The room we were moved to. Breakfast was good and plenty of it. If you want fried eggs/poached you need to ask. The location was superb if you walked through the gardens out of the bottom gate you were on the seafront. All the staff we spoke to were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is super dog friendly (so if you don't like dogs don't stay there) so there are dogs everywhere. It is not a modern hotel very oldy worldy

The first room we stayed in was over looking the bins (108) which were emptied at 6 in the morning. Also if the staff are outside smoking you can smell the smoke. Only point I would mention is the shower in both the rooms are very weak.

We had a huge bedroom with balcony and stunning views. The breakfast was excellent. I am gluten free and never stayed in a hotel where I am offered gluten free sausages. They were delicious too. We will definitely go back there.

Slight muck under the products holder in the bath and around the shower gel in the holder. The door on the side of the bath if you were using it as a shower did not stay put which would be dangerous if someone walked into the bathroom and did not see it.

Lovely hotel, fabulous location and grounds. We stayed in a family room, 203 and it was perfect, big room with lovely views. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Very doggie friendly, our dog loved it. Hotel supplied dogbed and bowls on request. Breakfast was excellent and we ate in the restaurant for 3 nights and food was very good and reasonably priced. Location is great, 5 minute walk to beach through the gardens and similar to train station. Pool was excellent, good showers there too, we swam twice a day, was usually quiet. It is a short walk from the hotel. Hotel was lovely and warm. Looking forward to returning in the spring!

My son and I each had a room with a single bed, which was perfectly adequate and great value as breakfast was included in the very reasonable price. The staff were all happy and friendly. The indoor swimming pool looked fantastic although we didn't find time to use it, as we were out walking every day through the splendid garden down to the sea front and into the town. The buffet breakfast had plenty of choice, with tables next to large windows looking over the grounds to the sea.

The cream tea ordered in advance for our arrival could have been better, with a freshly made warm scone instead of a slightly stale one, and the teabags in a pot of tea rather than in our cups, with no jug of hot water to top them up. It was a mismatch with the style of the hotel which suggests old-fashioned quality.

What a little gem this is. The hotel is worn, but gives it a comfortable and homey feel. It was clean, the staff were friendly, did everything they could to offer a warm welcome and accommodate any requests. The room was a good size, dated but very clean and comfortable.... And big! The location is excellent, good parking and nice pool. It is dog friendly and just felt very relaxed. The food was excellent and a good price. Will definitely be staying here again.

As I say it is dated and a little worn, which some might not like, but made me comfortable.

We had a fabulous room; it was enormous, with a 3 double-door bay window onto a large, shared [but zoned and divided] balcony, and we could see the sea, down through the trees. We could also sit outside at the table and chairs there, overlooking the main gardens and the flat garden which is on the roof of the swimming pool! Inside, there were two comfortable chairs, a table, chest of drawers and wardrobe and a large TV; also a well-stocked tea/coffee tray. Good sized, clean bathroom with a terrific shower. The pool was wonderful! There's an excellent system of exchanging your door card for a swimming towel. The changing facilities and shower were great and the temperature of the water just right for covering lengths after a busy day! Beautiful grounds with interesting trees. An easy walk to the bottom of the gardens, to the gate, where we could use a code and then walk into Teignmouth and the shops. Excellent breakfasts with good choices of everything. This meant we could go out for the day without needing lunch! Very helpful to have a car park, outside the main entrance.

All 6 of the lovely curtains needed to be properly re-hooked back onto their rails! The double bed was a bit firm for one of us, but the single bed was better - luckily, we had the choice! We would have liked better individual lights for reading in bed.

Firstly the hotel itself was beautiful and in excellent decorative order. Breakfast was very good with large choice of hot and cold foods. Next as our stay was mid March we were wondering how warm the hotel would be and we were pleasantly surprised as the entire hotel was absolutely perfectly heated. Another pleasant surprise was the well manicured gardens, beautiful even though it was only march the grounds staff had done a great job.

The only down side was the location of our room. Situated on the main road side of the hotel and due to the fact the hotel is a listed building which resulted in having single glazed Windows it was bit little noise during the day time.

The staff at the hotel were all so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. It felt like they made an effort to speak to everyone, and give a very personal service. The hotel used to be run by the Association for the Blind, and was popular for people to stay with guide dogs. Although it's not run by this association anymore, we saw the staff looking after some guests with sight impairments very well. The hotel is still very dog friendly. It was nice to see lots of well behaved dogs staying there, and the public areas didn't smell doggy at all. The gardens are beautiful, and so well kept. It's really convenient how the gardens lead down to the promenade. Also, it's a very short walk to the town centre, and the train station. We liked the grand entrance and stairway, and the lounge, and the pool (game) room. There was a good selection of food available for breakfast.

I had a little trouble keeping my shower at the right temperature, but my husband and son thought it was fine.

The hotel is well run, clean, the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good (we had continental) and the restaurant was very nice.

The bathroom could do with a bit of an upgrade as the shower cabinet was grubby and the area around the radiator looked grubby too. The side with the hand basin was good though, looked like that bit had been redone. The shaving mirror would not stay in position so we had to jam tissue in the side to stop it moving. We were wakened at 5.30 am with the loud noises of the bin collectors, as our room was looking out over the bin area, and this was with the windows shut! The windows in the bedroom had broken catches, which need to be fixed.

The room I staid in was very nice. Ground floor but still with a view of the gardens and sea. The staff were pleasantly helpful and very friendly. Breakfast gave four choices to have with lovely fresh poached eggs. Enjoyed the pool. The gardens were exceptional and great that they lead down to the beach.

The window sill in the bathroom was very dirty and off putting as directly at eye level. The radiator had a ball of fluff in it at the top which faces the bath. That I had No shampoo or body lotion in the bathroom as my friends had in theirs. The pool water was very cold and you could not stay in it long. In the showers the shower water pooled at the back of shower area and therefore wasn’t very pleasant to walk through. Also I felt that everywhere on the changing rooms floor was a slip risk as very wet and no cones or wiping of the floor appeared to be in place or happen.
