Nice pub in small village with patio seating outside and great sunny terraced garden (not wheelchair accessible). Good decor and ambiance inside. Room (delux double) was nice. Water bottles in room. Great base for exploring the area with lovely circular walk starting just down the road. Inn provides walk info. Good WiFi. Staff super friendly and helpful. Food was good.

Parking a bit limited and almost nowhere to park in village. Staff were helpful and made a space for me. Made mistake of having window open and letting mosquitoes in for the night. So tip is not to do that; at least in summer. Note that village is picturesque but aside from a church there is nothing else. No shop so be prepared.

We loved the staff, our room and the food. Supper on our first night was an exquisite light bite. I defy anyone to cook a better Christmas lunch. Breakfast was amazing with excellent choices: something for everyone. Very dog friendly indeed. On checking in, our Norfolk terrier was welcomed with lots of fuss and the next day, a dog bed arrived in our room. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Great communication over holiday opening times. Fresh coffee and a cafetière in our room and a small flask of fresh milk. Many great little touches that meant a lot.

Slightly unnerving to find guests were unattended at night with only a number to call - especially as there was an incident being investigated by the police who knocked on our door.

Lovely place in a quiet area with very friendly staff, plus great food! The room was very comfortable and warm. A complimentary ‘welcome drink’ was very much appreciated, and there was a place to park our motorcycles behind a wall out of view of the road, which was ideal. Breakfast was included and excellent quality. We would highly recommended staying here.

Very low light in the room and no option for a brighter main light if needed (although overall we loved the ambience). Also we didn’t like the shower next to the sink/toilet without a lip or curtain as the whole floor got soaked and no mop / squeegee to dry it, which would have been ideal.

It is a very popular country inn and appears to have many loyal customers. They clearly have invested in their staff who have excellent customer service skills. Nothing was too much trouble for them. This certainly shows. Room was lovely, l had one of the smaller rooms which was lovely, however one day l aspire to stay in the ‘big house’. Charlie sorted out my Wi-Fi. Thanks Charlie. They have everything covered to a high standard, rooms, food, atmosphere, and clearly the staff are of the highest calibre. They appear to be a great team. Impressive.

You couldn’t find fault with this property in my opinion.

Very comfortable, clean and relaxing. The breakfast was one of the best meals we have had in years. As a couple of chefs it's hard o impress us (and we never complain) but this Chef needs to be known for his talents. Please submit him to the Masterchef UK program, he was truly amazing and the passion for cooking came through on every plate.

Little cold and too many little knickknacks around the room. Cute but I think I counted like 15 books. Not a complaint but had to move a bunch of things just to put my phone and water on the night stand :). I mean if that's the worst thing that happened to us well, it's a pretty amazing place. Super friendly staff and just an amazing place all around but OMG the food, wow.

My room (Perazzi) was very nice indeed: clean, warm and comfortable. Supper and breakfast were delicious. Staff were friendly and professional. I was able to park in the car park. The chef re-cooked my delicious scrambled egg and sourdough toast because the toast was burnt. He came to find me in the dining room to apologise, which I appreciated, and we had a pleasant chat.

At 6am another guest in a room nearby turned their radio on loudly and this was very disturbing. They turned it off at 7am. Service was very slow at breakfast. There were only three guests in the dining room.

We stayed for a family wedding in the area and used the King John Inn as a base. The location is in a small village in the countryside. Very pretty area. We had the biggest (King John) room which was very spacious. All the other rooms were comfortable, if slightly warm (it was July). Our bed was very comfy and the bathroom had a bath and separate shower which we liked. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful, giving us hints as to where to buy/hire replacements for dress ware left at home by family members. The breakfast options were great and so was the buffet provided for the family event on the Friday night.

Well it's a small thing, and we had fair warning, but we stayed for 3 nights and on the Sunday evening they closed up the food service at 6pm and the bar shortly afterwards so we had to go out when we really wanted to put our feet up. In fairness they had offered to prepare us some nibbly bits for the evening but we declined as we weren't sure when we would return from the day's event.

Stunning location! The room looked amazing (much better than in the photos on the listing I thought!). The attention to detail, such as really high quality coffee and proper milk, exceeded expectations. Had a great night's sleep due to the high quality bed. Shower great too. Pub is also beautiful and the fact that the amazing breakfast is included in the price is incredible! Will definitely return when heading this way in the future.

It was in a beautiful position. Everywhere was clean, the food was lovely and the staff were very friendly. When we did have a problem it was sorted and the lad who made the mistake came and apologised personally. The bed was sublime for me. I could have stayed in there all day!

We had a problem when we arrived when there was no table available for us to have any dinner or even sit at. The only place was outside and as a disabled person I cannot sit on those hard seats. This was however sorted within the hour and we were given an indoor table with a very comfortable chair. The only other minor concern was no rubbish bin and the towel rail was perilously close to the toilet and very hot!

Breakfast really special, people were very helpful and could not have been more willing to provide you with what you needed. Room was executive and really very nice. Size and decor of room was lovely and in keeping with the area. Facilities in the room provided choice range. Meal in evening was great and value for money with glass of wine from the lovely bar. Would definately stay again if attending wedding at Larmer Tree Gardens. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay memorable.

No complaints and could find nothing to improve on our stay.
