Very comfy bed and the room had everything we needed, was cleaned to a very high standard. Lovely open area for eating and very clean and tidy. Great position with easy access to the coast. Breakfast was good, reasonable quality for the price that we paid. We had dinner on one of the nights and there was lots of choice and the food was very good. The service was excellent, all the staff were very friendly and efficient.

A lot of door banging, not sure if that was just inconsiderate guests that were staying there at the time or that the doors maybe need something to just flatten the sound! A bit noisy, the building is close to the road and traffic noise does ramp up a little from around 6.00 in the morning, thankfully it's not an overly busy road early morning. We were at the front of the building so I would assume it's quieter at the back! Not sure if better glazing would help, I know there can be restrictions on what can be done in older properties. It wasn't that bad that it would put us off staying again, all the other benefits outwayed a little noise.

Handy location right on the main road, not far from whitby, room had some privacy as the room was located at the rear in the loft and overlooked a field which was nice , the room had a nice smell to it like a new carpet smell. It was a nice size room with a desk , 2 opening skylights which I loved ! Being a fresh air freak I liked the fact you can leave the windows in a venting position so you can have fresh air all night without freezing to death in the process. Lovely ensuite with massive shower Breakfast was fantastic too couldn't fault it Staff were lovely Evening meal was available Thanks for a great stay

The WiFi wasn't great and the tv picture was on and off too but maybe it was because there was a storm passing by i don't know And one of the doors below my room slamming doors several times were quite noisy Bed bit too soft for me but just my preference

Location ideal. quiet and relaxing despite strong winds rain etc that could have spoilt it . We were welcomed by a lovely lady .Gorgeous decor .very well put together looks new . Pleased in general.

The main issue We had arranged to book in a little early but due to very bad weather . The whole country was aware. it was an hour later we arrived to the room . The room was beautiful but cold .didn't feel cosy or anyone had thought about our arrival in the bad weather we came in. We were wet and cold. A lovely lady rang i presume the owner . Heat was on their own timer and not controlled by guests. The warmth on such a cold day would have been appreciated . Once we waited another 2 hours for heat, it was cosy in time .but only 1 radiator worked. If a guest arrives and it's too warm, that's better than being damp and cold and the room cold. Slight issue .breakfast sausages cold .despite being on hot plates

Very clean .Couldn't fault the cleanliness. Unfortunately, the lift was not working, which made it very difficult for one of our party with mobility issues.(Two flights of stairs) We had a lovely welcome pack of tea and coffee. Although we did not meet our hosts in person. He gave clear and full instructions of how to get in. We had everything we needed for our stay. The location was good. Parking was a bonus at a reasonable price for the day .Also secure !

Lift not working. But not the hosts fault. Some areas could do with some attention,loose tiles, etc.A bit of tlc with decor. But this did not affect our stay. Cleanliness was priority and we couldn't fault that.

location excellent for hiking and I will return for exactly this purpose. The rooms were quirkily laid out which I love, staff super friendly and helpful and the decor lovely and smart. Tea tray was PLENTIFUL which we love ! 😄 They were so accommodating with the food intolerance issues - could not do enough to make sure I could eat both dinner and breakfast without being made to feel like a burden. love the place just for this. The original building is so beautiful as well. Can imagine cosy winter nights by that range already Top marks for customer service. Over and above. Massively appreciated

because of the age of the building there’s a fun section walking to the room of dodging beams and boxing. just watch your knees and heads if you’re clumsy like we are 😄

Really lovely little spot. For such a great price, we were expecting a bit of a rough B+B but not at all. The room was modern, clean and lovely, with a gorgeous view of the reservoir. The staff were flexible with our check in times (we were coming for a wedding), all kind and helpful, and did not make us feel bad for working on four laptops between two of us (yes, sorry, we are those people) in the restaurant the next day. Oh and sausage and beans added to an eggs benedict without so much as a 'I'll have to ask the chef'? Chef's kiss!! We asked for a lot and we received it - thank you very much, we hope to stay again.

Loved our stay for one night while we visited Staithes art festival ,room was the loft one on the top floor but was everything we needed , bed so comfy ,no road noise ,ate in the restaurant later ,food was lovely , unfortunately there was a few staters that were not available but had the garlic mushrooms & they were veryy tasty ,Sam the lady that checked us in & shown us to our room was lovely & informative ,we later learned that she was on her own but she was fantastic doing her job & she was a credit to the Jack & Jill hotel team , the other staff were also friendly & attentive as well , breakfast was delicious & check out went smoothly would definitely stay again when we are exploring the surrounding areas in North Yorkshire 💛

The property is well maintained and feels like it has just recently been refurbished but speaking to the staff it was done a while ago. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and our room was very clean and comfortable. We had a lovely view of Scaling Dam across the road. The food was plentiful and nice and hot. Staff were welcoming and friendly nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay here again.

I felt a little anxious on the first night of our stay to find out that when the staff locked up, there were only the 2 of us with no staff or manager on site and the property I'd a little out of the way.

Very clean, comfortable room, excellent size and comfort levels. Very nice bathroom. Lovely breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

The window in our room was a single glazed sash window (or possibly very thin double glazing) and so it was very noisy as soon as the traffic outside started. It's a 60 mph road. We didn't mind being woken up early but as you couldn't get breakfast until 8.15, this was a bit of a pain. I would suggest they fit thick double glazing upstairs (like they have in the bar) and also serve breakfast from earlier.

The hotel was in a great location, with an amazing building that had clearly had a lot of work/ maintenance to keep it to a high standard. The bar area was welcoming, and the restaurant was lovely with good views over the lake.

The lack of staff severely impacted meal times. We thought we had arrived in time for last orders for dinner at 1900, only to be told the kitchen had shut at 1845 as no one had booked or ordered. Had this been communicated we would have rung and booked/ ordered. As it was the staff couldn't have been more apologetic and helpful in getting us an evening meal and we popped to another pub a mile or so down the road.
