The property is well maintained and feels like it has just recently been refurbished but speaking to the staff it was done a while ago. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and our room was very clean and comfortable. We had a lovely view of Scaling Dam across the road. The food was plentiful and nice and hot. Staff were welcoming and friendly nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay here again.
I felt a little anxious on the first night of our stay to find out that when the staff locked up, there were only the 2 of us with no staff or manager on site and the property I'd a little out of the way.

The hotel was in a great location, with an amazing building that had clearly had a lot of work/ maintenance to keep it to a high standard. The bar area was welcoming, and the restaurant was lovely with good views over the lake.
The lack of staff severely impacted meal times. We thought we had arrived in time for last orders for dinner at 1900, only to be told the kitchen had shut at 1845 as no one had booked or ordered. Had this been communicated we would have rung and booked/ ordered. As it was the staff couldn't have been more apologetic and helpful in getting us an evening meal and we popped to another pub a mile or so down the road.

The setting was really great, with the inn being really clean, tidy and very tastefully decorated. Staff were so friendly and ever so helpful. The bedrooms were so clean, tidy and quite spacious with fabulous views whether on the front or the rear. Parking good and safe. Just wait for breakfast, as it is truly delightful, quality food and cooked just right. Evening meal special eaten, and the portion size was really large, could have been a meal for two, but so delicious.
Nothing really, only very slight issue was the car park, which was uneven for my low riding car.

The staff were friendly and the fittings and fixtures were modern and it was spotlessly clean. Nice little bar. Variety of milk such as Soya Milk. The restaurant was well spaced out. The breakfast was lovely and nice simple menu but really lovely. Good quality toiletries. bed was comfy and room was warm
The lack of choice of food as a number of staff had left. We stayed two nights and room was not cleaned in between so ran out of tea. Could only have fish and chips. No fridge in room as limited food would have been good as good have went to the garage and used the fridge.

The Jack and Jill is a lovely place to stay . You need transport because it's a bit 'out of the way',but the views make up for it. The decor and fixtures and fittings are to a very high standard and our room was tastefully decorated with the comfiest bed, plump pillows and a duvet that felt very new and cosy. Our room looked out onto a field at the back, which we preferred to the road side. The staff here couldn't have been more friendly, from Andy in the bar in the evening to the lovely ladies at breakfast. The breakfast was plentiful and varied and served in a lovely dining area overlooking the reservoir. There are no evening meals served at present, but I understand the new owners are to rectify this. It didn't spoil our stay, as we took the opportunity to drive out to Saltburn and have a look around, then enjoyed an early meal out. We had some relaxing drinks in the bar at the Jack and Jill when we got back. With Saltburn nearby and Whitby not far, all in all a very good place to stay! We would not hesitate to return.

The hotel was perfect, lovely mix of traditional and modern. We stayed in room 5 a lovely large comfortable room with sitting area which overlooks the dam, which was beautiful just to sit a watch. Bed was comfortable. We ate dinner on the evening beef Sunday dinner was amazing and breakfast was delicious too. The staff were all lovely and friendly and asset to to hotel by far .
Although there is nothing the hotel can do the traffic on the road was loud throughout the night. We wish we had took earplugs

Beautiful location on the moors opposite a reservoir lake. Rooms spacious with nice bathroom. Breakfast exceptional. They also sell fabulous scones to eat in or take away. Staff were really lovely and provided fabulous written guide for our trip back across the not to see the most scenic area s.
Unfortunately they stop taking food orders at 6.45 so no dinner if you check in of an evening after sigh-seeing. This is very frustrating as you don’t want to have to head to the hotel early to ensure you make the dinner cut off. They do however give great suggestions for some lovely alternative places to eat at other pubs nearby. Room was exceptionally warm even with both windows fully open all night I had to flip the velux windows inside out and physically clean both of them as both were totally covered in dirt to the point you couldn’t see out at all. The television would not keep a signal. Admittedly you’re on the moors and the weather was bad but at the price charged this should work.

Liked everything. Location suited our needs. Double room was spacious, nicely decorated with bathroom having a walk in shower. Breakfast was superb with big selection to chose from. We had an evening meal which was good value and well cooked. All the staff were friendly and attentive.
Only minor issue was the lack of space to hang clothes although we travelled light for our two day stay. This could easily be remedied by extending the clothes rail.

The food was lovely, the evening meal and desserts were good quality and very tasty great value as was the breakfast . Everything was piping hot and on warmed plates. Staff were amazing too really friendly and helpful. From the lady who checked us in and out to the bar and kitchen staff. Credit to the hotel.
Only downside for us it was on a main road so did get woken up as we were not used to traffic noise where we live. That said it wouldn't stop us going again!

The property was lovely . Loved our room and the view of the lake from our room was beautiful. The staff absolutely made our stay even better. There a credit to the hotel. They were so friendly helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. I’m sorry I can’t remember his name but I think he’s front of house ( he checked us in) he was so helpful in every way. Best service we’ve ever had and we’ve stayed in a lot of hotels. The bar staff, waitresses, chef all fab. The food was beautiful too. We will definitely be back. Thanks again for a lovely stay. Wish it could have been for longer.
