The room we were moved to. Breakfast was good and plenty of it. If you want fried eggs/poached you need to ask. The location was superb if you walked through the gardens out of the bottom gate you were on the seafront. All the staff we spoke to were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is super dog friendly (so if you don't like dogs don't stay there) so there are dogs everywhere. It is not a modern hotel very oldy worldy

The first room we stayed in was over looking the bins (108) which were emptied at 6 in the morning. Also if the staff are outside smoking you can smell the smoke. Only point I would mention is the shower in both the rooms are very weak.

We had a huge bedroom with balcony and stunning views. The breakfast was excellent. I am gluten free and never stayed in a hotel where I am offered gluten free sausages. They were delicious too. We will definitely go back there.

Slight muck under the products holder in the bath and around the shower gel in the holder. The door on the side of the bath if you were using it as a shower did not stay put which would be dangerous if someone walked into the bathroom and did not see it.

The location was brilliant beautiful gardens and walking area in the grounds. A short walk from the bottom of the gardens straight down onto the Promenade and town of Teignmouth. There is a bus stop just at the entrance to the hotel with makes it easy to get into the town or to go to Dawlish Torquay Exeter plus other areas. The train station is just a the edge of the town aswell. Idea for day trips. The Breakfast is varied with Full English or Continental Breakfast.

We had a wonderful stay at the Cliffden Hotel friendly staff they were always very helpful and attentive nothing was to much trouble. We asked to change rooms as the wife was finding it difficult to use the shower we had in our room that was no trouble next day we had a different room 😀 😉 all the rest of our holiday we just relaxed and enjoy our holiday 😀 😎

Due to staff shortages there were times when no-one was in the Reception. However when they came they were helpful, friendly and professional. Nicole was excellent when she was on duty. All the waitresses were good even though they were busy and the dishwasher was broken. The room was newly furbished and perfect for our needs. I asked for more coat hangers as there was only one in he wardrobe and requested a rubberised bathmat for the bath. Both items were supplied quickly. The bathroom was good and the shower supplied lovely hot water. The bath probably needed better sealant at the back. The grounds were superb. The swimming pool was perfect, very clean and inviting. I would describe the food as good and adequate. I did not expect Cordon Bleu food at a 3 star hotel! My dog came with me and was spoilt by guests as well as hotel staff. The beach was a little walk away.

It was a long walk and then stairs to our room. A bit tricky for older people with luggage and a dog. No complaints otherwise.

Comfortable, old-fashioned (in a good way) hotel. The breakfast buffet was very nice but the evening menu was a bit limited. The grounds and garden of the hotel were beautiful. The location was superb with views of the sea but only a short walk to the beach and into the town. The path down to the bottom gate was a bit steep and not easy for wheel-chair users but we are both elderly and the path was no problem

On one occasion we wanted to have dinner in the dining room but had not booked a table till the last minute and were told they were full because they were short-staffed. This was really the only negative point, otherwise our stay was excellent.

Lovely hotel, fabulous location and grounds. We stayed in a family room, 203 and it was perfect, big room with lovely views. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Very doggie friendly, our dog loved it. Hotel supplied dogbed and bowls on request. Breakfast was excellent and we ate in the restaurant for 3 nights and food was very good and reasonably priced. Location is great, 5 minute walk to beach through the gardens and similar to train station. Pool was excellent, good showers there too, we swam twice a day, was usually quiet. It is a short walk from the hotel. Hotel was lovely and warm. Looking forward to returning in the spring!

Perfect location in lovely grounds and is dog friendly. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the perfect weather!

The property is tired and the decor and furniture needs updating. The pool is a bonus, as it was not in use during our last visit. The breakfast is nice but the staff are slow at replacing buffet items, so there tends to be a wait for items. The tables in the bar and the outside area were often left with dirty items and not cleared promptly. It all feels a bit disorganised. The rooms are looking tatty and the bathrooms need a face lift. There is no air con in the rooms which did get very warm in the hot weather.

Great location. Lovely gardens with traffic free walk to the beach and town. Interesting building definitely not typically boxy modern hotel but a stylish property that has been well preserved. The swimming pool is an excellent asset and beautifully appointed. The staff were wonderful, so impressed with the young lady who welcomed us on the Sunday afternoon and the friendly gardener who was a mine of local information. excellent buffet breakfast but the choice of meals for half board rather limited.

There is a small amount of finish missing: our room was a little smaller than the photo suggested but had all the furnishings and equipment it should. However, the tv took up the whole of the dressing table top that wasn’t required by the kettle- a ceiling/ wall mounted swivel bracket would sort this out. Simple solutions to overcome a problem that in the event of bad weather would have been important. The mattress had rather apparent springs and near end of viable life but these are minor points to be helpful.

The grounds of the hotel were spectacular, a real joy to walk round. Staff were friendly and accommodating, especially the FOH and the waitresses and waiters. Our room, which was a Club family room was clean and spacious, and we had a lovely sea and garden view from our balcony. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant, but the bonus that really made the holiday, was that it was dog friendly, and our little pooch could dine with us as well. Also kids loved the swimming pool, and great proximity to the beach and town. Will definitely stay again.

This isn't a biggy and whilst we enjoyed the food, smaller portions would be great as there was some wastage, and we are not fans on BBQ sauce flavour, and there were quite a few options with this flavour, but like I said it's no deal breaker.

Really lovely hotel, old style furniture and furnishings - in keeping with the building and grounds - but not old in actual years. We loved the room - exceptionally spacious with lots of storage for clothes, cases etc. Comfy beds and spotless bedding, even a partial sea view from the window. It was very quiet at night and we slept very well. There was a fan provided but we didn't need it. The breakfast was well cooked and abundant. They suggest going earlier to avoid queues which we did, but even towards the end of breakfast nobody had to wait longer than a few minutes to be seated. The staff were super polite and attentive (not just at breakfast, throughout the hotel), and it was just a great way to start the day. We used the pool and also here everything was very positive. They even provide extra towels. The grounds are beautiful and make for a lovely stroll down into town, just a 5 minute walk to get to the seafront. We appreciated the 11am checkout so no need to rush after breakfast to leave the room. Finally, WiFi worked very well and connection was a doddle because there's no password.

Hard to find a negative, but if I have to find one then I would suggest towel rails in the bathroom. Ours was very spacious but nowhere to hang towels.
