Good location, authentic, the staff were excellent, really quaint, nice shower

Not the property fault but I arrived during a heat wave and the room was really hot especially at night as it has a really small window and I had a fan. As an Australian who lives in a hot climate I still found it difficult to sleep. But unfortunately not much can be done about it apart from installing expensive air con in the future.

The room was very nicely decorated, spacious , the carpet looked as if it was very new. There was a large flatscreen on the wall so you could comfortably watch tv. The bathroom was very clean, there was a sticker to say the hotel was a green hotel to avoid water wastage which was a nice touch . The shower was spacious and was also immaculate, not one water mark on the glass door! The whole room felt very clean and well maintained . The first impressions of the hotel is it’s in a quiet residential it’s smart looking and on the corner of the road. Up the top of the road as you come out, the Gentleman on the reception pointed out very kindly there is a 33 bus which if your needing to commute to town for work is handy their approx every twenty minutes ie 7:03 then 7:24. To walk it , give yourself thirty minutes as the centre is not too nearby. There is however 2 minutes from the bus stop a train station so you have that option also. If your looking for somewhere with no night time noise , clean and comfortable, this is a good choice hotel.

Off street parking, excellent price, really great welcome and service. Definitely will stay again if I'm in the area.

Actually, there's nothing I didn't like. If I was being super fussy, I would say the shower curtain in my room wasn't quite long enough, and the hot water wasn't instant. Obviously, I am really trying to find areas for improvement just for the sake of the review. These are observations, not complaints in anyway as they didn't bother me at all.

Great location for attending reading festival, quiet peaceful stay with a very nice comfortable bed, large room with high ceilings. Staff very helpful, polite and kind.i would definitely stay here again

The only thing I'd say is the pillows, could do with a thick pillow or more of the thinner ones.

Very clean room with equally comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and helpful and, as it is a short walk from my son and his family, I look forward to staying there again

If it wasn't so close to my family it would be handy if some sort of breakfast, even a simple continental one, was available.

Shower didn't ever fully drain out so getting in the next day was sometimes a little slippery. Minor issue really.

The room was comfortable and the folks at Abbey House made a special effort to accommodate my need for an American style of bed making. The wi fi connection was nice and strong and able to support some demanding tasks that I needed to have done.

My room (Room 16) was way up at the top and that made it uncomfortably warm during the heat wave that the UK has experienced this year. However, the hotel did supply me with a fan that made things a bit easier. I found it hard to fill the electric kettle at the tap in the bathroom. The floor of the shower is a bit too slippery. I was worried at times, that I might fall but, fortunately, I didn't fall. I think it would be a good idea to insert some floor tapes that would prevent slipping.

Clean, spacious, nice clean bathroom, good wifi. Definitely would come back. The staff was very friendly and upgraded my room as I arrived late and it was the only vacancy. I traveled for business.

Excellent price. Small but comfortable single room.Very clean with en suite toilet & shower room.& coffee and tea in room. Staff polite friendly and knowledgeable about neighbourhood.. Bus number 33 on Tilehurst Rd just a few metres from hotel took me to Reading Town Centre and Rail Station in ten minutes.

My room was on the top floor. 33 stairs. I did not mind as it was good exercise. However if you are not fit, or you are disabled it could be a problem.There is an excellent large park for walking and relaxing and many high street small shops and cafes nearby. Generally in terms of quality of staff and service this is the best hotel I have stayed in in recent years.

I stayed here a few times for work, the staff were friendly and always tried to book me into the same familiar room. Everything was always perfectly clean.
