with no issues.

The Crown is a classic English pub in the centre of town. It has good rooms, comfy beds, modern bathrooms, plenty of hot water, great wifi, and a locked storage room for our touring bicycles. Their full English Breakfast was large and a great start to the day.

The location, the town, the area, the friendliness throughout our stay- the manageress and her staff could not have been more welcoming or more accommodating -, the excellent food, the bathroom nightlight, the bottles of still water for the kettle, the folding vertical blinds . . .
Nothing!
