The location for the hotel is perfect. A quick walk from the railway station, and you're there! A very friendly welcome is met by reception who will help you with any enquiries. The room I had(5) was lovely and spacious..and warm too, as the radiator was on. Teamaking facilities with a good choice, plus 4 biscuits(benefits of travelling solo, I ate them all🐷) I stayed here due to attending an event at The Barbican. As I know York very well, this was again only a 15 minute walk way. The bed was super comfy, and the bathroom was a very good size. Faultless!
Nothing to dislike. Ideal location for the city attractions. Yorkshire Museum gardens entrance is literally around the corner

Location is wonderful... Five minute walk to the Minster and the city centre. Staff were helpful and friendly, has the feel of an independent hotel rather than a chain which is a nice change. Hard to put into words, but maybe more "old school hotel hospitality with modern approach to customer service etc..."
Not a "didn't like" per se... but if you have limited mobility it is worth checking which room you are in when you book as the main part of the hotel is an old multi storey house so if you're on one of the upper floors you will have a lot of steps to get up ( I was in room 11 which is on the top floor so four flights of stairs to climb ). Lots of rooms which don't have such an issue, so check when you book if this is a concern.

I LIKE TO SUPPORT “FAMILY RUN BUSINESS ”, WHERE POSSIBLE. I WASN’T AWARE THIS WAS. COMFORT AND CLEANLINESS IS A MUST FOR ME, AS IS VALUE. THIS HOTEL HAD IT ALL. LOCATION WAS CONVENIENT FOR CITY CENTRE, BREAKFAST HAD A SENSIBLE SELECTION, CONTINENTAL AS WELL AS COOKED, INGREDIENTS WERE OF A GOOD QUALITY. BEDS WERE SUPER COMFORTABLE WITH FRESH CRISP LINEN, AS WERE THE TOWELS. CLEAN BRIGHT WELL EQUIPPED ROOM. STAFF WERE JUST THE ICING ON A WELL BAKED CAKE. HONEST GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY. LOVE YORK BEEN 5 TIMES, I WILL COME AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. MY GO TO ACCOMMODATION WILL BE THE MINSTER HOTEL.
THERE WAS NOTHING TO DISLIKE. THE STAFF IN THIS SMALL FAMILY RUN HOTEL MADE YOU FEEL WELCOME AND LOOKED AFTER. WHAT’S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THAT?

We came to York to find the venue of an upcoming wedding we are attending. When we arrived the lady who greeted us at reception made us feel so welcome. Our room was a good size, with tea and coffee making facilities and an ensuite shower room. At breakfast the dining room was very busy, but the staff were so attentive, they made sure to check we had everything we needed. In particular the young man who served us coffee and made sure our cups were refilled quickly. The selection of foods and drinks available at breakfast was very good, pastries, cereal, fruit, cold meats, and of course cooked breakfasts. My husband and I both had a full English, which was very nice. The hotel is in a great location. Just a few minutes walk to the minster, shops, bars and restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay at The Minster Hotel, and will definitely stay there when we visit York again. We would both recommend the hotel.
The only slight negative was the car park. It was very busy and quite tight getting into bays because of this, wouldn't be a problem in less busy times. This wouldn't put us off staying there again though. On a plus note, the car park is secure and is accessed via an electronic gate.

The location is excellent with a short walk in to the city centre and all of its amazing attractions. There is private parking. The room was spacious, with comfortable seating and had good tea and coffee options with tasty biscuits. There was plenty of hot water and fluffy towels. The shower was a very good size too. Breakfast was exceptional with an excellent choice, all served by incredibly friendly and helpful staff. All of the staff, including the reception, were engaging and super friendly and we have booked again.
The bedroom is a little dated, with a torn curtain and marginally uncomfortable beds. However, the hotel is undergoing a refurbishment programme.

Very well located just a short walk from York Minster, this hotel has private parking at the rear but accessed from the front down a driveway. We have visited this hotel on numerous occasions over many years and although we have occasionally tried other accommodation, we always come back to The Minster. Apart from the excellent location, the car parking and the very nice rooms, the outstanding feature is the staff. It is difficult to overstate the genuine friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at this hotel. It feels like 'coming home' when we stay here.
No problems with anything.

10 minutes walk from the beautiful Castle Gardens, boat tour jetty, York Minster, and all the eateries/shops. Excellent breakfast with a plentiful buffet of fruit, pastries, muesli, cereals, yoghurt, fruit juices, local bread, ham, and cheeses in addition to a large menu of cooked options and fresh coffee and teas. All areas of the hotel were spotless, and all the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I was away for 1 night with my adult son, and we were in room 23, which is tucked away across the courtyard at the back of the building, making for a very peaceful stay. The room was very spacious with an armchair, television, free wifi, and well stocked tea tray, which is refilled daily. A spacious bathroom with the largest bath I have ever been in lovely, bath products, large fluffy bath sheets, and towels. The room has a double bed and a single bed. My son had the double bed, which was very comfortable. I had the single bed, and while it had a thin topper, I still found it hard and uncomfortable and one of the pillows lumpy. My son ended up swapping pillows and putting 2 blankets that were in the room on top of the mattress beneath the sheet, which enabled me to sleep. In the interest of full transparency, I have fibromyalgia, as such, I am in pain all the time and overly sensitive to any lumps and bumps (My husband often says I'm like the story The Princess and The Pea). Because of this, I didn't feel the need to complain to the staff that night. On checkout, I did feedback on my experience being sure to impress upon the lady at reception that it wasn't a complaint, but a suggestion that perhaps a thicker topper might be a good idea. The lady was lovely and very considerate, checking that I was okay and made a note of my suggestion. I would definitely book the hotel again, without a doubt. Excellent value for money, in an excellent location with secure parking, which is free if you book directly with the hotel.
Nothing to dislike.

This hotel was so nice! The room was recently refurbished and had a really nice bathtub. It was cozy and there was art on the walls which was nice. The wall paper was also nice and the bed was perfect. I LOVED that they left toilet paper and tea outside your room. When I stay at hotels, I hate letting strangers in my room to clean it, but that often means I have to ask for more toilet paper. So the fact that they leave it outside every day made the stress of needing to get more go completely away. I would definitely go here again!
My only nitpick is that the remote's buttons were a bit faded, but that was a complete non-issue. I am just writing something here for the review. It was really a lovely hotel.

This was a very conveniently situated hotel for exploring the city of York. The staff were friendly and courteous. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was enormous! Car parking was available on site although I hadn't taken advantage of that as it couldn't be booked in advance through Booking.com. However there were spaces vacant so next time I would try and book direct with the hotel.
Nothing to dislike really. The room was in an outside lodge so I suppose it might have been a nuisance if the weather had been bad as it was accessed from outside the main building.

A step away from the Minster, the hotel is very handy for central York, with all it has to offer. The helpful and friendly staff gave us a warm welcome. They quickly organised a more accessible room, which was quiet, spacious and very comfortable, with a huge bed and great TV. Generous tea, biscuits, etc., in the room. The hotel is being renovated, but that didn't affect us at all - instead it is now freshly decorated. The breakfast is exceptional, with an extensive buffet, as well as a wide range of freshly cooked options, mainly using locally sourced ingredients.
A very minor issue was having to stretch across the cold water in the shower to work the temperature gauge, which wasn't clearly marked. But this is hardly worth mentioning against all the positives!
