Delicious breakfast, especially the lovely fruit salad. Quiet area and really lovely garden. Enjoyed eating our breakfasts in the summer house and spent relaxing evenings there. Also, quite unusual for a B& B, we had a living room as well as the bedroom. We were even able to store a little bread, butter, cheese etc in the mini fridge which helped us out in the evenings when we didn’t want to go to the pub as we had eaten a good lunch.
Overall, everything was fine. Perhaps having some wholemeal bread at breakfast would have been good. But since we didn’t ask for it, we can hardly complain. ; )

Property is as named, a little Gem - the hosts and so nice and friendly, place is immaculate- breakfast was beautifully presented and exceptional quality
Not experienced this type of accommodation before - walking through living area of host to get upstairs. Felt for the price of the nights stay the check-in of 4.30 was late ( compared to friends staying in other properties) with a 10 checkout …. Although it was different from Booking.com to welcome brochure in rooms

Excellent set up with separate bedroom and living area with a good-sized TV. Peaceful location, Great to have a little fridge stocked with milk and juice. Very good continental breakfast. 25 minute walk to historic Winchelsea and about 10-15 minutes to the beach. Convenient local co-op nearby. We stayed as a stopover, walking from Hastings to Appledore.
Standard double beds feel small as we have a king at home, but it was very comfy.

The entire place was spotless, felt very welcoming and homey. The hosts were so helpful and accommodating. Really could not have any complaints at all. The location is spot on as its so close to Rye and a nice long beach too.
The entrance was the only hindrance. Very easy to miss as it look like someone's drive rather than an actual road but that isn't the fault of the hosts and they do mention this in the first message.

My partner and I had a fabulous stay at The Gem. I really can't say anything negative about the place, everything was perfect. Beautiful, clean and spacious room, amazing breakfast with croissants and fresh fruits. Janette, the owner, is lovely and made us feel very welcome. The only thing we regret is that we only booked one night! We will definitely return!!

You are thoroughly spoilt when you stay at The Gem! The Gem was an ideal overnight stay for us on our recent cycle tour to visit Rochester and Canterbury Cathedral. The Gem is in a quiet location with a beautiful garden and within walking distance to the historic town of Winchelsea which is well worth a visit. The accommodation was very spacious, extremely clean and very good value for money. There was safe, secure indoor storage for our bicycle overnight. The hostess was very welcoming and friendly and gave us a delicious breakfast. A stay at The Gem is highly recommended.

Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. We had a bedroom, bathroom and living room with a TV to our selves. The bed was comfortable and our bedroom was tastefully decorated. Breakfast was the continental variety, with plenty of fruit and croissants. The rooms were scrupulously clean. The Gem made a great place to set up base and explore. We visited Rye, the nature reserve and Winchelsea.
The unmade road approaching was very, very bumpy. I suppose that is the price you pay for peace, quiet and seclusion from the normal hustle and bustle.

We loved the garden and most delicious breakfast. We had a really friendly and helpful welcome. The position was great for the beach and Winchelsea; both equally as accessible by foot if you enjoy walking or by car and near Rye of course!
Nothing - loved it all.

Very affable, attentive, informative hosts in a peaceful location with a beautiful garden to rest in.
Personal aspects that are only relevant to us such as cramped bathroom and slightly uncomfortable bed, due to our sizes. Others would be fine with this.

It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Janette felt like an old friend from the past, so easy to talk to. Her garden is beautiful, colourful, and understated.
The road directly in front of the property and all the other homes on the road has a private road which is not paved and is quite bumpy. This, I think, keeps the traffic limited. It wasn’t at a problem because it was so very quiet and peaceful.
