Amazingly friendly staff , I felt so welcome on arrival as I was extremely jetlagged and just wanted a safe , quiet , chill place on arrival to nurse my wounds and smell the ocean air. I got all of the above. From the outside the pictures do not do this establishment justice, it's beautiful just like the two staff that met me on arrival and their seriously super cute kids. Instantly felt at home and relaxed, the room was much bigger, cleaner and fitted out better than I expected. Would recommend for anyone from solo travelers to families who want to be striking distance to SF but without all the drama and hassle.

The atmosphere in the hotel is very calm, the staff is very friendly. They have parking. Room was clean and good for the price. There’s a cozy lounge area with a fireplace, a sofa, and a coffee corner where guests can make tea or coffee. The only thing that bothered me was the noise coming from the fridge and the air conditioner — it made it hard to sleep at night. Also, be aware that the hotel is located right next to the road, so you can hear traffic noise as well

The staff was super friendly. I booked a room, assuming it had a balcony. I asked if I could upgrade to one with a balcony, and the front desk helped with no problem. The rooms were large, and the ceilings were high. It was very clean, and the bed was comfy. The overall place was small but I quite liked it. It felt more intimate and peaceful. I loved the location it was right next to a delicious sandwich shop and gas station/ liquor store, and right across the street from the beach! I definitely enjoyed my stay.

I thought this place had a better beach view, but instead, it was the parking lot. That was kind of disappointing, but I enjoyed my room so much that I still had a great time. Plus, the beach wasn't far to get to. They should just make that more clear in the description.

Our ADA room was SPECTACULAR, and the access some of the easiest I have experienced in any hotel. A beautiful, unique space (stained glass in our room!); patios on either side of the building; wonderful staff!

We didn't know our second bed was a sofa bed, and when we unfolded it, there were no sheets on it, nor any in the ample storage closet/drawers. Easily remedied, though!

Beautiful hotel with a fantastic location. Very nice lobby, comfortable bed and pillows and a large bathroom with rain shower head. Pretty good distant view of the ocean from the first floor side room. Grocery mart and gas station next door was very convenient. Staff was quite friendly and helpful.

It was extremely comfortable, quiet, and the rooms were spacious! It satisfied every thing we needed for our trip. I thought that Montara was very far from the city, but it was actually really easy to go into the city, traffic was not a problem. You get the peace of being by the beach, but it's still easy to visit the touristy areas in the city.

It takes forever for there to be hot water. Either you brush your teeth and wash your face with ice cold water or you stand there with the water running for 15 minutes waiting there to be warm water. And that goes for the shower as well. The stairs that lead up to the 2nd floor is pretty old so other rooms/guests can hear others going up and down the stairs. The sheets on the bed don't fit the mattress. I've woken up a couple times with the corner of the sheet snapping me in the face.

Great location to Montara beach and hiking trails, and good sandwich shop next door. Loved the room and outdoor seating, perfect for reading and wandering around. Clean, comfy and great coffee / tea Kuerig in room.

No ocean view from room or seating in front of reception, but I knew this from reviews. Ocean is just across the road, and a couple minutes to great sunset views.

The hotel is unique; no sign of being part of a chain. There may be only about 9 rooms; the front is almost entirely glass; the breakfast nook a real treasure, and the staff was available and personable. Our room was one of the simplest, spacious with updated everything it what appears to have been a mansion with 10 foot ceilings. We saw some upstairs rooms, too, which has views of the ocean or hills to the east. They were really big with sitting areas, tables, and direct access to decks on the front of the hotel. The parking was adequate and the location on Highway 1 very convenient for getting to and from the hotel. There's no beach but just across the highway (which is just one lane in each direction), there's a street with fabulous views of the ocean and waves crashing against the cliffs.

Two things come to mind - in the shower, it was tough to find the sweet spot for hot water. I felt like a lot of water was wasted finding out how to use the faucet. And, the foam mattress is not something I'm used to, so it felt odd to sleep in the depression my body made in the material, but we did sleep pretty well in the melody of rain and crashing waves.

The location was excellent and the staff were fantastic. The rooms themselves are very spacious, and the amenities are fantastic.

If I had to nitpick, I’d say the walls may be a bit thin which makes for a bit of noise from other guests.

Staff and management went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and changes in our booking. The location was prime near water and trails. The suite was very pretty and fully equipped.
