Obviously the views over looking the river and train station was fantastic.

The breakfast. No where did it say it was continental breakfast. Our booking showed breakfast inc then to pay an extra £10.99 for a quite frankly rubbish cooked breakfast is disgraceful. We were very disappointed with the breakfast. 1 item each no black pudding. This is such a massive shame. I really wouldn't have minded paying if it was decent. Shame.

After reading previous reviews we were apprehensive...and left thinking if people had visited the same place as us? From arrival the lady in reception was pleasant and helpful, explaining everything. All the staff were lovely ROOM The room was clean, warm and the view from our balcony was wonderful, enhanced our visit. We liked the idea of leaving our keys when going out, took away the stress of carrying them around. FOOD We had dinner in the restaurant, it was served in good time, very tasty and value for money (no more expensive than places in town) BREAKFAST INCLUDED IS CONTINENTAL however enough food to choose from, coissants, pan au chocolat, toast, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, cheeses and meats. Cooked breakfast is extra cost, larger available in town for same price but its a choice. The bar area is cosy and staff are very friendly and efficient. Please do not be influenced by previous reviews as they are unfair, picky and some downright rude. Im so glad we got to make our own minds up. AREA Beautiful location. Walking across the Chain Bridge was a lovely experience crossing over the rapids, watching canoeists fighting against current was entertaining. The whole area is astounding, if you love walking you will be in heaven here. We shall be returning in the future.

Only downside was parking, small car park and reserve parking is high above the hotel with metal steps which are very tricky with luggage, but not hotels fault, only so much they can do given beautiful location.

The staff were excellent - professional and friendly. They do need to know more about buses and access to the hotel; and consider best way to access for older clients and those accessing from public transport. The staff I asked were new to their jobs and very good, but not knowledgeable on how to access. If the stairs behind the hotel are to be used, they need to cleaned of moss and the handrails and steps checked that not slippery. If using the footbridge, the access from the station needs attention - no good for roller luggage!!

The menu and food. Not enough vegetables in any dish - very stodgy and fat heavy. No Welsh dishes offered the week I was there. This was true for all the restaurants I visited in Llangollen. The breakfast is unimaginative and the same each day. No truly healthy options except the fresh fruit. Nearly all foods had sugar content; and the cheese were slices from bricks with no taste.

I’d seen a few negative reviews before staying here, and while some points (like cobwebs) are true, the property’s riverside location makes that hard to avoid without someone constantly cleaning. The bedroom was clean, comfortable, and although not ultra-modern, it was perfectly fine. Our balcony overlooking the river was especially peaceful. Staff were lovely the receptionist was polite and welcoming, and the bar staff equally friendly. Like others mentioned, a few things weren’t immediately available (ice on a hot day), but the barman explained the machine was slow, and he still made sure we had some to take to our room with our drinks. Parking can be tight in the first car park, so if you’re not a confident driver, I’d recommend using the larger secondary car park just up the road. Breakfast was continental but generous, with a good range of choices. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing stay.

The main building is full of character and history. The dining room has been added in a tasteful way, emphasising the view overlooking the river and light. We were there in brilliant weather, so were able to sit out side for tea, drinks etc, which was delightful. However, had the weather been unfriendly, there is no where inside to sit apart from one table in the bar area.

The bathroom was the let down; The toilet and basin were functional, but the toilet roll holder had fallen off the wall. The shower, electric, was functional, but the drain cover flipped up and off as you got in and out of the shower - not the end of the world, but both things that could be easily remedied, enhancing the overall impression. The dining in the evening is not chef run, but pizza and things with chips kind of food, which is desperately disappointing for a hotel of this price, (and calibre in every other way) The breakfast was nice, but again no cooking, not even boiled eggs. No indoor area to enjoy drinks if the weather is poor.

Loved our balcony room overlooking the river. We have stayed here before and love the hotel's location, right on the river. I really enjoyed the buffet continental breakfast, good variety of cereals, pastries, fruits and a choice of cheeses and cold meat and lots of tea and coffee. Our room was a great size, nice and clean with a comfy bed. If you're attending an event at the Llangollen Pavilion it's a lovely 20 minute walk along the canal (bring a torch for the walk back though)!! We're already looking forward to coming back next year!

My husband would have preferred a cooked breakfast (which had been available when we stayed last year). There were a couple of lights in the room that weren't working. We were disappointed to find the bar closed when we returned to the hotel (before 11:00pm) after attending a concert in the town. We would have liked a drink in the bar to round off the evening.

Location is everything and this hotel is spectacular when it comes to location. Away from it all and with fantastic sights and sounds of the river Dee. Breakfast, dinner, drinks and rooms all overlooking this spectacular river which also makes for a wonderful backdrop to a good night's sleep.

The hotel is somewhat dated and feels like a throwback to a few decades ago. The Junior Suite was awkwardly furnished and the space poorly used. Breakfast and dinner were both ok though the staff not quite as efficient or attentive as one might like. There is no lift, the stairs and corridors are narrow and awkward and there is still the array of seemingly endless fire doors. Thankfully we brought little luggage. Also, whilst it's remote and unusual location is its big attraction, do make sure you get precise instruction beforehand as to how to get to the hotel - it really ain't simple!

Our stay at this hotel was truly amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the lady at the reception, which immediately set a positive tone for our visit. The room had a stunning view — we could see and hear the gentle flow of water, which created such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. We slept incredibly well thanks to the serene surroundings. Every member of the staff we encountered was friendly and helpful, adding to the overall pleasant experience. Highly recommended — we’d definitely return!

The only downside was the breakfast menu, which we found to be quite limited. A bit more variety would have made the experience even better. Despite that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!

Lovely view from the room across the River, good tea tray (except 1 cup and 1 mug??) and good selection of toiletries. Restaurant food v good.

Although we knew that there wasn't a lift, the health of two of our party had declined since booking and they struggled with the second flight of stairs. If we stay again we would probably look at a room on the ground floor. Also didn't like the way the breakfast was presented... precooked on a hot plate, and a poor selection (no beans, mushrooms, and only 1 type of egg?)

Lovely location, lovely hotel, lovely staff. Rooms were nice, but a bit too warm for me personally.

Parking was problematic - not many spaces and a narrow road to drive down alongside water. Not much room to turn round. Sadly breakfast was extremely disappointing. Just cereal, toast and some fruit. For the price, we should have got a much more substantial breakfast as this is quite an expensive place to stay. Other people were asking where the cooked breakfast was, to be told there wasn't any. Such a shame as this was a disappointing end to our stay.
