Updated bathroom was new and as always, exceptionally clean. I've been a customer for 10 years at this location and have never been disappointed! My family lives close by and I am a weekender visitor several times throughout the year, every year. The Volare has always treated me like a home away from home.

In the past, they had wine glasses available to use in the room instead of plastic cups. It was always a nice touch upon request at the front desk. I also really miss the continental breakfast in the gorgeous piano area. Wish they'd bring it back. But there are excellent restaurants within 1 to 2 blocks.

My room was immaculate and well-appointed. Loved having access to the balcony and bathtub. The bathroom area in particular was well done. Staff was friendly.

A check-in time at 4pm seems exceptionally late. I had a wedding at 4pm and had to change in a friend's room since my room wasn't available. Travellers are generally arriving earlier than 4, maybe think about changing your check-in time. Also at check-in time, the desk was over-run - a single employee was having to deal with a long line of guests, most of whom seemed to be sitting around with their luggage waiting for check-in. It would seem important to at least have multiple employees to check people in, especially on a Friday afternoon.

This was a short stay that we booked at the last minute so we didn't really have very high expectations but it turned out to be a good stay. The location is nice with plenty of dining options within walking distance. The staff member that checked us in was very nice and friendly.

There was a long delay in check out as they don't have a key drop box and the staff member that was on duty was not at the desk so we had to wait a long time to be able to leave.

Trey! Trey! Trey! He should teach others (nationwide) how customer service looks, feels, and sounds. Having been in the service industry for 25-plus years, I know a Rock Star in hospitality when I see one. Ironically, I was there because my bathroom (Im a local) was out of service. If not for that, I would have never had the pleasure of meeting Trey!

Our room was about 20 feet from I-5. Request an ocean view room! Our toilet backed up (same thing happened last time we stayed there). Maintenance never came to fix it and we had to go get a plunger when we returned after dinner. Pretty disappointing, as we’ve stayed there several times in the past.

I liked the location because it was easy to walk to shops and restaurants. The hotel was clean as was the room.

The shower floor was extremely slippery. Used a towel on the shower floor to bathe. Just stepping in was bad. Toilet seat was very loose. All easy fixes.

Breakfast was unavailable due to remodeling of property. There were other options close-by, but a couple of mornings something quick, on-site would have helped.

Nothing to speak of. Right on the boundary of "old town" San Clemente, so it had that feel. I think it is fairly rated as a 3 star.

I enjoyed the room location. We didn't share common walls and below was the lobby area. Room was spacious and updated.

Our room had a lot gnats and some ants in the bathroom. It didn't matter how many gnats we killed they would just appear. Thought about changing rooms but they were throughout the building.

Not too far from beach and restaurants. Pretty building. One side backs up to highway other side faces ocean in the distance.

We looked for specifically for a place with pool and jacuzzi and booked there for that. When we got there they were both out of service.

Very clean hotel.

Wasn’t too thrilled about I tried calling before we arrived, and it took probably about five attempts to somebody to answer the phone. When I tried calling the lobby, I had a TV issue that also took probably three attempts to reach a person down at the lobby.
