Great location- 10 minute walk from the rail station, 10 minute walk to the Minister, opposite one of the entrances to the gardens. Staff very friendly and helpful.

A bit on the pricey side for a room only, as breakfast was not included but probably to be expected as so close to the city.

This is my second time staying at Jorvik House as a solo traveller. The staff are helpful and accomodating and the hotel is lovely and in a perfect location for exploring York. Rooms are a good size, amenities are great (tv, hairdryer, minibar, fan, kettle and complimentary tea/coffee). Loved my view of Museum Gardens from the top floor room and found the early check-in incredibly helpful and really reasonably priced- (i arrived before even the Early Checkin time and was happy just to wait in the lounge until it was time to check in but the room was already available for me and I was shown to my room/helped with my bags - fantastic service!)

Great staff, lovely rooms. I really enjoyed the walk into town in daylight. Lovely quiet area. 10 mins walk from station. I felt very safe in the property as a solo female traveller

I thought it was odd that no complimentary water was provided though lots of paid mini bar options. There is a Sainsbury’s nearby. Some of the pillows were a bit lumpy and a better mattress topper would have been appreciated but I still slept well. Walking to and from town centre in the dark was not well lit with shorter routes along the river so I opted for an uber back after meeting friends for dinner.

Our room was cosy and the bed was really comfortable. The staff were really warm and friendly and offered suggestions for pubs, restaurants and other tourist attractions. The location of the guest house was excellent; it was only a 5 minute walk through York gardens (which was directly opposite) to all the main city centre shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. It is ideal if you travel by train as it is only a short 5 - 10 minute walk from the station to the guest house.

Not an issue for me but if you struggle with stairs there is no lift, so I would recommend booking a room on the ground floor.

The warm welcome on arrival and departure, and very helpful. The room was comfortable in lovely setting with a spacious modern bathroom.

The room was very comfortable. This hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the inner city of York. During the day a pleasant walk through the Museum Gardens takes you through to the centre. Otherwise walking along by the river or along Marygate on to Bootham is the other options to the city centre. Either way 15 minutes or so. The Hotel is 15-20 minutes walk from the railway station, no problem for myself. A breakfast could be ordered. Whether I missed it or not on the web pages I did not realise that breakfast would be delivered to the room. I prefer having my breakfast in a dining room.

As mentioned above not having a dining room for breakfast is a minus for me.

The receptionist and staff around were all pleasant and greeted us with a smile and had a general chat. The location was about 10-15 minutes from the train centre the same to the centre, lovely walk through the gardens too. We didn’t have breakfast this was an optional extra. Are room was on the front very well equipped, warm and spacious. It was a little noisy at times when some people walked past and the odd car, however we heard an owl which was lovely! Overall enjoyed our stay and would like to come back when next in York

The staff were extra helpful, especially on checkout where they were willing to keep my expressed breast milk in their fridge until our train which avoided wastage. There is staff onsite 24/7 which we didn’t need but good to know if there was an emergency, this was extremely helpful since we arrived around 8pm on arrival night so they are quite flexible for evening check-ins. Also love the proximity to the city centre and for the price paid it feels like a bargain. The decor in the room is minimal but doesn’t detract from the overall beauty of the accommodation.

The room was quite hot and opening the window and the little fan weren’t as good at cooling the room as possible but this wouldn’t deter me from using this site again.

A quiet, quirky property directly opposite the museum’s beautiful gardens. Perfectly placed for exploring York. Our room was perfect for our needs - very clean and comfortable with every facility you would expect. The ensuite bathroom (walk in shower) was great too. We chose not to breakfast there (continental to be ordered the night before) or use the extremely well stocked mini-bar, but this was no reflection on Jorvik House; just our personal choice. Every staff member we met was cheerful and friendly. When we couldn’t work out how to boost the heating, (on a cold night), we were helped immediately to put it right. Nothing was too much trouble. We would have no hesitation in staying at Jorvik House again.

The only, very minor, thing was the lighting in the room (we were in the ground floor) - fine if you were by the bed lamps but a bit dark if you wanted to read something elsewhere in the room. It wouldn’t prevent us from staying again though.

The hotel is brilliant & in a very good location we love it.

When we were checking out we didn't like the way a manager spoke to a member of the house keeping team in front of guests, it was clear there was a house keeping shortage he was very abrupt with the staff & rude in front of us. The girl asked cant you help, he replied im not house keeping im a manager as if it was beneath him. We didn't feel it was good or professional especially coming from a manager.
