The location is exceptional with magnificent views from our room across Asknish Bay and down the Sound of Jura, flanked by the Craignish Peninsula on one side and the isles of Shuna and Jura on the other. Our room was in the Seaview Lodge on the groundfloor; the almost full-width French window opened out onto the patio, with a couple of steps down to the lawn and onwards down to the shore. The room was bright, comfortable and well-appointed. There is a choice of rooms upstairs with a balcony or downstairs with the patio - the only caveat we would mention is that the patio rooms rather lack privacy - guests with dogs would pass frequently and often gaze straight in through the window - I think another time we would choose upstairs. Because we are clinically-vulnerable, we chose not to use the hotel facilities and ate in our room, which we managed perfectly well, although of course the room is not designed for dining. We nevertheless did see the restaurant and bar when collecting (masked) our drinks and were impressed by the pleasant and comfortable environment. Both have that same fantastic view down the Sound of Jura and the bar has a pair of large tripod-mounted binoculars for further appreciation of the outlook. Although presently most people feel the pandemic is over, it isn't for the clinically vulnerable, so we were very grateful for staff acceptance of our masking in public areas and for the respectful distancing of the lovely staff who delivered our breakfasts and dinners to outside our door. The food itself was lovely. We particularly liked the 'North Sea Cod & Langoustine' and the 'Crisp Battered North Sea Haddock' - it doesn't mention it on the menu, but the latter comes in two portion sizes, the largest of which is huge. The desserts were excellent, as were the breakfast dishes. The area surrounding the Loch Melfort Hotel is chock-full of things to do and places to go, so it's impossible to be bored there!
There was nothing we didn't like enough to warrant the 'unhappy emoji', but would have liked more convenient device-charging facilities in our room. We loved our food but, as people who don't eat meat, would have run out of menu options if we'd stayed much longer than the 3 nights we were there. Breakfast was a little unpredictable in terms of what arrived, which we could have mentioned of course, but chose not to.

Amazing views from our room over the Loch. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The food was spectacular, beautifully fresh and local produce. I have never had fish that good in my life before. The restaurant looked over the loch with stunning views also. The service was fantastic and they did everything they could to make our stay special.
There was a power cut which obviously couldn't be helped but the offer of some candles or something for the bathroom (which had no windows) would have been helpful. We couldn't use our tea and coffee facilities in our room with no power but the hotel treated us to breakfast instead which was very kind of them.

Loved the cosiness of the hotel and view over the loch with the lovely highland cattle and goats in the field in front. Weather was freezing as it was a cold snap but it was still beautiful and room was lovely and warm. Food was delicious and service from the friendly staff was excellent. Fabulous breakfast to set us up for days out. Would return in a heartbeat.
Nothing really. Only slight gripe would be the shower pressure in our room (room 6) which wasn't great and only reason I've not awarded a 10. However not so much of a problem that it spoiled our stay. Just a little niggle.

The view is what is amazing about this hotel and the grounds have several friendly highland cows which were a big treat for us. The staff team are also super communicative and responsive - you can tell they really want to make your stay a good one. We ordered off the menu for breakfast and it was lovely; we noticed others were making up their own orders based off of what was available on the menu. It seemed so luxurious that the staff just accommodated those special orders and that there was a cook to make these breakfasts to order. I also appreciated that it wasn't a breakfast buffet. The quality seemed to be better and I liked that there was no food waste due to buffet items sitting out.
Not much to not like. We stayed in the motel like part, outside of the main house. The inside was no frills, not super modern or updated, but for us, that's not important. We just really appreciated the view, that there was hot water in the shower and enjoyed the hot cocoa with marshmallow on the balcony watching the fog roll in. We also ate dinner at the hotel, which was definitely thoughtfully made which we really appreciated. The only thing though was all our dishes were too salty for our taste, but we understand seasoning can be difficult to gauge especially with everyone preferring different amounts of seasoning.

The location is really special, set in a very beautiful part of Scotland with great views to enjoy throughout the hotel. The food is excellent, using local and seasonal produce and finding the perfect balance between fine and laid back dining. The surroundings are lovely for exploring, and just watching from the comfort of the hotel. We also really enjoyed the folk music evening (which is held quite regularly) and also a special saxophone quartet performance that we were lucky to be around at the right time for!

The location was absolutely fantastic, despite the wet Scottish weather the view was no less spectacular. This was my 7 month old puppy’s first time at a hotel and the room was great. A towel, bowl and some treats were provided for her. I can’t praise the restaurant staff enough, they were so helpful and allowed us to sit further away as it was her first time in a restaurant. The barman whose name I didn’t catch but mentioned he was South African offered us water for her and the manager ensured she had enough space to get on with her training. It was a really smooth process thanks to the team! The food was also 10/10 and the room was spotless. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you.

The location is great, huge picture windows capture the large panoramic view of water and mountains. After the long drive to get there it was fabulous to walk around ‘the garden’ which turned out to be a nice easy hike through beautiful landscaping with plenty of photo opportunities and a beautiful lookout spot with benches to relax and enjoy the view. Our room was comfortable and had a deck you could access through a large glass door so that you could stay inside and enjoy the view, or sit on the chairs outside and feel the expanse of nature. The restaurant is fantastic. The portions may be a bit small but the food was beyond expectations. I see why people return over and over.

This place is stunning! Food, staff, location were all fabulous. We got our breakfast and dinner included in the price which was a steal. I can imagine the cost racking up if you're on pay as you go. Little touches, like hot chocolate, tea cakes and bottled water in the room were great. The room was very spacious even with a pop up bed for our daughter and we loved chilling on the balcony with a view of the sea. Short walk down to a secluded beach which my 4 year old loved. The staff were so lovely with our little one which makes the stay so much more enjoyable.
Honestly, nothing. We will be back!

Great hotel in fantastic location, superb food, helpful staff, good size room, pet friendly
We stayed in the extension to the original building, which was ideal with our two small dogs, the decor is now slightly dated as is the bathroom fittings/ tiling. The external veranda woodwork is showing signs of needing a re-decoration. The mattress also could most likely do with replacing. These are intended as minor comments to provide feedback to help the business improve the customer experience. If these items were attended to this would be a superb hotel in all aspects and we will certainly be back.

The views from the rooms were stunning, a gorgeous view of the Loch. The staff were friendly, and there were highland cows just down from the hotel that you could say hello to. The rooms were nicely designed, and equipped with almost everything you could need. The breakfasts were also delicious - well worth getting up for!
The beds weren’t the most comfortable, as the double is made up of two twin size beds I could feel the line where they were joined in the middle. We didn’t opt for dinner as it was really expensive, but with the hotel being where it is, I was not surprised at the prices. It would have been nice to have a different option for coffee in the room - as I really don’t like instant coffee, even the coffee bags you can get with ground coffee would have been better.
