We had an amazing time at Lyons Woodlands Hall. We had booked a lodge weeks ago and had no idea that there would be a storm! We managed to get to the hotel after driving through floods and fallen trees etc. When we arrived, there was no one in reception and we sat down to warm up and wait in the bar. After a few minutes, a really nice man called Will asked us about our stay and what we had booked etc. He couldn't have been more helpful, especially when he explained that there were hardly any staff in because of the storm. He spoke to his manager who agreed that, should we not be able to travel home on Sunday as planned, that we could stay an extra night free of charge. He offered us afternoon tea free of charge and explained about breakfast with Santa in the morning. He honestly deserves a pay rise and a bonus for Xmas!! The lodge itself was clean, spacious and very warm, the heating had been left on which we were very grateful for! There were 2 toilets, which, when you have 3 teenagers, was a godsend! The kitchen had plates, mugs, cooking utensils etc. The beds were comfy and we all had a good night's sleep, even with the wind raging. I'd read some previous reviews about the lodges and was apprehensive about staying here, but in my opinion, it was a lovely stay and the staff were beyond helpful. We can't fault a thing.

I liked the Scenery, the view from window. Heating, shower was good, bed was comfortable. Room itself was nice and comfy, nice sitting area and complimentary biscuits were really good.

The only thing I didn't like was the Internet. Coz I needed to do some work on my laptop which didn't happen because of very poor Internet connection. If I won't stay again in this hotel the Internet probably the main reason would be. Secondly the taps are not the modern ones and not mixed cold and hot water together. So that's another downside. Lighting in the bedroom wasn't adequate. Toilet floor had some stains.

The greeting was amazing. Will was so kind, and although we arrived at 8.10 just after the kitchen had closed Will and the chief went out of their way to make sure we were fed. The entertainment was a surprise but great fun. I would have preferred it to have started and ended a little earlier as we had an early start the next day.

We were staying as the next morning we were going on an organised bike ride and we and 2 other guests were informed breakfast would be available from 7.30. It was probably just a tiny lapse in memory that the next day was a Sunday but at 7.45 there was still no sign of anyone in the building to serve breakfast, so we all left without any as our event started at 8am. Also the double beds were a bit small for 2 people. The room we stayed in had 2 small double beds. The whole experience would have been much more luxurious if it had been 1 big bed. The room was big enough to have had a bed settee if it needed to be doubled up.

Found this real gem by chance but what a find. Couldn’t find any fault in this hotel. Our room was beautiful. We ate both breakfast and evening meal on both days of our stay and the food was fantastic. For us what made this stay even more amazing were the staff. Will; the f&b manager was amazing and so attentive. He really couldn’t do enough for us. The young girl working in the restaurant was fantastic too.

In the process of building a swimming pool, wish it had been finished.

The room was lovely though very charactful however very noisy glad I didn't want an early night due to noise in the bar.

The staff are very friendly and nice enough but very incompetent when taking a food order for 2 people. This took 4 attempts backward and foreards. No one seemed to know what they were doing. No structure at breakfast time didn't know full options what you could have included on the room bed and breakfast option and no information given when checking in off breakfast times.

We felt welcome as soon as we arrived. The staff were very friendly and we had some fantastic conversations. The interior was beautiful. The beds were super comfortable which is a rare thing at hotels. The prices for food and drink were affordable unlike some hotels who actually normally increase prices. We would love to learn more about the building.

Nothing to not like. I would say during warmer weather you will need to take your own fan especially if staying in the tower room.

Lovely old building, AMAZING staff, Will greeted us like family & couldn’t have been more helpful! Girls in the morning all super friendly & breakfast was cooked to perfection! Good value & would definately stay again!

All the glass very dirty going up to rooms! Room quite dusty & felt dated! Could do with a good carpet clean & new blind in bathroom!! (Full of holes & dust) no tv remote! Probably just not on its toes yet as bit early season at moment!! Would hope all these things would be addressed

We checked in easily and got shown to our room. It was a massive room with en suite. Very clean. Two beds in our room. Large tv, tea/coffee facilities. Two comfortable arm chairs and coffee table. En suite had shower above bath, shaving power point, hand basin and toilet. They provided lovely clean towels, small bottles of shower gel, shampoo, hand lotion and individual soaps. Food can be bought in the evenings. Evening meals very good. Breakfasts you could help yourself to as much or as little as you wanted.

You could only get the guarantee of wi fi downstairs in the bar, eating area. Though I found you could occasionally get it in the room depending on where you were. The Sunday roast was a massive size. It seemed a waste of good food when you couldn’t eat it all. Hubby had beef and it seemed like he had half a cow. I had Turkey and I have had smaller chickens than the amount on my plate.

Quirky individual rooms in a beautiful manor house located within a mobile home site. Staff were understanding and pleasant.

No chef on duty in restaurant so had to go in to local town for dinner. Breakfast was acceptable only. I had written to the hotel twice asking for confirmation that a room could be on the ground floor or near a lift for disabled member of group; The hotel did not respond. Upon arrival it was clear that there are no rooms on ground floor and there is no lift in the property. Thankfully the staircase was wide and not steep so we managed.

From checking in to checking out - all staff delivered excellent customer care and service. The evening meal was particularly good value for money with excellent service. Breakfast was self service which suited our needs perfectly. The room was spacious, clean and warm with generous amounts of toiletries, tea, coffee etc. The live entertainment in the evening was an added bonus.

Nothing. We were very impressed with the standard of facilities and customer care which was excellent value for money
