We had 3 rooms over our stay and found each one unique in their decor and charm each with a mini fridge which was stocked with fresh fruits, orange juice, butter & yogurt to go with the croissants jams as well as tea and coffee making facilities which were restocked each day, along with hairdryer’s and ironing facilities including a steam butler on the top floor. Plenty of plug sockets for phone chargers etc. The also a TV which was Freeview. The location was perfect, out the door turn right and you are on the sea front in 30 seconds. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from the information booklet along with places to see and things to do.

Unfortunately on entering the property a strong odour of cats pee in the hallway, but I can confirm that this was not in any of the rooms but unpleasant to say the least.

The location of Olivia House was ideal, just a minutes walk from the sea front. The rooms were unique in their individual presentation. A complementary glass of wine left for us was a lovely touch. Annette was very welcoming and friendly

Only a couple of little pieces of feedback - Ideally there would have been a mirror close to a power point to be able to stand and dry/ style hair easily. The sloping roof in the bathroom (Gemini) meant I could not see what I was doing and I popped into my Mum's room to do my hair there. It would have been nice to have had an option of red wine as well as white on arrival - but both are small niggles!

I loved the overall look of the House. Our arrival was slightly earlier than booking in time, but we were accommodated and given our keys. The rooms were, on first inspection, really lovely, clean and appropriate for the named room. The shower in the Angel rooms was amazing, with flashing lights and music if you wanted within the double shower, all I can say is WOW! The other room booked was also very nice. The continental breakfast was lovely, as was the coffee/tea making facilities. Being able to come and go as you please is a real bonus with any stay in a home away from home. The decor in communal rooms was very appropriate for the overall House experience.

On closer inspection of the beds, there were crumbs on the bed in the Angel rooms, and the bin and washbasin in the Gemini room was very unclean with days old yogurt in the bin leaving it very smelly. The owner has pets, which is fine, but the rather overpowering smell of cat urine may be very off putting for future tourists.

The decor was an amazing collection of eclectic items, gave the property an amazing feel of luxury and clearly a lot of love and care has been taken to create the unique ambiance. Perfect location, a short walk to the main shopping street, seafront restaurants and the beach. Easy to park on the road nearby. Spotlessly clean, which was amazing considering all the ornaments / decor. I was impressed! Nice simple continental breakfast in the room, porridge, Welsh cakes, croissant and pan au chocolate, tea, coffee, water and orange. A lovely welcome glass of wine on arrival too.

There was nothing I didn’t like.

We stayed in the balcony suite, the room was lovely and very quirky, We had everything we could possibly Need, Bed was very comfy, I loved the shower.The living and Dining rooms were like a museum, The Room was very clean and Tidy, Nice touch with the fresh cakes and fresh orange juice, We didn't see much of the Host due to spending most of the days out and about, We spoke to her on our checkout morning and she was lovely. Everything is so close by, to go visit, will definitely be a returning customer, Thankyou for a lovely stay.

The only thing I could find fault with is the smell when you first come into the property, if this was addressed it would be perfect, first impressions do count alot,

It felt very welcoming and homely. The boutique décor was absolutely amazing. I stayed in the King’s Room, and it offered more than I could have asked for. There was a complimentary continental breakfast, a small refrigerator stocked with orange juice, and an unlimited supply of lollipops and Welsh cakes. In the living room, you could also find complimentary mandarins, a full ice bucket of white wine, and more sweets. The classical music playing in the background added an extra touch to the already marvellous atmosphere. I forgot to mention the tea and coffee in the room

I would have given it a 10/10, but there were a couple of minor things I didn’t fully appreciate. There was a strange odour in the living room that reminded me of cat litter. I’m not sure if that was the actual cause or if perhaps one of the guests had brought a cat, but I could definitely sense it around the large Chesterfield sofa. Also, the bed was too soft for my taste, as I personally prefer a firm mattress. However, this is very subjective, and I imagine most guests would find it extremely comfortable. That said, I will definitely come back — the overall experience was wonderful.

Location spot on perfect location was warm and welcoming same as last year a minor issue was delt with quick and efficient so didn’t affect our stay so well done on that Wine and Welsh cakes were most welcome room clean comfortable and tidy well worth the money

Found it Odd that all the guests room keys were left outside ( owner rang to explain where they were ) along with a key to let yourself in the main building slightly hidden from view but still thought it was a massive security risk as came back at 10.30pm and there were keys still outside anyone could have found them walking past let themselves in and robbed the place or worse … Maybe a security box could be fitted to keep them in with a code to access it ? Like some Air B+B’s ?….

What a place! This is a beautiful old house. Our room was the Kings Room, with pictures of Henry VIII, crowns, plush bed, lots of cushions. It had a huge bed and a beautiful bath in the room. We had wine, chocolates and welshcakes on arrival. Breakfast was orange juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissants, pan au chocolate, jam, marmalade and flapjacks. The landlady mentioned a new bar she had opened so we went for a look. Ended up having dinner there and listening to the amazing singer. All in all a great stay! Would definitely recommend.

Everything..very quirky..americans would go crazy for it I imagine..if Americans ever visit porthcawl...my room was the Paris room and it was perfect other than it was only a bath in there and I'm a shower kinda gal...staff were fabulous and couldn't be more helpful...on arrival there were welshcakes and wine.thankyou very much..the Continental breakfast in the rooms fridge was gorgeous...fresh fruit.cheese..croissants..lush..and there were a pair of reading glasses in each room incase you forgot to pack your own...oh and there were brollies in the porch for us to borrow. And we did just that as it rained the day were there.

If you aren't very mobile I wouldn't recommend.there are a fair few stairs to climb and they are quite steep ..and narrow the higher you go...and downstairs there is a slight hum of cat pee....or it might have been the aged furniture....

Easy, hassle free self check in. Lovely clean room with excellent tea/coffee facilities and continental breakfast. We were in the Kings Room which was quite hot but fans were provided so didn't cause an issue. Great location.

We were lucky enough to get the last parking space on the street and didn't need to move our car so we were ok but could have been a potential problem. Obviously this is out of Olivia House's control so do'nt let this minor point put off.
