The hotel is located at what feels like the edge of Oakland’s “uptown” with clean rooms and just enough amenities - a wall of hooks but no closet, a mini fridge but no lounge chair, a small foldaway desk rather than a real desk - but nothing was lacking.

The lobby bar is very popular and packed with locals at night which makes it very lively but crowded and music was loud. While it says parking is available, they only have valet parking at $40 per day. The front desk will also take a deposit upon check in for “incidentals” and return it in 2-3 days after check out. While check out is at noon, be aware that digital room keys will stop working after 11am.

The staff were quite welcoming. After having to change rooms 3 times, we finally got a room that had facilities for disabled person, the phone worked but the t.v. Only worked for Pluto or streaming you tube.

I was given the impression that the room I was paying for had a hot tub, not only did it not have one, there is no hot tub in the place. I paid a high price for a minimalist room. Although it was a king room there was only enough space to walk on one side of the bed.

We came here to see a show at the Fox Theater, and the hotel is conveniently a three minute walk to the venue. The hotel is quite hip, and at check in we got two drink tickets for the bar. The bar looked fun, but we did not partake. Our room was nice, clean, and I really liked the aesthetic. TV was large and situated perfectly in front of the bed. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom and shower were really sleek and cool! The doorman remembered us every time we came back to the hotel.

Well, this is Oakland - although the location was convenient, there was a random homeless man throwing stuff into the street on our very short walk to the venue, so just be wary. This is to be expected though. The hotel itself is great!

The location was absolutely perfect. I was going to a show at the Fox Theater and it was just a 6 minute walk. I felt very safe for being a solo female traveler in Oakland. The hotel had hot coffee and tea always readily available that was complimentary & also a complimentary glass of wine or beer at the bar when you checked in. They dont have a restaurant, but have a small bites menu at the bar for a few hours during the afternoon till evening and a little grab & go section 24'7. There is also a lot of restaurants with in walking distance. The staff was absolutely wonderful! Definitely would recommend staying here if you are doing things in uptown Oakland.

I did wish the terrace on the second floor was open just a little later than 9pm, but still enjoyed it in the mid afternoon the next day.

The staff are wonderful and very helpful. Free coffee is a lovely touch and fresh salad bowls and granola pots are great to buy. I loved having the gym which I had to myself most days. The ambiance of the bar and communal areas is really lovely.

My A/c broke on the first night and I reported it the next day. I reported every day after this but it wasn’t fixed until the day before I left so I only had working A/c for one night of my stay in a very warm room. The staff were fantastic but I think it was a bigger problem out of their hands.

The staff is super nice and attentive. The location is close to downtown attractions.

Although the room is listed as a “Bay View” room, there is no Bay view whatsoever. The view was pretty bad, actually. I mentioned this to one of the employees, and he said he gets asked that question, Where’s the Bay View?” a lot. Sadly, it’s a very misleading “plus” in the advertising. Also, be sure to let the valet staff know if your car is a stick shift. Not all of the valets knew how to drive a stick, but it’s understandable since manual transmissions are rare these days.

I'm not much of a complainer but I will say my room on the 7th floor got so cold at night and we could not warm up. The Heater in the room would not kick on and stay running. The staff did immediately bring more blankets up when made aware of this. Also if they could add gluten free options for purchase st the bar for breakfast pastries. There's a lovely bakery down the road I'm sure could help out :) but still overall great experience. We will be back.

I like the design of the place. How they make a small space very accommodating is very nice.

I don’t like that the deposit takes so long to get back. There has got to be a better way. And I also don’t think older/more responsible people should even have to leave a deposit. I’m 62 years old. Not in my twenties anymore. I treat everything as if it were my own! Hotels need to see this. If they did, I guarantee they would get a lot more business.

Great location, staff was very friendly and helpful, I like the vibe of the place a lot. My room was comfortable, great bed, darn good shower, excellent climate control. The bar in the lobby was fun. I had a great stay.

I'll get super picky here: Morning coffee is in the lobby which means getting dressed and coming downstairs to get that first cup and my room lacked a comfortable chair to relax in, the chair provided was unupholstered and although great for working in not great to chill and watch tv.

Every member of staff ( checkin desk, bartender, waitress) gave exceptional service, gave extra service to me , did their best to give me an early check in time to accommodate my wheelchair bound visitor. Room in high level with view , perfect!

Just more variety of snacks in snack area to choose from ( bags of popcorn, chips, canned soft drinks, such as root beer, or Fanta orange, 7 up) not every visitor eats healthy, especially wheel chair or more elderly people who don’t know how to use DoorDash. I did for my visitor, but easier if available there.
