Well worth a stay as long as you are happy with the limitations of being in a room first in service in the 1930's, which for us was part of the charm. Room size was adequate, cleanliness was good and we had an excellent view of Long Beach from our portholes (which opened). Staff were helpful but we almost found out by accident that guests were entitled to a discount on the ships tours, which were excellent, and free entry to a fantastic Jazz night in the main bar ($20 pp normally) which was the highlight of our stay. There is a lot of ship to explore and a lot of history to absorb. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay on board.
The thing that stood out for us was the lack of the usual in-room basics such a coffee maker or fridge although there was space for them, it was obvious that the aim was to get guests to part with more money at the on-ship dining outlets, fortunately the quality was good. Comfort-wise the bed was the smallest and least comfortable of the whole trip, although not actually uncomfortable it could have been better. One other thing to remember is that being a dock you have to use ground transport to see anything of Long Beach or LA itself, walking is not really an option. If your driving, parking is charged at $20 per day. Guests with limited mobility would have issues with access to some areas of the ship but that is to be expected considering the Queen Mary's age.

The ship was amazing, and there is so much history. Thank goodness it was 56 degrees outside. There is no AC. We were able to get a fan and open the porthole..
No air conditioner in rooms.

Historical and unique destination. Tour guides were outstanding. Wait staff were very attentive. I had an emotional response when I removed the drawer in the stateroom and found notes left by soldiers from WWII.
Dining options are limited. I would have preferred more emphasis on the wartime years when converted to a group ship.

It was fun to be on the ship. We loved walking after dinner and looking at the Harbor. This was so much better than just a motel/hotel room. The room was spacious. The portholes opened, so we had fresh air. The bed was comfortable with good sheets. We hosted friends for dinner. The table service was excellent. There was a coffee shop onboard. The bar was active. The views were excellent.
The Queen Mary is an old ship. The bathtub was worn out. One of the portholes wouldn't close all the way (which was fine with me as I wanted fresh air). The photo on the website showed 2 chairs in the room; there was only one. (However, we asked the desk for another and got one.) Parking is not included in the room rate.

Was a bit skeptical from some reviews but booked for event that was on property for halloween. Keeping in mind the ship was old. It is not luxury but very well preserved and period correct. Room was bigger then expected. Kids had own area. Great view of harbor. Cafe food was very good and portions shareable. We ate lunch and breakfast there. Tours are 1/2 off as a guest. Ghost/haunted tours were great. Ship definitely haunted. Did not realize proof until going back thru pics/videos. It's not just a hype. Best staff I we have had in a hotel in literally yrs. They like working there and reflect that on guests with attention and friendliness. Ship is a great piece of history. We went for Dark harbor which being a hotel guest gave you a lot of perks for event. We enjoyed the ship more then the event. We are going back in Dec to do the rest of tours. Did Disneyland the Monday after. My kids said Queen Mary was better. Downfalls* but not huge deal No food on ship after 10pm. Vending machines only. No room service. No guest pool. A/C is super primitive. Port holes do open and sea breeze is nice but probably not comfortable in hot months. I would not recommend inside middle rooms. No windows. A lot of stairs slow and small elevators Restaurants on board are a bit pricey but good food and shareable. Lunch x4 $100 Breakfast x4 $70
You either understand the age of the ship and appreciate it or you will probably hate everything about it.

The history.
When staying here you have to realise it’s a museum and an historic old ship, so it’s unfair to compare it to a standard hotel. You have to embrace the old.

We were originally put in a room right by the front desk on a deck but we did not like that location so we asked to be moved. They moved us to be deck at the very back and it was quiet and relaxing. It was fun to explore the ship at night and see all the cool things from the past. The artifacts were a nice touch. I cannot wait to come back one day from Canada!
We were a little disappointed because at the time of booking we were supposed to get 2 breakfast buffets included, which were not provided to us. We did not know that until we checked in and they told us that we had to pay extra, but that was not what I paid or asked for. Also we were disappointed that we had to pay for parking as paying guests. It's not cheap to stay at this ship and parking should be included or at least discounted for guests

Amazing experience from start to finish. Staff are friendly and happy to educate you on the history. You can explore so much of the boat and I recommend finding the speakeasy if you enjoy cocktails. Rooms make you feel like you're in the 30s/40s. Bed was comfortable and we had plenty of room. We didn't have any complaints at all.
We had zero complaints about our stay. However, yhe boat is 90 years old so it has a few things to be prepared for. The climate control system doesn't allow for controlling temperature in each room, so some are warm and others can be cold. They provide fans and extra blankets if needed. The walls are thin so you will hear your neighbors and they will hear you. It wasn't an issue for us but I can see how others might have an issue with that. The bathrooms are old and might be a little tight for some, but very clean and everything works.

It's a historical beauty. The observation room is the place to go for a nice drink and great views. Chelsea Chowder House looked nice, but we did not dine there. There are plenty of dining options close by if one chooses. A tour is a must, and the engine room was truly amazing.
The ship is under renovation. The room was not exactly what I booked. There were no chairs to sit in. The room was small. And there is no heat. (However, blankets are available.)Hot water took several minutes.
