Room was fine. We never had the Breakfast as we where on a Golf Trip and teeing off at 8.20 the morning after our Stay.
We never had the Breakfast as we where on a Golf Trip and teeing off at 8.20 the morning after our Stay. When we made this point at reception, no offer of an alternative was made to us - as in we could knock up something for you to take with you (Considering we had paid for a Breakfast as part of the booking) That was very disappointing. Beer from the Pumps was quite Warm, the cooler was not working properly - well if it is not working do not serve draught beer, and serve bottles instead.

If I had had to pay £20 more and breakfast had not been included, I would have still thought it excellent value for money. Bright, spacioys en suite rooms furnished to a good standard to feel personal, not sterile like bigger chains. Great location, just minutes off the expressway, plenty of free parking. Restaurant serves good food and again good value for money. All staff were friendly, helpful and polite and despite the high standards the hotel is exceptionally dog friendly. Could not fault our stay. We will return and would highly recommend The Oriel on every level.
Could not fault a thing. Honestly.

We checked in quite late, but the chap on reception was very friendly and got us sorted quite quickly. The room was spacious with a large ensuite. There is a sign on the door to watch your step as you enter the room - my partner didn't see this and went flying! However, we had a comfortable nights sleep. The bonus was the breakfast the next morning. Buffet style, but plentiful and hot. Full cooked breakfast, good selection along with pastries, toast, tea and coffee. Would we stay again? Yes :)
Nothing really.

The Oriel is a very comfortable and friendly Hotel, the room was spacious, comfy and clean with all the facilities that you would expect in the room. Some of the fixtures and fittings were slightly dated but this did not affect the comfort. Breakfast had a decent selection along with the standard cooked fayre which was cooked to order. The evening meal was also very tasty and reasonably priced, although the restaurant / Bar area lacked atmosphere. I did not have the opportunity to try the leisure facilities.
No real dislikes. Television remote needs replacing.

My brother and I were on a motorcycle tour of Wales, and we were permitted to park our bikes directly outside the reception area, which gave us some added comfort regarding the security of the bikes. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not open on a Sunday evening, so we had a half hour walk into town to find something. The staff at the Oriel Hotel were very helpful with directions and suggestions of places to try.
Restaurant closed on Sunday.

Clean, good value for money, excellent restaurant and helpful, friendly staff!
The room and en suite were of a excellent size. Very clean and welcoming. Sadly the bed was very small and the mattress was shot. You could feel and hear the springs as you moved in the bed. A great experience spoilt by a old mattress. Putting a super king in that room and charging a extra £10 per night would soon pay for the upgrade. I would certainly pay the extra.

The staff were very friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. The receptionists were very understanding about the situation I was in and kept my room available for me while I was unsure how long I would be staying for. The shower was excellent and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was very good.
If I was being picky the room wasn't spotlessly clean but it was acceptably clean as the beds, toilet, washbasin and bath were clean. Just could have done with a cloth/duster around the windows, door frames etc.

We love stopping in hotels for little weekend breaks and always seek out hotels that have good leisure facilities. We love a sauna and a pool !! The hotel is easy to get to and looked good from the outside. Reception was clean and professional and we were directed to our room (There was one small snippet of info missing at this point... see below) Room was good. It's October so chilly when we got in but the heating came on after a fiddle with the thermostat. Nice comfy bed, Tea and Coffee facilities and a clean functional bathroom with shower. Pool is midi-sized. there's a gym and a sauna. restaurant had a limited menu but the meal was good. Winelist a bit on the pricey side £30 for a Shiraz you can buy in Magestic for £7 but thats Hotels and restaurants for you ;-) The restaurant manager was really attentive, friendly and accomadating. Breakfast ticked all the boxes with a fruit and cereal bar and a cooked breakfast made to your requests. Tea coffee juices and toast... all good Overall a nice stay and definitely good value. We would definitely come again
If it wasn't for the nice lad on the desk at the pool and leisure area this would have been a big gripe. After checking in we went down to the pool only to be told that the pool was about to close due to staff shortage. Nobody told us when we checked in about this. The chap in the leisure centre agreed to stay on another hour so we could at least get an hour in. Had they told us when we checked in we would have gone straight to the pool. Just simple communication.

All staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was of a good size, very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was of a good size and a the actual shower was great! Parking was plentiful. Evening meal was delicious & good value for money. Breakfast was super. Didn't use the gym but pool & sauna were a nice treat towards the end of the day.
No background music in the restaurant areas, which for me dampened the atmosphere a little bit.

Really good facilities. Large, spacious room. Good breakfast and really helpful, friendly staff.
The only issue was I selected dog friendly and booked but when I arrived at the property I was told they had limited rooms for dogs and I hadn’t booked one of these. There was also an additional charge of fifteen pounds for the dog. Luckily, there was a room available and they were able to change this but this needs to be made clearer on booking.com so people don’t get caught out.
