The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful , especially the manager who seemed to be there every day ! The room was comfortable I slept really well and the breakfast was cooked fresh and was delicious, I will definitely stay again

Booking . Com were hacked ! I was recieving emails from ppl pretending to be from the hotel to pay for my room , which stressed me out , when I contacted booking.com they blamed the hotel , but I've since found out it has happened a few times with different hotels , so obviously not the hotels fault , so don't let that put you off booking , however going forward I think I'll delete my booking .com account and book direct with the hotel

The Breakfast was excellent. There were plenty of choices available

We arrived at 2.00pm for check in on a Sunday but were told that there would not be any food available after 4.30 pm. As my husband and I had recently had lunch and we were looking for something for the evening we were quite disappointed. We were told that we could bring food in to the hotel to have with a drink. This seemed fair enough. However when we went down at about 8.15 to have a drink we were told the bar was closed! The Gentleman did give us a drink quite reluctantly though and when other guests came to the Bar he made it very clear that everything would close at 9.00pm. We were not given any notification that the Bar in the Pub would close early!

Freindly staff. Great location. Fantastic breakfast. I knew the hotel, so chose it for its character, charm, history, and central location. My mum used to live in the house across the street! This is a great historic hotel ideally located for exploring New Romney and the surrounding area of Romney Marsh and other tourist sights such as Dover Castle, Bodiam, Rye and Canterbury. We should have booked a king size room, but only the double room was listed on Booking.com as having a private bathroom. The hotel later confirmed ALL rooms are en suite. When I asked the staff during our stay they transferred us to a king size room for a nominal fee and we had much better night's sleep on the second night of our 2-night stay. The issue with the double bed was ours (our height), not the hotel's. There is a Greggs bakery next door, in case guests need a snack!

The hotel listing on Booking.com is NOT clear that all rooms have private bathrooms. If the listing HAD been clear I would have booked a King room for the whole stay. Guests should be aware the hotel is on a main road, with a bus stop right outside - we knew this, so wasn't an issue for us, even with the windows open all night. It shoulld be noted that bus passnegers like to chat while they are waiting for the bus! Guests should also be aware the windows on the upper deck of the buses align with the room windows of the hote (Room 3)l. Please bear that in mind when getting out of the shower! :-D

Investing building with good parking, a small garden and comfortable pub/bar areas. Our room (2) was at the back and we heard no road noise. The shower room was well equipped, as was the bedroom - be aware, this is an old building and each room will have its quirks (and we liked the shape of our room). New Romney is a bit shabby, but it does have some extraordinary buildings (enduring our evening walk).

The kitchen had closed when we arrived expecting to have an on-site supper (Whitsun Bank Holiday), but the High Street had several alternatives. I prefer to eat at our over-night hotels because it’s so much simpler when travelling.

Breakfast and room (as well as facilities) were very good, bar staff were polite and helpful but do seem to stand around chatting when people are waiting to be seen, chef is excellent, friendly, attentive, nothing was too much trouble.

This is a minor point, wearing my Fire Marshall's hat here... At no point did I see a 'Fire Evacuation' plan with a designated assembly point detailed - no notices either in the rooms (common in just about every hotel I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world) or on the stairway or in the corridors. Yes, there were fire direction signs and a clearly marked fire exit but in all of my years as a Fire Marshall and Safety Supervisor I have never seen a hotel without the aforementioned signage. A small point but I am surprised that this hasn't been picked up on their Fire Assessment - presuming they have had one.

loved the location, easy to find. room was small (single) but perfectly formed. decor lovely, en suite bathroom great, all clean even complimentary shampoo and conditioner with shower gel. bed comfy, kettle and condiments for hot drinks. Great desk/dressing table i could work at on laptop. everything I could possibly need was on hand. bed comfy. Littlestone beach was 20 min walk from pub. Evening meal homemade chilli just wonderful. complimentary breakfast was fabulous. nothing to fault..a great little pub!

The hotel was very clean and tidy throughout. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. The food at breakfast was enough to have lasted you all day. The evening meal, which was at an extra cost, was very good and well cooked and of good proportions. The room we stayed in was at the back and was very quiet. At the time we stayed it was very hot and electric fans were provided.

Unfortunately the room we stayed in, which was very clean and spacious, was of a funny shape and the bed was wedged in between 3 walls. Getting out of bed at night might have been a bit difficult for a portly person! Also there was a dire lack of useable power points in the room.

Staff were accommodating and very friendly and helpful and the bed was lovely and comfy.

The booking.com list of facilities needs to be updated as there were a couple of things on their list that the hotel or at least the room we were given didn't have. Nothing major but a little disappointing purely because I thought they would be available and had planned around them. If it hadn't said so on the website I probably wouldn't have been bothered that they weren't available and made different plans. Also it was a little tricky charging phones as there was only one double socket which was for the mini fridge and the kettle so we had to unplug them to charge our phones.

Good, clean room, quiet and only short flight of stairs away, With space for dogGood food with local Romney lamb. Staff run a tight ship!

Entry on Booking.com site says “charges may be applicable” for dog. We advised them 13 kg dog in advance, and confirmation booking stated the price was “inclusive of all applicable charges“, yet we were charged an additional £20 for our dog, who had his own bed, very clean.

The en suite was of reasonable size. Breakfast was excellent. The place is quirky. There was a small seating area in the room. Staff were friendly and despite being short staffed they stayed positive.

Bed was smaller than I'm used to, however if the bed was any bigger then there would be no space to walk around the room. Our bedroom was at the front of the property, the bus stop was immediately outside our room, wasn't so happy about the lack of privacy unless the curtains were closed.
