Comfortable bed, good bathroom. We only ordered a main course but were waitng a rather long time. My hake was delicious but my husband's sea base not so good. Fortunately he was able to supliment it with my sauce. The cooked breakfast was good but the continental side uninspiring. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The radiator in the room didn't work. After trying what we could we reported it and were prvided with an efficient, though noisy, stand alone heater. The internal phone didn't work either. When we arrived the Internet was off but no one mentioned this and we spent some time trying to get the tv to work. The tv was in a fixed position to be watched from the bed.not the chairs, a swivel brackt would solve that.

Friendly, clean and comfortable country inn. Staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble. Great breakfast and evening meals (good size portions) and without exception we were able to slightly change the side orders for our main meals. Really popular restaurant, especially Sunday Lunch, so I would suggest you book ahead. Plenty of car parking for both residents and visitors. Rooms are spacious and showers are powerful unless you prefer a luxurious bath as these are a good size too. We have been going to Ellerby for many years now and the quality just keeps improving. The owners have also kept improving the rooms and bathrooms which is a good sign of a properly managed business. Good disabled access and facilities. If you fancy taking a trip out to the surrounding bays and towns such as Whitby then the X4 coastal bus stops just outside the front door of the inn so access is perfect, especially if you like a shandy or two after your walk!

I have nothing negative to say about this property or the staff. The only improvement I can suggest is to provide an electric car charging space or two which would certainly help to differentiate from other accommodation within the Whitby area.

Everything was amazing.we have had meals at the Ellerby previously and the food is amazing so we decided to book a room for the first time. We were not disapointed everything was modern so clean and comfortable. On arrival we were greeted with a big welcome the staff could not do enough for us everyone was so friendly and made us feel so comfortable. We had a 3 course meal in the evening which was some of the best food i have ever had. I never get through 3 courses as a rule but on this occastion both me and my husband managed all 3 because it was amazing. We are going to book to stay for the week next summer as we loved it so much.I hope when people read my review the Ellerby get more bookings because they should everyone should experience a stay there it is that nice.

Absolutly nothing everything was perfect.

Breakfast was as expected although I could have done with a little more of the Black Pudding . One of my party had a phobia about toilets and it is testament to the cleaners that she had no worries here. All of the staff I met were really friendly and nothing was too much. I particularly liked the attention to detail in our recently refurbished room (#7) although a hook on the inside of the bathroom door would be helpful. Great bar with good selection of beer and wine.

There was nothing that I didn't particularly like. However, when food and drink are charged to the rooms I would prefer for there to be a record of it; i.e. a receipt signed by the guest which can be produced in a case of dispute. In this critique there are aspects where the owner could say "You only have to ask". I expect hotels to get things right the "first time" without having to ask. The cleaner needs to shut the shower door when cleaning the inside of the glass panels.

Ellerby inn is a lovely property , situated in the perfect location for coastal walks and a short distance from all the other coastal towns . Lovely garden and private car park . Rooms , food and staff are all excellent .

Our room was perfect except for one thing , it was situated above a laundry and toilets and was very noisy . Once it was mentioned at 11pm things did quieten down by 11.15pm but heard again at 07.30am . Sadly we just wanted a quiet night away so noticed it more than someone who were out later and up earlier .

This country inn is on the coast road passing Staithes/ Whitby etc and the bus passes by the front door. Our room was in part of an adjacent cottage, ground floor and accessible for a pretty court yard/ garden, ideal for dog owners. The room was spotless and comfortable Staff where super friendly and the food was fresh and very good.

It was all very good. I couldn't see that they had a bar from the website , which was perfect for reading the papers with a pint.

The staff at the Ellerby ( significantly, mostly family) set the bar for all aspects of looking after guests. Friendly without being familiar, helpful and knowledgeable about the region, and excellent value all round.

The ceiling in our room creaked a bit when the people upstairs walked across their floor! Apart from that tiny niggle, ho complaints at all. Abby had provided a lovely bouquet for our valentines day trip. (I rang ahead)!

We took a few days' holiday after a busy festive season and are so glad we went to Ellerby Inn. Every member of staff was super helpful and friendly. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The hotel was warm during a real cold spell, breakfasts and evening meals were very good. A really useful benefit was having a reliable bus service stopping right outside the front door. We'll be back.

Everything about the property was excellent as usual. We have stayed here 4 times now and every time it's fantastic. Spotless, homley, comfortable, excellent food & choice of drinks but the best thing is the staff. Everyone of them are always super polite & friendly, from booking in to the restaurant & bar staff & cleaning staff, all are always really nice & that's why we will definitely be back again & again & again.

From the moment we arrived we were made so welcome .. nothing was too much trouble . Beautiful garden. Little extra touches make the difference. Staff very friendly and looked very happy to be there . Food delicious. Room spacious and very clean and modern .

There is nothing not to like .. it was perfect.
